  1. Be very wary of 'guardian angels' promising the world. I can't think of a single "promising the world" statement. Ogren has stated that he wants us in the top league, challenging for cups, euro nights etc. That's a reasonable expectation imho for Dundee United and a reasonable expectation for it's owner, if he wants to build a successful club with his investment. It's not like he has promised new stadiums, like your current owners, or shelled out on ex big name players like your previous incumbents. I view Ogren with suspicion, as I would anyone else coming in to the club, but there has been no pie in the sky coming from the club. You seem to be more ITK than I am though.
  2. What are the other hops you have left over?
  3. Can't say I will miss him. Agree with a few points above about him being too timid/meek. Good luck to the laddie though.
  4. Or do it the proper way. I.E. Drop volume or increase fermentables.
  5. ...while I am thinking about it. Another easy tip with kits is to slightly drop the brewlength (if instructions say 23L, drop it to 20L). It will slightly nudge up the ABV and increase the flavour.
  6. Top easy tip for your next kit. Ditch the brewing sugar and use the same amount of Spraymalt instead. It vastly proves the taste of kit brews, for no extra effort
  7. Lets see where we end up. I'm not making any false proclamations. I don't know the squad for next season. But, a fellow supporter of your club reckons we are a yo yo club. I don't think we are. I think Dundee are, as history proves.
  8. And what bodes for Dundee FC using that logic? We are on our way back up, where as a rule we do ok.
  9. BIAB - Brew in a bag. It's a simpler way of all grain brewing using less equipment. I brew in the garage, using a gas burner and stainless brew kettle (the one in my pic above). Doing it that way means you aren't using kits, but using grains, hops and selecting appropriate yeast strains. It's a bit more effort, but you are making quality beer that definitely doesn't taste "homebrew".
  10. Muslin bags are easy enough to pick up. This time of year should see the wort cool down reasonably quickly outside. A wort chiller and a garden hose makes it really easy. Good luck and I hope it turns out well
  11. That was an extract brew. BIAB has produced some crackers. Not sure if I could go full on all grain.
  12. Lads and lasses, I'm a long time lurker on here but thought it was a good time to start contributing. Happy NY and all that to my fellow Arabs!
  13. That's not unusual. I could quote much higher figures for mud loss. Makes a sandwich from the catering bill fall in to insignificance.
  14. Surprised the operator of your new platform doesnt frisk yous for stolen goods. Fucking scum.... To be fair, when I was offshore, the camp boss used to offer up sandwiches for the lads going home. Better than rubbish from WH Smith and its already been billed for as part of your daily living allowance (which is peanuts).
  15. Great thread! Own a Titanium Omega Seamaster which has huge sentimental value, a Tag Carrera and a Rolex Submariner. Servicing costs more than the car! My daily watches are a Vostok Amphipian (which gets noticed more than the above) and Seiko SK's on NATO straps. Diminishing returns when you spend money on watches. A Seiko will keep time as well or better than any "premium" brand.
