Spanx has been helping out with scouting at the Buffs since leaving Girvan and has led us to some great signings from conference clubs that are now first team players.

As most clubs know it’s about the network and knowledge of players that get you up the divisions and he certainly has that.

    What Players?

  2. Carlo will turn things around, he had a great run last season.Ian likes to tell everyone that every club is after him, he did the same while he was our manager, Ian worked tirelessly for us, but I think he’s more suited to recruitment or more menial tasks, as he stood perplexed at the side of the pitch on many an occasion, looking around for help/guidance.                                                            Yes there is boys contracted to big money, but my understanding is that all the players are on petrol money.

  3. I would like to wish John Boal a full and speedy recovery and hopefully he will return to the club he loves. We could lose a man from our grade who donated the gate receipts from a cup tie to a team that was financially struggling at the time and I think that is one example of the measure of the man.

This was the main reason we as a committee withdrew from the league. Like most clubs we have an ageing core of helpers and we didn't think it was right to put them in a precarious position. Since our decision I know of 2 officials who have left their respective clubs due to this and I believe more will follow with this news.

I know clubs have their reasons for continuing and have being pushing their own agenda which is their right. Mental health seems to be one the main driving point for many to soldier on and nobody is allowed to question it. It's as if football is the only outlet there is and to hell with the communities physical health which I personally think is a selfish choice.

I know this is an unpopular opinion but if a club has the slightest doubt they can't protect peoples lives then they shouldn't continue. If they can, then good luck with their and season but please don't berate the rest of us for taking this very difficult decision.

  4. Peter Leonard is one of the best junior managers about. That is facts. Ask any player that's played for him. Gets the best out ye and knows how to win. If players dont buy into then it doesnt work which I think is what happened at whitletts. Given time with any team peter could do wonders. Hardly spends money and knows what he needs

Peter did a fantastic job here 1st around, players seem to be responding to him again. Not sure what happened at whitletts, could be like you said, players not buying into it.
  5. Are Girvan making any progress to getting the floodlights which they need to keep their SFA licence?

Sorry gogsy, that’s me just coming across your post, as it’s all been full of tripe lately.

To answer your question, Hopefully we have floodlighting for the summer.

  6. His downfall was he was a shit manager who should never have had the job. He’s nothing but a clown. I’m not having these excuses made for him. He should have been at the games with green hair and a red nose.

Good to see Peter back but I don’t think it will be for long.
Although not been too successful at his last 2 jobs.

Very harsh with the personal insults I think, yes he was clearly out his depth, but Ian has his good points, like others have said he was good at attracting players to the club, maybe not the greatest academically, but to make him out as a clowns a bit much.
  7. I would not think any player will leave unless Peter has replacements lined up.

Also think there could be a bit of mischief making from you ka1, as far as I’m aware Peter has spoken to all the players and are all happy to stay.

  8. Best of luck to Ian, he had a good coaching staff, i didn't get him bringing in the lad Baillie, doing this and the injuries has been his downfall.

Anyway i'm delighted to have Peter back, i was gutted when he left for Cumnock, hopefully with him in charge we can move up the league.

  9. Yes but obviously that doesn’t make a difference. If Troon asked he would jump at it. Ask Saltcoats

No way would Grierson leave whitletts a club on the up(moving to new ground), for a team that look unfortunately like a team that’s going to be relegated.
  10. LochDoon, I wonder, do the persons in charge go and plead for the return of a man who won them 2 promotions or stick with a man thats close to 2 relegations. Million dollar question for the Seagulls owner.

1 minute you’re praising Ian, the next your asking if he should be sack.
