  1. its a minefield out there. He believes he is being inventive by using the "round of applause as we left" trope but that has now been used to death for perhaps a year to poke fun at those that genuinely appear as DHOTYA candidates. At the same time there are still posts in all seriousness re kids aged 3 coming out with some world weary sage advice for their proud "moms" to refer to as evidence of their superb parenting (which just happens to conform to their political/religious etc leanings) - these folks are completely unaware of how these tweets are routinely viewed by many now. And the "genuine" ones as well as the ones done for mocking value, all end up on DHOYTA. Then to complicate things your boy Carl posts this in one of his follow-up comments as a joke on the gender identity of his real or fictitious son: This, in terms of self-awareness and how some others perceive it or cringe at it, isn't that far away from your mom making up a life-affirming statement that her kid said. Suppose we all live in our social media bubbles.
  2. I think in the interests of "realism" and with a greater focus on continuity am finding the opposite to this; the mildest form of exertion in one scene - a minor scuffle for example - is followed-up in the next scene by the characters involved gasping for breath as if they had just come out of a 200m sprint.
  3. whenever a name is suggested for something and within seconds someone offers a variation on Boaty McBoatface (or whatever the f**k it was).
  4. I won't deny that I do enjoy capturing exchanges such as this.
  5. I think what he means is that Jack shouldn't be anywhere near right back. Monthefife would come across as looking pretty stupid if he actually meant Jack shouldn't be anywhere near the squad.
  6. I made a bit of a generalisation. Daredevil Season 1 was amazing - completely blew me away. "The" (corridor) season 1 fight scene alone would have made me happy with the whole first season if it was the only thing I liked. But it was also well written with the characters all very well rounded and not a cliche in sight. I think as the seasons went on, Kingpin's relationship became a little disproportionately consuming and I felt the show was unbalanced as a result of that - I think that was where I considered the padding to mainly be. But any scene with Matt/Daredevil, Foggy and Karen stood up. At the same time I have always loved The Punisher - early Rucka stuff, and even the screen intentions with Dolph, Ray "I'd like to get my hands on God" Stevenson, and Jane - and therefore I was already bought in to the cross-over and then his own show. I do agree with you that if they had made 4-5 episodes it would have appeared rushed but I did think there were too many monologues across the two Punisher seasons. You can look at it both ways - have something perfect such as Firefly and forever wish for more episodes - and then at the same time get more episodes of something you love and then bitch ( as I am doing) that it wasn't tight enough. The gripes of the sad fanboys....... Charlie Cox in No Way Home.......am expecting some big things on the DD front but at same time bracing myself for disappointment......
  7. correct. Perhaps I will qualify my statement - Iron Fist, The Defenders, Luke Cage and most of Jessica Jones is 2-3 episodes of good material (collectively) stretched to well over 30 episodes.
  8. just saw a trailer to what looks like an utterable abomination.... What would normally be something truly awful and cliche-ridden - that is a family "comedy" involving a respectable yet "hilarious" black family brought to you from the Tyler Perry stable with a script laden with "my baby", "girl.....", "you go get some..." "Good Lord", "heavens", "I know you just didn't do that" etc etc - just appeared to scrape the bottom of a barrel that one should never ever get close to. This movie included the visiting/guest appearance of Agnes Brown of Mrs Brown's Boys in said character..... Together at last - Tyler Perry and Mrs Brown. Christ - take me now. I saw the trailer and am mentally and physically scarred......
  9. I truly hope all relevant parties are reading this then
  10. Your boy Farage, as well as championing Putin for a number of years, conflated NATO membership with EU expansion - his biggest fear was Ukraine joining the EU and thereby Ukrainians being able to live and work across the EU. His whole life and agenda is driven by a hatred/being petrified of "foreigners". Russians are okay in his book as they wouldn't have joined the EU and therefore he probably wouldn't have had to meet many of them before Brexit.
  11. attempting to access Russia Today from the UK through BT wifi: Can open it fine through a VPN.
  12. Quite funny parody but unfortunately smacks of many Tory voters in real life where they will (sometimes) talk of compassion but the second any part of their income is threatened even if just by a few pounds - whether that be for the benefit of wider society or for support services and/or for those suffering and in need - then they are up in arms. Number one priority for any Tory is themselves - they will tag on family as well when discussing it (ie "I will do what is right for me and my family etc etc"). They are considerate of other Tories but solely through having shared interests. Prime example - Andrew Rosindell, MP: A Universal Credit uplift - £20 extra for the poor and vulnerable? Govt/taxpayers ie he shouldn't be funding something that the poor "may like but don't really need". Banning MPs' from having second jobs - "we have to be very careful about this....we are dealing with human beings who have families and responsibilities...." And not only do many consider it acceptable to vote Tory but many proudly proclaim themselves to be Tories. The age of identity politics for ye. Incidentally, Blackpool Comedy getting quite the plug there.
  13. your preferred bumbling prefix belatedly added so there is presumably no conflation with your own form of nationalism - the good kind
  14. after the events of today, imagine scouring the field to find this and then this being the primary focus of your lens. Good grief.
  15. you were the one initially suggesting there was a sensationalising and exaggeration of what was going on - I considered that a bizarre stance given what was actually happening on the ground.
  16. so you don't believe or have not seen the reports, images and footage of land movements and incursions across Belarus/Ukraine border points?
  17. the border is over 1000 miles in length between Russia and Ukraine. If the reporter was 30 miles from the Donbass/Russia border then there would be quite a lot of activity going on there and doubt kids will be going to school as normal. Re your part in bold - maybe your news sources are a little limited. We know significantly more than that.
  18. A number of Elo ratings have Barcelona as a worse team than Arsenal. This isn't 2009. form wise they may be considered a "worse" team currently than Arsenal but they are undoubtedly a far bigger club who will be associated with (and will bid for players) who in their prime wouldn't come anywhere near Arsenal....
  19. You've brought it to my attention also. Absolutely shocker of a statement by even trying to compare L&H with the likes of Norman Wisdom. Norman feckin Wisdom.
  20. your emojis say it all. And talking of arrogance: - why do you consider anyone who is not presenting an opinion (on Covid or Russia) as a nailed on "fact", ignorant of the subject matter in your view? - In the referring to C19 "experts" generally as "idiots", you are presenting yourself as knowing better through presumably accessing and understanding a range of sources and studies not available to any current virologist or epidemiologist? I'll borrow all of your emojis here.
  21. I would say without fear of contradiction (ha) that each Marvel show season on Netflix are 3 perhaps 4 (tops) episodes of great TV stretched to 9 episodes. The "filler" conversations and scenes in many of these seasons are turgid.
