  1. Comfortable day at the office today for the boys. Felt we played at a good tempo but this was the worst Kelty performance I’ve seen against us. Very happy with our whole team performance today, especially defensively with Phil coming in after the warm up.
  2. I knew Roberts goal was a cracker but didn’t realise how far out he was when he hit it. Beautiful goal. We are scoring some fantastic goals during this winning streak. Big Andy has worked some magic on the boys. Not sure if it’s a plan that we have played within ourselves first half the last couple of games but it’s left plenty in the tank for the second half. Kinda feels that way after we collapsed second half against Falkirk that he didn’t want us killing ourselves in the first 45. When did we last win 5 on the bounce?
  3. Today’s teams, courtesy of Hamiltons bar. Enjoying a nice pint of Heverlee and a warm welcome.
  4. Looking forward to today’s game, I’d like to think there’ll be a decent travelling support to see if we can make it five wins in a row. Will be a tough one, there's so much quality in Hamilton’s squad, we’ll need to be at our best today. I’m hoping for a strong Alloa start and an early goal to get their fans on the players backs. We’re scoring more, conceding less and have momentum going into this. I’d love to see us get some revenge for the doing we got in the play offs last year, albeit we were on the bones of our arse to get a team on the park for that one.
  5. Up on the Wasps website now Left winger https://www.alloaathletic.co.uk/2024/02/01/sutherland-from-saints/
  6. As bad as I’ve seen us play today. Terrible from Alloa against a good Falkirk side, just weak all over.
  7. Good luck to Rodden at Stenny, I really liked him as a player and a striker who scored goals ticks the box for me. Do we have the loans of Wales and Roy sorted until end of season? Wouldn’t want to end up with Sammo as only striker. Had a listen to the Wasps nest podcast this morning, fab listen guys I have to agree with Kevs assessment on PJ, he isn’t brave enough coming for crosses or off his line quick enough. He’s costing goals every week. Hopefully a decent result against Edinburgh today. Bad result for them last week but probably stemming from players not being paid.
  8. From SPFL news, pitch inspection at 1230
  9. Tickets bought, looking forward to today’s game. One of my favourite Away days. Tidy ground, nice social club, tasty pies and not too far to drive. We’ve been playing well recently and fantastic to see Wales breaking his duck last week, a cheeky hat trick this week would do nicely lol. Still worrying about losing soft goals though, PJ has to step up a bit. Fingers crossed for a win and getting into the play off slot to start the new year.
  10. Fantastic first half from Alloa, as good as I’ve seen all season. Just need Wales to find his shooting boots, played really well but should have had three today. Hopefully Scougs and Cammy are ok. Thought Cammy was superb today. Though Andy could have made changes earlier to freshen things up, but an unexpected point today and we’ll take it.
  11. Park at Morrisons, no issues with tickets and easy to get away
  12. After Hamiltons destruction of QOTS I’m slightly concerned about this fixture. However, Andy has had another week for players to come back from injury, etc. Bit of training ground time to work on how he wants the team to play and what he wants the team to look like. We also have home advantage at the mighty recs Be great if we can get something from this game. The thread has been pretty quiet, I thought the Hamilton fans would have been full of confidence and giving it large lol Where are you guys?
  13. Great listen as always guys Always wait until the Saturday morning and have a listen as part of the pre match build up. Looking forward to an away day to a new ground and what I’m sure will be Andys first victory as gaffer. Hopefully we’ll take a decent and noisy support through to cheer us on.
  14. Agree with getting Rodden in, I’ve been desperate to see him and Roy start. I’d say Coulson was better from wide whereas Steven can link up from more of the park. It all depends on the formation Andy puts out. Wouldn’t be disappointed if either or both were in the team.
  15. Also tempted by hospitality but have just gone for match tickets. I’d emailed about hospitality and this was what I received- does sound good value “Away fans are very welcome! Hospitality will start at 1pm at Hallhill Sports Centre (it’s adjoining the ground). We start the day with welcoming you and giving you your drinks voucher and programme. Food is laid out buffet style and then we go into introductions and welcome from me (Chair), Kevin Haynes our Manager and a few of the players as you eat/drink! During this you have access to a cash bar too. Before long, it’s time to head out to the ground so the only dress-code is to wrap up well! There are some reserved seats in stand for hospitality, or you can stand anywhere in the ground for your preferred view. At halftime, you’ll come back inside to your pre-ordered drinks (cash bar available for this) and famous DUFC pie, then back out to watch (hopefully!) a great 2nd half! If you have any other questions, please let me know. Hopefully Look forward to seeing you on 25th. Pam”
  16. Looking forward to todays game. Rice has departed and usually you hope for the new manager bounce but after last weeks performance I’m just wanting more of the same. Goals, fight and a rare clean sheet to build on. It’d be slightly harsh to drop anyone after the Stirling game but if Cammy is fit he’s in for Deveney and Rodden for Wales. I’ve said previously but I’d relish Roy and Rodden starting a game. I really don’t think any defence in this league would be able to cope with the movement, goals and work rate of those two. Not disputing that Wales has quality but coming on against a tiring defence might give him that edge to get a goal and build the confidence. I believe we’ll be missing him for international duty later this month so will probably get the Roy and Rodden combo at some point. Depending on who the next manager is of course, maybe he won’t play with a front two.
  17. Echo what most are saying about coming in after Ferguson and stabilising the team and also bringing in some good players. Unfortunately he couldn’t consistently get the best out of the squad. Tactics, players out of position, changing team and I feel a man management problem. Whoever comes in has a good squad to work with. Onwards and upwards
  18. We looked much more like a team yesterday. Fighting for the ball, getting the tackles in and some nice football to boot. Unlucky not to have scored more but that win and performance was much needed. We were there in decent numbers and was nice to see the boys come over and acknowledge the support after the game. Hopefully this can be the start of a decent run, with some vital games coming up. Going forward I’d like to see Roy and Rodden start and see how they work together. Wales has had a decent run but no goals from a striker isn’t good enough for me. Give him a few sub appearances to run at tiring defences and see if he can get off the mark.
  19. Massive game for us today and Rices future. Last week was totally unacceptable and if the players can’t show fight this week in the derby game it points to a lost dressing room for me. Although as professionals they should be giving their all week in week out, whether they are happy or not with the gaffer.
  20. Obviously sitting a long way away at the other end of the ground but my initial impression at the two corners was where the hell are our 3 central defenders I’ll wait on the “highlights “ but I thought he done well keeping it to 3. Donaldson given the freedom of the park to score their third. In general a way below par performance with us second to almost everything and barely able to find a team mate with a pass against an admittedly superior team. Appeared to me that too many players not committed enough to either the team or manager. Virtannen and Deveney deservedly hooked at half time but could have been a few more had the bench been stronger.
  21. Sure the highlights will show if back for or five first half. Just shows people look at the game differently. Glad we are all in agreement that second half we sat too deep and I hope that BR takes action on this in future, especially against the poorer teams. No offence Cove
