  1. Agreed- Brown has had only one window with no money ( like us all in lower leagues)-From reading this thread Bullen left you with a poor squad- but Brown gets your team to win away which is really hard to get .IMO Murphy by far the best player imo in your team but he is old and needs protection and maybe your manager thought it was a battle first and foremost- Dowds a far better team player in every sense than Chalmers - the latter has undoubted skill but needs to work harder….. love to see the thread when you lose…..
  2. If only…… but hey he is here now…..and we are looking upwards not downwards now….
  3. Have to say until watched the game tonight hadn’t realised how many key: vital players you have been missing this year, Little just back, Galston just back, O’Brien out and McKenna arguably best midfielder in the league just back after long Injury. Jeez, because of Resources no FT team in Scotland could deal with arguably 4 most influential players missing- so impact on a P/T team is magnified. Delighted for you all…and chill
  4. Guys- being an EF fan be careful what you wish for ! loved you and supported you as best part time team in years - but reality the journey is over - you will never have a Campbells support( I suspect from Ian financially - very financially) So League 1 going forward - have to say would replace my last 35 years as an EF fan for 2 yrs as an Arbroath fan-
  5. Would have lost that game earlier in the season. At least with the Campbells you feel there will be a change when things are not working/ going well. I actually think a good point bearing in mind the first half ….
  6. Really pleased that’ fans are begging to appreciate Dowds- certainly your manger seems to from his interview- and he knows what he is talking about. We loved him at EF. When he started he got a hostile reception . But we quickly noticed 3 things - his work rate- being a small club his positive presence around the club- but more importantly his game intelligence and smart runs and his ability to not only lead the line but score- when we had Agnew fit - he always spotted Big Tonks runs- and we scored or assisted - Not so long ago we beat Hearts, Dundee Utd, Morton, , Partick with Agnew , Watson, Dunsmuir, Long, Meggatt , Smith and Dowds etc Had a surprisingly and unexpected poor progress since he left us- had an unorthodox entry into the game - always wondered had that had an impact …..being way more intelligent than most in the dressing room. Anyway wish him well and can’t wait till he returns home to play under his eternal God Fathers( who saved his career at Arbroath) Dick and Ian and he returns to his first love , his first professional club East Fife. ok- let us dream ……
  7. Couldnt be at the game today- but have to say in my humble view we would have lost that game earlier in the season . new found strength , grit and rigour under the new management team-
  8. Did Big Tonks start? oh see he did - scored 3- Actually laugh on us- Watson - Tonks score 4 of the 5 goals, played for us for 2 years and they were great and now we languish in league 2!. Fitba- always make us look stupid at times…..
  9. Can we all move on!. Dick Campbell has left Arbroath and he is now our manager. I truly hope that we are accused of having delusional fans when Dick, Ian etc take us from the bottom of League 2, add 00’s to our fan base, put money in our bank and nearly take us to the Premiership . We will enjoy that, feels like an impossible dream , would take us getting into league 1 tbf- and of course we will have fans that will forget and complain. Thats fitba!
  10. The boy has talent - but defensively you always play a man down with him in the side, that’s why despite his talent he won’t play at a higher level
  11. Jeez, a lot to say . Arbroath were near bottom of league 2 when he joined and nearly got promoted to premiership . If he and brother does half of that all EF fans will be over the moon
  12. Wish Greig well- the right decision- and a classy thing to do, as it gives new manager time to get some loans in. Now let’s get the Campbells in- hope the directors are able to cope with a strong personalities like Dick and Ian.
  13. No first rule of P&B is don’t be personal. allowed to be negative but no personal attacks under a false name- it’s both cowardly and the act of a tosser.
  14. Recruit a team largely of his own. Genuinely do you have any money to sign anyone ,even on loan? Other than a very few clubs- the money is spent in the summer and rarely money for signing players in January- So would be surprised if you can bring in the players to the positions that seem to need strengthened by the fans- unless of course you get thro to the next round of the SC and meet one of the big guys - that funds a few loan signings - maybe that’s one of the reasons for his departure….?
  15. But also needs to be said- a win at Dumbarton is never easy- better Teams than this one have failed to win there- so credit where credit due…. Genuinely hope it’s the start of a run….
  16. We are 10 points off the lowest play/ off position and 3 points above second bottom! loved we got the win- but terrible season by any standard….
  17. If we are going to change the manager need to do it now so the new manager has time to do , even small level of business / loans in transfer window. Would love the Campbell Brothers to come . Even if they did a fraction of what they did at Arbroath it would be significant to our club. Also , Ian , the assistant is by all accounts a very successful businessman which will not be unhelpful…
  18. Heaps blame on the players- he is the manager.! He is also responsible for the recruitment and performance of the players…. Many of them are sadly not good enough but they were recruited by him/ board?
  19. I never want to see anyone lose their job- but these stats just evidence what many of our fans have known for months- we need a change in management now- before it’s too late….
  20. Usually go across to see my team in Fife but watched the game from a neutral perspective due to awful weather. 1) size of Dundee Utd as a club is impressive - 7000 fans in a dreadful day. 2) really surprised how slow and. Bad Dundee Utd are, scarily Rovers might win the league . 3) Middleton a different class- humiliated the FB’s 4) Thought Dundee Utd Forwards really poor. 5) Re Ayr - wow - should have been 3 nil down at half time . Whist CB’s good both FB’s really bad. Midfield , other than no 8, awful . That poor boy Syla was hopeless re pace, energy - embarrising how off the pace he was- hopefully boy was injured And can recover. Dowds miles ahead of any of the other forwards- bizzare Bryden stayed on beyond him- he is young, can’t control the ball, never looks up and make the pass always late…... Ayr looks like they are in trouble - they will be in further trouble if they take off their best forward with 20 to go 6) Rovers will win the league and I will lock myself in a dark room for a year
  21. Actually, credit where credit due , a big win . Due to weather I couldn’t make it across on Saturday ( old days would of done), but pleasantly surprised by the result - But overall a really sad time re the passing of our Vice- Chair John Barclay. RIP.
  22. From what I hear from Kelty pals who are fans stay away- the boy does not lack humility - that’s fine but needs to be earned from a managers perspective- overall underwhelming at Kelty. Getting a PT manager not easy though .
  23. Totally agree. They , Dick and Ian took Arbroath from 2nd bottom on league 2 to near promotion to the premier league- every EF Fan would worship that achievement. However , the problem is they would need to be left to be in total charge of all football matters. Our Board are like us fans, love the club . Would our Board give them total freedom that Arbroath seem to give them?-big call I know but we are in a desperate situation
  24. As you say from a neutral a sad day. i don’t watch Arbroath other than on the television so Arbroath fans are more informed than me whether it’s the right decision or not. What is not for debate ,when you look at his tenure as Arbroath manager from near bottom of League 2 to near promotion to Premier league , it has been a remarkable and successful story. At 70 it may be natural to retire but I believe the Campbell brothers have fitba engrained in them. Would love them to come and save EF!
