You’re getting a bit desperate. The sheriff heard the case and came to his verdict. If the authorities felt they were wrongly done by, then I’m sure they could appeal. I think we should just leave it there.

I’m merely saying that people have the right to hold events that don’t break the law. The principle applies equally to all. The sheriff was simply interpreting the law.

Every expert on the planet thought that lockdowns were necessary. Where did that get us? I make up my own mind about things.

Furlough was never about looking after people but looking after businesses. Wrong. It saved both. If businesses fold, people lose their jobs. Not hard to grasp.

I wasn’t a fan of Truss but I quite liked her direction of travel. She totally mishandled things so she deserved to go.

I would imagine part of their income will be on PAYE and part in dividends. Its actually not easy to avoid PAYE. I seem to recall that Rangers and some other football clubs had a very devious means of rewarding their higher paid employees. I don’t think it ended too well.

I’m certainly in a minority of one on here, but I applaud from the rafters people who have made a success of their lives and have become very rich as a consequence. No it isn’t. Quite a few of us, even on here, said the very thing at the time. Boris was close but eventually was overwhelmed by all the SAGE people.

Nothing altruistic about the furlough scheme. There was no alternative if you wanted to keep the economy going and people in jobs. The big error was in having lockdowns which made the furlough scheme necessary. Its now becoming evident that, if we had kept things open we wouldn’t be any worse off in terms of illness and deaths and the economy would be in a far better state. Bad things happen, people die. We need to realise that. That’s life (or death).

Your talk of tax on capital - bank deposits. Is this an annual event or a one-off? I find talk of this quite obscene. Someone who has legitimately accumulated capital over his life and paid tax on the earnings to get there has to be taxed on the very proceeds of that capital in addition to tax on the interest. IHT is bad enough on death but this is just a nasty, vindictive idea.
