If he'd held his hands up after three games and admitted that he wasn't cut out to be a manager and it was time for someone else to come in, then I'd still have my respect to him. But nope, he soldiered on for most of the season and gave ridiculous interviews in which he said he'd need to pray more.

    Absolutely tainted.

Eddie May tried to resign at Christmas but George Craig wouldn't accept it and persuaded him to stay. He floundered on for another 2 months which went a long way to sealing our fate. Blame George Craig.

Another example of why ex FFC players should never manage us, it always ends on a sour note. Eddie May should rightly be remembered as one of the greats but this shows he ain't by some.

The Camfield in Perth - biggest pub in Australia right next door to the Optus Stadium. Been there a couple of times now.

Indirectly you've just put the goalkeeper chat from the other week in perspective 😶‍🌫️

Give me a ropey Sam Long or Nicky Hogarth over a fraud like Leo Fasan any day of the week and twice on Sunday's. This game sticks out as a particular nadir for him and Hartley IIRC 😬

I was back from Oz for that match, I could not believe how truly awful we had become, having not seen us play in a few years.

Queens absolutely destroyed us that day and ironically Fasan saved us from a cricket score. Must have been his one and only good-ish game and we still got beat.

Best option is to modify Plan A to mix things up a bit more in particular the last 1/3rd of the park.

Maybe not this season but if we go up, teams will have already sussed us out we will have to have these options available.

    Correct.

What’s a surfer? I must be old I’ve no idea other than someone on a board.

I immediately thought that but then to be fair I am on the Gold Coast and they are more common that bikes here. No one would bat an eyelid at an Ultra on a surfboard atop a crowd.

For as enjoyable as this season has been, let's not lose sight of the fact that a lot of what we are facing on a week-to-week basis is, frankly, dross. Very poor standard. Airdrie would be a step up from that. A big step.

Admittedly I only see the highlights but from what I have seen the quality of opposition in League One has dropped quite a bit. I thought in the recent match v Stirling Albion they looked like possibly the worst team I'd ever seen defensively, yet they get a big win last weekend.

I have to temper this with the fact I only see the FFC games and we have been very good in this league this season - therefore can make the opposition look pish,.But from what I see half of this league we are in is pretty dung, best get out of it then.

As a request can we please not create more threads about Falkirk related stuff. I only joined here to see what was being said regarding the FSS but have found a lot of the other topics about club formation and background issues quite interesting.

There are definitely some posters than can be repetitive but I do find the treatment of some people to be verging on bullying. Some of the things that were said to HSW a few days ago were reprehensible to the point I felt obliged to report a post that called him/her a laughing stock. If you have to resort to being abusive then you’ve lost the argument. I would suggest it better to ignore issues you don’t want discussed rather than helping to create multitudes of pages going over the same thing.

I personally find some of the football chat about what formations John McGlynn should play a bit dull and has as little effect being discussed here than most topics, but I just scroll past.

Would also agree that people who want to remain anonymous should she respected however it is worth remembering that there are humans behind each username and if you’re going to act in a contemptuous manner then I don’t think you can have any complaints if anyone bites back.

But please, no more threads. The matchday threads are a good place for pre and post match discussion and as this is the Falkirk thread I hope that it will continue to be about all things Falkirk related.

This shall be my first and most likely my only post but as my late Grandfather used to say, be kind to one another.

    COYB

I actually mostly agree. I like to read about the FSS , boardroom shenanigans, potential ownerships, club infrastructure, the academy & transfer talk.

I have no interest in people's opinions on players, tactics and matches , I also scroll past them  - I can watch the games and make up my own mind and I rarely if ever go on the match thread.

While I don't condone bullying, and I don't think it was, what is equally dull is HSW's one man crusade against the council and him digging up the same points that have already been dealt with umpteen times. He's more repetitive than anyone on here.

    Love the new kit.

Just sad I'm an old b*****d and certainly can't be wearing it.

Don't be daft , there's no age limit to football shirts - you wear what you want.

Full kit w*nker is another thing however.

The new shirt is awesome, I'm a big fan of no sponsor.  If anyone is passing Australia, can you grab me one please.

  9. What hasn't been mentioned is the hundreds of thousands we received each season from the sale of players from our golden age of youth players and also clever add on clauses which produced significant revenue ongoing.

The legacy of THAT decision by you know who is that this cash injection each year has petered out and completely disappeared as we were stuck with journey men with no sell on value.

I know I keep banging on about it but it was the biggest single act of vandalism on our club in our history and we are now feeling the real effects of it.

You just have to look at what Hamilton have pulled in recently to see the money we are missing out on. Hopefully we are on the rod back to bringing in decent sums of money on the youth we are now once again investing in.

This gladdens my heart. Not just that the lad has come through tough times to make his senior debut but also that we are now seeing academy players start to break into the first team again.

It feels like we are getting a big part of our identity back after Campbell & Lang destroyed it overnight one Christmas.

Well done everyone involved in running FFC now.

There's not much choice in Falkirk these days to hold events like these if you are expecting sizeable numbers. You used to have the park hotel, cladhan or beancross but they aren't options any more so you are left with grange manor or the inchyra . Grange manor is smaller and might already be fully booked who knows.  Very limited options now though in the area.

    Have these hotels shut down?

