Kilmarnock vs Motherwell
Casual Observer replied to dezz's topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
Looked to my eyes (limited knowledge of Motherwell’s squad however) that the subs from both teams turned the game. Our bench seemed a lot stronger than Well’s and our replacements made a positive difference to the result whereas theirs weakened their midfield and wing play. It was a good game throughout but a merited win for Killie, best team from 30 mins onwards and good crowd in today. Hard to judge the strength of everyone until the first round of fixtures complete. Our first 5 fixtures have all been against top 6 sides from last season so not too surprised we’ve not picked up a load of points. Headed the right way though. -

After the truncated Covid season & then the “living room season” last year, surely everyone is happy to at least have had the chance to go to most if not all of the fixtures? Your team might have been pish, but it’s still better to witness that in person and roar abuse and disdain at them come full time, than sit forlornly in front of a tv or laptop having dodgy cameras following bald linesmen instead of the ball! We didn’t enjoy the amount of Sat afternoon away days most Killie fans were looking forward to during our gap year, and were generally shite in the Friday night games, but it was still fun while it lasted. Good luck in the playoffs and next season everyone, except the manky A*r shitehouses obviously! -
Kilmarnock v Arbroath, 22.04.22

Yip in all likelihood. If only there was a transfer window between seasons, eh? -

Tait’s season is over due to injury so I’m sure he will. Armstrong will be a sub -
We didn’t panic at all. We realised in a timely fashion that Wright wasn’t going to deliver what was expected and got rid. We then recruited one of the top managers in the country and to date are now back on track to achieve our aim of getting straight back up. Panic would be hiring journeyman boss Peter Grant for some as yet unknown bizarre reason, being an embarrassment for months then binning him for that guid guid big laddie John Yogi Hughes and still being mostly pish with on paper a highly underperforming squad.

He doesn’t play for Killie so is obviously ineligible for you lot. And probably wants a shot in the premier league next season On a different tack to the Caley followers - I’m about to buy tickets for next Fridays extravaganza - but the ticketmaster site doesn’t show which side the pitch is located in relation to the stand. So is row A closest to the pitch or furthest back? Thanks guys

Greenock Morton v Kilmarnock FC

Morton’s turn to try and derail Del’s Juggernaut. Pre-match predictions? Looks like a hard fought 2-1 away win with just a little bit of extra quality making the difference to me -

Probably because we’ve the best away record in the division (to date) so it would sound pretty churlish. But you’ve got to love the selective view that a team has an advantage because they play on Astro. Not forgetting they are death traps of course. -

It’s completely immaterial how many points in front and how much was invested to get there, how many draws could have been wins, how few games were lost, which players (from other teams) would’ve made the difference. Come the end of the season everyone finishes where they deserve to be. If Killie win the league by a goal, a point, or with 3 games to spare so be it. Its been an underwhelming experience for Killie fans from start to (almost) finish with so many anticipated good away days moved to shitey Friday night slots, no Ayrshire derbies played on a Saturday, pish management and tactics from Tommysaurus Wright for the first half of the season, and until recently no coherent form from players who should stand out more than they have, more frequently in this league. I do get the feeling Arbroath are just about hanging on just now but possibly have ran out of steam a little at the same time Killie have found a winning habit and some much needed consistency. Morton away on Friday night is a tough game these days, and a win there may just prove decisive. -

What’s the expectation on Arbroath if Killie get the 3pts on Friday night at Cappielow? Far from easy to go there and win, but would that just about break the Lichties belief the league is still there to be won as Killie would have 6W & 1D from their last 7 with only 4 games remaining? -

Or Raith’s! Too soon? -
The pitch was laid in summer 2019 before the game we hate to talk about. The old one was ripped up then as it was done. It’s been the same dimensions since after our inglorious “European run” of one tie! It had to be bigger for UEFA regulations but domestically it’s always been that since being laid. So, Aye it has

Whatever pal. I’m pretty sure Killie’s players were celebrating taking the game away with the points our fans were.

Has a team never come back from a 2 or 3 goal deficit before? Today when it went 2-1 the game was gone for Queens, heads were down, no further chances created. The final whistle only confirmed this fact. But if you believe the game wasn’t taken away fair dos champ. Good luck for rest of the season, I think you’ll need it.
-
Hmmm, I’m pretty sure when the ref blew the final whistle our 2 goals beat your 1 goal and ensured 3pts to the home team? At that point I would conclude “we took the game away from you”. But I’d be interested to hear the counter argument
-
Far from a sterling performance but couldn’t give two monkeys nuts at this stage. All that matters is chalking up the win. Should have been up 3-0 by half time, obvious that Queens could only improve from where they were and scored from a really nice counter attack. Wee Burkey comes on and normal service resumed. Pleased for Shaw to score as he’s missed some amount of chances but was there when it mattered and didn’t let it affect him.

Until we did you mean?

The pressure’s been on the players & managers of Killie’s shoulders alone all season being the overwhelming favourites to win it. Not something that has been handled well until recently. It looks like since you won 1-0 in our last game you’ve tailed off though, picking up 6pts to our 13 in the last 5. It may be a sign of fatigue, nerves, or (and I genuinely don’t mean to be patronising here) returning to a more expected pts return based on previous seasons form? You’ve guaranteed a playoff spot though, (cos Raith & Caley both aren’t good enough to capitalise now) so surely anything else is a bit of a free hit bonus and the league is still there to be won? Personally I think losing the two strikers in Jan was difficult to replace, esp when we brought in Lafferty & McInnes has got to grips with the squad. It’s fine margins though in this league and there’s certainly no freebies regardless of the fixture. -
What happens if you don’t win every game?

Never too sure of anything this season but it does look like Killie are building momentum at the right time while rivals are starting to flounder a bit. McInnes seems to be getting his methods and plan across to the squad now, which is almost at full strength so options are plentiful. -
I don’t think Queens see this as a “must win” tbh in their situation. Away from home to the team at the top of the league they’ll be delighted with a point, and aim for wins in other games they’re more closely matched with. Not to say they won’t win if course but it would be more unlikely than turning over Accies, A*r, Pars as easy examples. It definitely feels like Killie have finally got some momentum and confidence together and I expect a solid if unspectacular home win this Saturday, with a cheeky away point for Ayrshire’s wee team at Gayfield thrown in as a Brucie bonus. A fully fit squad is also a big plus for Killie at this stage of the season as there’s more options than everyone else to select from. Cue a QotS & Arbroath double
