Stirling Albion Season 23/24 Thread
WattersIsGod replied to BB_Bino's topic in Scottish League 1 General Chatter
maybe if they get relegated. he might be an effective player at Championship level for a team dominating most games. i don't know him well enough and can only go on what i've seen but he could just be trying too hard to do it all himself to earn a contract somewhere. if he doesn't get a full time gig next season, the chances of him ever doing so again go down substantially. Maybe having a pre season with a team and being involved from the start might help, maybe he'll pass more if he's playing with better players but i think most managers prefer signing players with fewer questions attached. i can't see him at Premier league level no. Even at Championship level, he's still got a way to go to be a consistently effective player based on his performances for us. Would he get in Dundee Utd's first team or even Raith's? Questionable. for me, he's got more of that mark of a talented but flawed player who'll ultimately end up being a decent part timer. Even that will depend on his attitude. -

On McPake. after the first half of his debut, i was asked how he'd been. i said 'he can beat a man but he seems to always want to beat three' My opinion hasn't really changed. like others have said, he needs more variety in his game. play it earlier and use his teammates sometimes. go outside rather than inside occasionally and keep defenders guessing. His defensive work is nothing to write home about so when he's ineffective in an attacking sense he's really not adding anything. I can't help but compare him to Kai Fotheringham who we had on loan last season. I don't think there's much between them in terms of ability but in terms of a football brain, Kai is light years ahead of him. I'm not sure there is a lack of effort in this squad or that they've given up. i simply think they aren't good enough. when i looked at the squad before the season, it looked lacking in quality and depth. that's pretty much what has played out. some less exciting signings like defenders and defensive midfielders might well have helped. -
Have you forgotten what your love can do. Is this the end?

I will laugh all night at giraffe on a skateboard. We are not good. I was just having a bit of a laugh with some mazzy star lyricss

Superstar in your own bad movie..... I wanted just a minor part.. I'm no fool. I know your cool. I never really wanted your heart

I've wondered what josh cooper has done as well. Looked at DYs wife funny or something? He needs to have a word with Cammy Clark to find out how you get out of Darren's doghouse.

don't think there's any official confirmation yet but that's the pattern the last few seasons and can't see it changing. i'd been kind of hoping i didn't need to be interested but it doesn't appear to be working out that way. -
from what i remember it was one of those games that could have gone either way. draw was probably a fair result. my memory of our last meeting at Forthbank was a proper game of two halves with us dominating the first and Queens the second. been little between us all season and i expect another close game on Saturday.

you are right - tickets don't seem to be on sale...... there's no match preview with all the info up on the site yet either which usually happens at some point midweek. only the falkirk games have been all ticket in the league. you'll have no difficulty paying on the day but i think it's cash only in the away stand.

i assume he is only signed until the summer. think he has only played left back once for us. he's been used as a defensive midfielder much more. if we stay up i'd be very keen to keep him. of those brought in permanently this season, he's probably made the most impact and in the absence of Ross Davidson brings something we don't really have elsewhere. -
Take it not a hairband between them if you didn't recognise them?
-
Thought Keltys left back was excellent. Didn't put a foot wrong and seemed like a nice lad.

Pie better than Hamilton but not as good as forthbank. Still miserable. Gonna work my way though a bottle of red and try and get over it.

Molotnikov did nothing for me to suggest he's going to be useful in a battle. The changes made little difference for me. We really aren't creating a lot of chances and we aren't getting many from set pieces. We defended a bit better than last week but that's not saying much. If you asked me who our man of the match was I'd be struggling.
-
Rubbish conditions. Few clear chances. Game decided by a mistake. We created very little and are starting to look in trouble. My confidence is starting to ebb. Special mention for an absolutely dreadful refereeing performance

Pretty nothing first half other than Mark Weir doing his best Blair Currie impression for the goal. Nice little ground.. shame about the weather

that was pretty much my preferred team when i'd assumed DC would still be injured. hope none of the other injuries are too serious. looks like it's gonna be windy again on Saturday...... -
SSB is mental in that it basically never changes. an opportunity for old firm fans to rant about whatever is irking them that day. i can tolerate it for a 30 minute car journey and no more. Often not even that..... best thing i've heard on it in years was a couple of Dumbarton players phoning in for Beat The Pundit on their way to training one night recently. Even better was when one of the questions was 'Who won league two last year?"

Since the late 80s at Annfield for me. John Brogan scored the winner in my first ever game. Some great memories there.
-
Fair enough. When you only see players a couple of times a season its easy to remember the good games they had. Our probably right on the last point.
-
McPake hasn't been with us long enough to be considered and nobody else from our team deserves to even come close. i think Fyvie/Burrell/Wales/Steven are all worthy of consideration based on what i've seen. i'd expect there to be 5 or 6 Falkirk players in the selection at a minimum.