  12. I reckon the posts from the last 2 pages indicate that this currently is not a "Great time to be a Bairn".

Wining L1 will be an achievement considering we are now relevant to the league but with a slightly higher standard of player than most teams in it. I won't be jumping for joy, I will just breathe a huge sense of relief when we get out of it. Winning L1 would be the us on the road back where we should be.

I'm sorry I subscribe to the "we shouldn't be in it in the first place pish". I look at clubs like St Mirren and Motherwell , how well they are doing in the Premier and truly believe they are no bigger clubs than us......so why not us (spoiler - see last sentence for the answer) ?

A club of our stature should at the very least be competing in the Champo to win it, not languishing in Div 3 - and I think most of us know this.

Football is indeed played out on the pitch and we have no divine right to be successful, but the destiny of a club can also be decided in the boardroom and we are where we are due to a catalogue of disasters and mismanagement by successive past Boards (not this current one thankfully.).

Was talking about the way the game is changing and the direction it is going. That was the ethos of my post.

The successful teams of the future will have players that can do a shift in whatever position they find themselves.

No rigid team set up it will all be about flexibility with setups for different phases of the game.

Football is competing with other forms of entertainment and if the product is not good enough.

No, you were saying (last season) we should be playing with a sweeper.

Pretty sure outside of pub football (and even then I doubt it) there won't be many teams playing with a sweeper due to something called the offside rule.

Not sure which "direction" you are going on about other than the dark ages, and no amount of "flexibility" will involve a sweeper.

I could be wrong though and you could be a trailblazer - the new Pep.

You won't believe me but I actually thought of the same song, 2days ago - somewhat randomly as I didn't even get the Navy link. I just thought it was a good song..haha!

Didn't post it of course.... always the bridesmaid never the bride.

f**k the drum tae, if they had any originality it wid be a full brass band

I'm sure we had Ultras before......Il Ladross or something , they had a snakes & ladders flag and an aversion to Michael Higdon. Very sinister.

I did! If you think we are going to be operating on a FULLY part time basis in that worst case scenario you’re not paying attention to the facts. Please show me the quote that states this?

Exactly, and we cannot move to a fully part time basis next season with players on legacy full-time contracts anyway.

Not been on here all summer, took some time out from FFC related stuff after the absolute shambles against Airdrie. Came back on here for a look after the Arbroath and Spartans game (I attended both).

    Some of you c***s on here don't deserve a good football team. I've never read so much greeting faced p***ks in all my life. Since Saturday I've seen shouts for ;

    1. McGlynn to be sacked (even though we have no money) at the start of the season (sure there's a quote about how insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting different results)

    2. If he is sacked, keeping Smith (his fucking number 2) and making him manager 🤣

    3. scrapping the fucking youth academy to free up funds 🤣🤣🤣

    4. This is probably the worst one for me, going after VOLUNTEERS, who help out at the club in their spare time because they didn't provide enough celebrations when we scored in a cup tie against Spartans. That goes for the posters slagging the old commentary guys too.

Hang your heads in Fucking shame you greeting face c***s. I'm no happy clapper but f**k me man. We've played 1 league cup tie and have *checks notes* 6 (SIX) weeks left until the transfer window shuts.

    gimps x

No.3 is the worst one for me, scrapping the youth academy (again) & B teams to free up funds to sign a RB. Have we learned nothing from the Campbell/Lang/Hartley era? What if that RB is pish and goes the same way as the other duds that have stunk the place out for the past seasons. He leaves and we are back to square one/ground zero in our football infrastructure.

Can anyone see the irony in hoping for a windfall from a sell on fee of an academy player - Fulton - from the distant past, and also at the same time wanting the fledgling B team closed down to sign a RB.

With respect your last paragraph confirms our clubs predicament. Without external investment or major changes within our current business model we will continue to struggle. The reported -300/400K loss every season, cannot be sustained, even with a very slow but increasing FSS assistance, championship football will overall increase our revenues.
My opinion is we need to explore additional external funding and investment and see where we go.

Got to look at more concerts surely.

I don't think his appointment can realistically be questioned.

His retention after Airdrie (a) HT is another question. One that probably sees a big split in opinion among our fans.

I agree his appointment looked decent and solid at the time, and I sympathised with him trying to build on a very poor squad from the season before.

The embarrassing capitulation & shocking scoreline at Airdrie, and to a lesser extent the apparent inability to do much in the 2nd leg for me is a sackable offence and I struggle to get past that.

That said, some credit to the BOD for sticking by him and backing him, it's last chance saloon for him IMO. Recruitment looks good this window so here is hoping he get's the job done this season.

    New strip is nice

Great video, having not been at the stadium for a long time I love all the memorabilia we have going on now. The stadium doesn't look as soulless any longer.

New strip is fine, love the nod to the Hummel classic.

Only thing for me that I cannot come to terms with (& will stop it being an iconic strip) is the carrot, I'm sorry......but let's not go down that rabbit hole again. It is what it is.

As far as the squad are concerned we are shopping in the bargain basement our level dictates therefore we get the appropriate quality of product.

The residue of players from last season failed and the support have to face the fact they were not good enough so no excuses for them.

With one or two exceptions if they were to get cleared out it would not give a toss. Hopefully some of the signed players will be moved on and the more the better.

We will be making 8-9 signings plus replacements for any of the squad players we are lucky enough to move on.

Like you I am not hopeful as the sad fact is that the quality we require ain't going to touch us with a barge pole because of reasons that have been well discussed on the forum.

    The Council's fault?
