  1. Not sure I agree. This might be the game he plays most if not all of what he thinks will be the starting 11 next week. It'll give the 11 game time playing together in the formation they'll be playing next week. If he does another experiment then it could be seriously detrimental as the guys will line up next week in another formation/starting 11 than they have every other game
  2. Good team to be fair. What I like about Hartley is he's created a squad with options. You could play Haber and Mackin to bully a tough defense and then bring on Lewis to hit them with fresh legs. We've not had a squad in recent years that's let us change up our style of play
  3. I really don't think Nelson will be coming now. RB could be a possibility but I can't think of any other position we really need another signing
  4. If this rumour has only came from the Daily Rag then there is a high possibility it won't happen. You can see there thought process Hartley looking for 2 more signings Haber looking for a new club Hartley signed Haber at Dundee Sprinkle some magic dust **Haber to sign for Falkirk**
  5. It also gives you the option of playing Haber and Mackin together if your needing to bully defenses. I said the other day that Nelson and Mackin together would hassle defenses and the same applies here. If the Haber deal is true then I think that spells the end of the Nelson rumour
  6. I just watched a YouTube video and he does seem mobile. He looks tall and lean whereas Mackin is stalky
  7. Hoping Greenwood got on the scoresheet. Would like to see him hit the ground running when he makes the first team
  8. He was shocking when Hartley came in. May have been because his confidence was low at that point but he just offered nothing. Hartley probably had to free up his wage to bring Nelson or Jakubiak in
  9. I'd like to get everyone else's opinion on Turner as I can't say I've seen anything that would make me think there is a good player in there. It is still early days but I don't see what he offers and where his strengths are. Doesn't look quick or strong enough to hold the ball up, doesn't look like a poacher who'll get you plenty of goals. Obviously there is a player there as he seems to be well thought of and someone must have seen something to think he was worthwhile bringing up. Also Port Vale look to have kept the door open for a return in January so they must be seeing something I haven't
  10. One thing I've noticed from our support at the two home games so far is that they expect Hartley to play what they believe the strongest 11 to be, however, these same "fans" would jump on his back when injuries or form forced him to change the team and the guys coming on were clueless. Problem is these fans have no idea about football and you can tell they've never played at a competitive level. These fans at also the loudest and first to show their displeasure
  11. Possibly giving Muirhead a run out at RB as he may be expected to cover there if McGhee gets injured
  12. As said before I can't see him spending money on a right back that will be a starter. Can see him bringing someone in as a backup but imo right back will McGhees position this season
  13. I think he will play 2 up top. I think he was maybe seeing how Dennon would cope on his own or if the three supporting players would suit it. If we were to play 1up top it would have to be Mackin however he would need plenty of support when he got the ball
  14. I thought Dennon was meant to be quick. One of the attributes when we signed him was that he had pace yet your saying he's slow? I honestly think Mackin is underrated. I wasn't at the game last night but against Montrose and Forfar I seen positives from him that makes me think he could be a handy player for us this season. I'd really like us to get Nelson though. The boy is a defenders worst nightmare and IMO better than Yak (Id be delighted if we got him btw) because when Nelson got injured last season it affected Yak's performances, so it shows what he does for other players playing alongside him
  15. Couldn't agree more. Now is the time to tinker with the squad
  16. Seems like another game of trial and error
  17. That was my initial guess. If it is that formation the only thing I would be sure about is who will be at LB/LM between Robson and Brough
  18. Don't discredit Harrison. He may be a big lump of a laddie but he's shown he can find a pass
  19. Muirhead has had the best performance from all our centre halfs so far so I'll be surprised if he doesn't start tonight
  20. When we signed Brough he was described as a left mid/left back. To be fair to him, against Montrose he did put a couple of decent crosses in so maybe left mid is his best position, however, I'm surprised Hartley hasn't played him there yet
  21. Based on the fact he likes to go forward then he is better at right back in a back 4. It was fine him bursting forward when playing a back 3 but you don't want one of your centre halfs doing that in a back 4 Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
  22. Personally I haven't seen enough from Turner for me to even consider him in the starting 11 ahead of Mackin but it is early doors. I think Paton will start most games with Sammut/toe playing alongside him. I can also see Hartley playing a diamond at times so Petra and Rees would be dropped and Froxy would sit behind the front three. There is also the option to play 4231 but. Not sure I'd want that unless it was tactical against a certain team Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
