  1. As a neutral, and having watched Pollok defeat Talbot in the West semi, I expected Darvel to win comfortably. At a point when Talbot were well on top, the referee missed a blatant foul only to then award a penalty which changed the game. For me a draw would have been a fair result and on that showing I would say Pollok were better than either of them.
  2. The wee pie heid looks like being a hard act to follow.
  3. You really should take in some Lowland league games. The myth that it is less competitive or attractive than the West would be dispelled. The Lowland league is an excellent league , the facilities and quality of football on show far exceed anything on offer in the West.
  4. Given the capacity is 1200 he must be a magician, or maybe you just heard wrong.
  5. It appears that Pollok are following Darvel down the road of financial instability. Ironic that they should be cutting their cloth by selling to another car crash in the making, Johnstone Burgh. If you can’t balance the books at a club like Pollok, you really shouldn’t be there.
  6. Would that be the same “students” that horsed Clyde at Hamilton recently?
  7. I am surprised that there have been no comments made about the financial implications for the rest of the season. The club clearly have no money and their running costs far exceed any income stream. Leaving aside the rumours about ex players being owed as much as 5k, , who is going to be prepared to put their name to a club that could well be in significant debt by the end of the season? It would be an exceptionally wealthy or stupid or both in equal measure, individual who would want to commit themselves to that particular act of folly. Not so long ago, the club president was on tv talking about getting into Europe. Any incoming president could find himself in the debtors court. I suspect Tony won’t be hanging about for long when his wages aren’t forthcoming, not to mention the players.
  8. You can go back 60 years and statistics will show that Darvel have never had a regular fan base. The only occasions that they can attract decent numbers are when they have a cup run. With the village population changing so much in recent times, that situation is only going to continue . The difference now is that for whatever reason, the club are disliked to an extent they never were.
  9. Apparently it was the only club he ever supported and being made Chairman was the pinnacle of his life’s achievements.
  10. The only surprise in all this for me is that anyone is surprised. The wee pie heid has no knowledge of football, makes enemies wherever he goes and unlike in the business he inherited, has nobody there to rein him in or give him advice. This was always going to end in tears and the glory hunters who ignored Darvel for 20 odd years and were prepared to see the club fold, will disappear as quickly as they emerged.
  11. I understand the ground was gifted to the council by lsdy London but must be used solely for community recreation purposes. The council were keen to pass it on for a nominal figure of £3000. Any purchaser is bound by the original conditions in the title deeds.
