  1. Cioch are the Skye company. Ridiculously expensive and a bit traditional looking. As far as I was aware Keela still make all their gear in Glenrothes?
  2. I don't get this. 99% of anything Goretex is going to be made in China. Arguably the biggest premium brand Arcteryx shifted production to the Far East years ago (bar a few products). FjallRaven have been open about where they make products for a long time. https://foxtrail.fjallraven.com/articles/tent-in-nature/
  3. Keela are about the only UK made brand that I can think of that are reasonably priced and not incredibly niche. I've a fair bit of Jöttnar stuff which is UK deigned, but China made (which I've no issue with in terms of quality).
  4. James English is a throbber. I used to watch his early podcasts and remember when he retold a story from one of his guests as his own story, almost word for word.
  5. Not a big fan of The Stones, but it's a good tune.
  6. No ta mate, I'm just cracking on with work.
  7. ??? Alternatively, a group of grown ups who manage to balance a workload and ensure that ops are supported, given that it's a major accident hazard industry.
  8. I work in a department of 8. All bar one have kids. We communicate and balance the workload. We are also supporting an industry which works 24/7 and 365 days of the year. Maybe your working practices need looked at.
  9. Canned soup is bogging. Usually do a big pot of soup on a Sunday night for the week ahead. This week's effort is Ham Hough, with neeps, carrots, tatties and red lentil. Home made Scotch Broth takes some beating at this time of the year (Strangely, I used to hate it).
  10. A very small sample size of me and my mates, but I used to go to Dens with my mates when I was younger if United weren't playing or I couldn't get to an away game, just for the sake of watching a game of fitba. They also came to Tannadice with me sometimes if the situation was reversed. That was late 80's/early 90's.
  11. I went down the intensive route. Two five day blocks over two weeks. Was good and not much fannying around in industrial estates. My first lesson was Dundee to Dunkeld along the dual carriageway/A9 and back via Coupar Angus/Blairgowrie etc. Passed first time. No theory test back then.
  12. The team your Dad supported is an interesting one for me. My late Dad grew up in Glasgow, was ex Royal Navy and very much a GSTQ Rangers man. As soon as I was old enough, he took me to Tannadice, as in his opinion, I should support my local team. He switched his allegiance to United as that was "my" team. That seems more logical to me, than supporting a far away team that I have absolutely no allegiance to.
  13. I've no issue with lobster. A swift stroke of a knife sorts that out quickly before it goes in the pan. Ravioli though...boke.
  14. Jesus. Calm your tits. Calm my tits? I'm not spouting off calling a stranger an idiot for loosing his life in the hills in circumstances unknown to both you and I. If a bit of compassion for someone is me needing to "calm my tits", then I'll take that every time.
  15. My Hillwalking pals and I were discussing this yesterday. The general consensus was that the boy no doubt underestimated the difficulty and was a bit of an idiot tbh. He was found around Carn Mairg which from memory is the 3rd one and craggy on one side. Prob got disoriented in fading/no light and fell. That's some statement calling the guy an idiot. You've no idea if he sustained an injury or an issue with his health. He also left an expected return time, which would suggest he knew the terrain. His timing was reasonable for a fit runner. I've walked off the hills in the dark many a time, which obviously makes me an idiot too.
  16. Did a homebrew pale with Sabro a wee while ago. It's a cracking hop with a big hint of coconut about it.
  17. I was working on an oil platform when they boarded and did their thing. It was impressive to say the least!
  18. Halti head collar worked on my puller. Walked him on that for a while until he got the jist and he's good on a normal collar and lead now.
  19. Decent weather up the Lairig Ghru this morning. It closed in fairly quickly on the tops mind you.
  20. Photo from my lunch stop during yesterday's wander. Probably one of the most snapped views in the Cairngorms, but it never disappoints.
  21. Yup, built a watch from scratch (pics a few pages back). It's not particularly difficult if you have the right tools and a steady hand (placing the hands is the only tricky bit). I don't know about the "experience" Kartel offer, but I'd imagine that they would be able to oversee a full build, as all the bits they stock will be compatible and it's a stock movement. I'm away to do a dial swap (when the new one arrives) on one watch and a hand swap on another. It should only take about half an hour to do both.
  22. Replying to an old post, but that's not a Radio Room dial. Radio Room dials have an offset red or black cross across the face.
