  1. I never liked McGlynn but hugely respected him- but I am an EF supporter! Raith were a basket case post Hughes when he took over them in league 1. We were beating them often and he has improved them significantly. He gets them promoted, next season they get to the championship play- offs and this year he just misses out despite horrendous injuries! He has the ability to get good loan signings and they play attractive football. Now clearly some fans have problems re the DGW situation, others believe the responsibility lies with the Board. All i can say he is a good manager, and if you get the chance to sign him grab it. He is clearly better than anything you have had of late- but he will need the time to make the changes and will Falkirk fans give him the time?
  2. Said it before, Board can only spend what they have, which is surplus income from the operations of the club. Our Shareholder Owner is not interested and wont give funds for investment in players! - hence no real optimism that we will get out of League 2 for some time.
  3. Agreed. First time in years did not even look for the result on a Saturday afternoon.!
  4. Plastic pitch equals unfair advantage to the home team , unless you are EF and Falkirk .But really the top of the pyramid. , ie Premier League should only allow grass pitches.
  5. Thought Arbroath were magnificent in the first half and should of gone in 2 nil at half time. Kilmarnock dominated the second half but coming back from 2 nil would of been difficult. All ifs and buts but in the second half you could of done with Nouble and /or Dowds to of held the ball up. But unbelievable season for you guys. Somehow you need to pick yourself up for the play- offs. O’Brien best player on the park by a mile.
  6. Apologies mate, I didn’t realise you were a Dunfermline fan. I get the lack of quality argument.
  7. Well you know how to sort that. Don't pay the £20 -indeed nobody is forcing you to come to games. Just stay at hame, sign up to sky and watch the good old soulless premiership where the league is between 2 teams in both countries! I have been to Arbroath twice this year and the atmosphere is tremendous, the humour and friendliness of the fans is refreshing, and the football is blood and thunder, and sometimes quality not great, but always exciting. Something, remarkable may happen at Gayfield, and if the result goes the right way for Arbroath, on Friday, every TV company in the Uk will be on the story for the following week ….I will enjoy saying I witnessed that. But thats me….
  8. Really think harsh to be over critical of the board.Their hands are tied! We have a majority shareholder, who has no interest in the club. He will therefore put no fresh investment in and would be happy to sell. However I have heard he wants an unreasonable sum of money for his shares. So the club is in no mans land! So our directors have to run the club on a break even basis and have no flexibility for investment. We therefore have the smallest budget in the league, In reality we have been punching above our weight for years- although I do admit mistakes have been made by the Board! Yesterday was 2 really poor teams. When Tonks came on for them he looked like a giant!. Only a 2-3 years ago, he was the young raw boy surrounded by a fit Smith, Agnew, watson, Meggatt, Davidson , Dunnsy etc. Yesterday, we looked like midgets , against a really poor Falkirk team who were stronger. How far we have fallen in such a short period of time! i fear until our shareholder issue is resolved, we are doomed to league 2 for many years to come! Depressing really, but don't think our Board can be overly blamed here!
  9. Any DD from former players ( and indeed some current) on him would not be good- just saying! He would fail proper DD.
  10. Couldn't agree more. The job he has done at the Raith has been immense. I remember when we used to beat Raith in league 1 , we are heading to league 2 and failure to Raith is to miss out on the play- offs in the championship! Clearly Goodwillie was a fiasco but really the BOD imo are more to blame. If that results in him not being the manager of Raith, grab your luck. Raith wont be the same team for the better, without him at the helm
  11. Wow, huge amount of players and coaches pass through your club and don't stay too long.! Didn't know Stevie Crawford was a coach for you guys. Wished you had kept him longer!
  12. No we are hopeless, truly hopeless. We have the worst team in the league and the worst stadium in the league and fear we have many years in the wilderness in league 2- we have no chance in hell of survival and the supporter apathy around the club is frightening !- we will lose rather than you win. Think some of this apathy may resonate with Falkirk fans albeit you are a bigger club. Interestingly, speaking to the players at EF we do not have the worst pitch in the league. That honour lies with Falkirk( due to age!) . That is some badge of honour considering our pitch , Alloa and even Dumbarton! I did notice Watson out for 9 months re training accident, that boy from Hull not allowed back as surface hindering his back(?), and Dowds after 6 months on the grass injury free at Arbroath is injured once back at Falkirk. Is your pitch contributing to injuries? How much does it cost to replace the surface and I imagine this will have a serious dent in your player budget next season. Not that it matters to us EF supporters as we are in the mighty league 2 next year.
  13. Agreed. Never wanted a season to finish so much in my life!( only seems like yesterday that we would of gone into this home tie with confidence- how we have fallen!)
  14. Tommy Wright! Behave. Listen to what the Killie fans say. Had the best players and biggest budget in the championship and they were going no where until McInnes arrived!
  15. All that makes sense re Barry. Although you were playing against one of the worst teams in EF history, you are a far better team , more organised, under Rice than good old Barry!
  16. We certainly can. The team spirit is excellent. So hope you guys do it. The Goalie blunder was awful. Not often you also see Tam been left on his heels for the 2nd!- is he fit? Kilmarnock are no great shakes- but you need to go on a winning streak. The draws of late would of been wins earlier in the season. Whilst Hamilton is scoring and Wighton busy- actually believe you would be miles ahead if you had managed to keep Nouble and Dowds- they just kept the ball in the final 3rd that Dick Campbell loves- also resulting in Mckenna scoring loads. But , stay close, you can beat Killie and then who knows… ps some season though
  17. Agreed. When they look back they will regret that they failed to bolster the midfield in January That decision alone has cost them the play- offs and ultimately , probably their jobs.
  18. A shocker. The same lino was so useless that he ended up not making decisions until he'd received direction from the ref. Seriously, have you not noticed in league 1 the linesmen never make decisions? There seems to be an underwritten law that the referee makes all the decisions and therefore that's why you see the linesman always looking at the ref and confirming the decision slightly behind the ref…. Drives fans mad…
  19. I agree. The bottom half of the championship looks much stronger than the top half of league 1. I thought Dunfermline were good on Friday, unlucky not to win the game. Mind you would be some double by Hughes to regulate Raith and Dunfermline as manager.
  20. Brian Clough did ok from sitting in the dugout and staying calm. Honestly , anyone who thinks screaming at the sideline has any influence on the players, has never really ever played the game at any level- see that at kids football from embarrassing Dads ….
  21. Guys can we get a grip. You need to refocus and start performing! You need to beat Dumbarton, you should beat Dumbarton however bad you are.. We can close the gap again if you guys win. Hopefully Tonks is back as he will fight like hell for the Fifers from the East!
  22. Strikers are only as good as the team they play with. Dowds played for Arbroath, scored 5 in 6, got championship player of the month, came back to Falkirk scored a hartrick in first game back and then performances dropped as a result of the players he is playing with. All about opinions, your 2 strikers doing well, think better teams than you are after Dowds. Time will tell who is right?
  23. Always thought if Keena and Dowds had been fit at the same time/ not loaned out, they would of been a good paring for you guys- but dont think they ever really ever played together as a front 2 for any period of time…
