Wondered why we didn't push this deal through.
Looking at our squad today we are still light on quality in a couple of areas.
Baccus' injury?

I'm wondering if the Random character is a bit lonely?

Welcome to our thread then. Knock yourself out.
Off topic, but that has reminded me that back in the day when I used to use Twitter I was banned for 12 hours for using that term.
I appealed the decision and they threw it out, stating that my post was inciting self-harm....

Im half getting the impression Robinson doesnt actually have a plan for all these signings. Its just scattergunning players with attributes he likes and then he'll figure out how to fit them all in.
Usually doesnt work particularly well when managers do that.
Did you read his commetns after the latest signing?

McMenamin has completed all the formalities and announcement should be following on very soon!
Excellent news!

Thing about Strain for me is he's quite specialised. He plays that right wing back role specifically and doesn't seem particularly flexible, so he'd need to go somewhere where they play that system, which might also be why he's found Australia caps harder to come by, unlike Baccus who plays a position and a style that most teams of his level could accommodate. I suppose that could work either way on his value, but the market of clubs to sell him to might be smaller than we think.
That's a fair point.
He certainly hugs the right touchline when he plays. He is also a bit of a dead ball specialist, right enough, and that is another marketable attribute.

Strain would be a huge loss.
There was a lot of chat about valuations for Baccus, but I reckon Strain is our prized asset by some distance. Only worth what someone will pay for him, but anything less than £500K would be robbery!
I really, really hope he stays.

Albiet Hemming barely had to work up a sweat on Tuesday night, and I'm not sure that he had to make more than one stop, he looked fine. His kicking was good, he commanded his box well enough, and he looked comfortable overall.
If Carson doesn't want to play for the club, show him the door.

Isn't great to have a player that would walk into the first XI of any team outside of the bigot brothers.
It was right in front of us. Outstanding, and was very much acknowledgedby the home fans.

I'm marginally more inclined to believe it now. Only marginally, mind....

I think Sutherland was a bit naive at times but that's to be expected. I loved the fact that he was happy to keep the ball and try get past people.
He will also develop physically over the next couple of years. I think he has potential to be a very good player, albeit I have only seen him play against lower league opposition in a friendly. The hints were there, though. There's a confidence already, and he believes in his own ability. That's an impressive attitude for such a young lad.

I think what was very evident from last night was that we need two experienced strikers in relatively quickly.
We could probably survive the LC experience with one, with another to follow. However, going with Greive and Olusanya, even against lower league opposition, worries me somewhat!
Aye. It tells us all we need to know that it was Kiltie twice on the scoresheet. He demonstrated a striker's instinct and looked more composed when the ball came to him.
Grieve and Olusanya didn't lack industry, but they aren't going to provide many goals. That's pretty plain to see. Back-up options.

Worth mentioning that Strain received an appreciative round of applause from the home support in the first half for how he brought the ball down and under control on the touch line. Outstanding skills.

Aye, that's very true.

Impressed with the young lad. He wasn't shy and looked for the ball the entire game. Happy to take players on, and had a few very good touches. Very promising.

Gary Mason was the other. Remember it well as it came from absolutely nowhere.
Gary Mason. I always rated him. Solid and reliable for the most part.
ETA: sounds as though I'm describing healthy bowel movements there, so no offence to Gary.

Just over a week until the start of the season and so far we have brought in two guys on loan, one of which doesn’t yet have a work permit and the other to replace a keeper that we didn’t expect to have to replace a few weeks ago.
Being safe at the split doesn’t seem to have allowed us to get much business sorted out early unless the club shop has run out of scarfs for new signings to hold above their head.
Possibly too early to get too concerned but another league cup group stage failure would be a kick in the teeth. It has been slow this time round. A lot of eggs seem to have been placed in a McMenamin shaped basket, but we need to hope there are plenty more irons in the fire (using mixed metaphors at this time in the morning is a despicable trait, so my apologies for that).

I reckon that McMenamin will be a Saint before the transfer window is over. They’ll have an unhappy player on their hands otherwise.
Assuming he doesn't have suitors with deeper pockets from elsewhere.
