The majority of us grunts who are wage slaves have to work a notice period before leaving a post. Perhaps that should also apply to football managers.
A notice period that runs to the start of the next transfer window. At least that way the clubs could take a bit of time to consider who to bring in as a replacement, and the new manager would have a transfer window to work with.

It seems that the last player to win a monthly (not young player) award for us while playing in the top flight was Kenny McLean back in April 2014.
Really?! Didn't realise it was that long ago.

Think Gus won a couple of manager of the month awards just before we left Love Street, can't think of one since then when we've been in the top flight.
Last player of the month? I vaguely remember Stephen McPhee maybe winning the young player of the month award (is that award even still a thing?), not sure of anyone since then.
Did O'Hara not win it last year? I probably just made that up because he should have.

Dear, oh dear. What a knobbish way to start a reply. Grow up.
Well, you described my initial reply as 'nonsense'. Aside from being factually inaccurate, that wasn't very nice now, was it?

Nonsense. An 8000 capacity stadium would have been compliant, as would a 50,000 capacity stadium.
Read this SLOWLY....
All Tesco were obliged to do under the terms of the sale contract was to fund the build of an SPL compliant stadium.

I kind of get that. I always thought building a new ground with a capacity of ~8k showed a disappointing limit of our ambition. Since we’ve never filled the place it shows the designers got it about right.
However if we could find a cost effective way of enlarging the away stand, it would be worth exploring. Always happy to take money from opposing teams.
The size of the stadium wasn't based on any projection of potential attendances. It was based on the requirement in the sale contract of Love Street that Tesco build an SPL compliant stadium.

How curious.

As you were....

An unfortunate outcome from a robust challenge for the ball. Nothing more to it.

Just checked in, only to read posts about Alan fucking Stubbs and Douglas fucking Ross! As if Sundays evenings weren't enough of a downer....

Wasn't at the game this afternoon. I hear the goalkeeper did well? Perhaps @Ric can confirm....

Nah, it's always 'Buddie' as a singular.
Correct.
As is the case with 'jobbie', contrary to what some ill-informed folk might have you believe.

Deary me only beat Hibs because they were tired. Apparently one of our goals on Saturday was debatable hence the reason we won. We play Motherwell tomorrow. Does this guy get paid for this ?
FFS, talk about money for old rope.

Let's be clear. Giving a guy abuse in the a pub or the street (!) because of a dispute with his employer, the details of which you are not privvy to, is also complete arsehole behaviour and in absolutely no way ok.
Carson is an entirely innocent party here. He's allowed to want to change jobs.
Innocent?

That's very decent of you, pal. I wouldn't take this place too seriously. If everyone agreed all the time it would be a pretty boring place to visit. I'm just here to get news, views and wind up the opposition.
I have been a very grateful recipient if this kindness, so can absolutely confirm.

Does it look like he's away?
Probably a degree of inevitability around that, sadly. That said, who would grudge the guy a shot at a bigger club with considerably more money coming his way? He is a level or two above where he is just now
Main thing is we can arrange some form of replacement. Won't be like for like, as we got lucky with Strain. A last day of the window departure would be an even bigger kick in the stones if it left us with no time to ring anyone in.

Sorry, I am probably being overly defensive here. If he does the job well, I'm happy to say I was wrong.
Aye, I think we all hope he does a job. No doubt we'll be revisiting frequently throughout the season.

What is there to "get over", he is an ex player playing against us, it's not some sort of manic obsession that I have about him that makes me think he will try his best to stop his previous team. That is pretty much a given, and I really don't know why you are highlighting it as if it's weird. The same goes for Shaughnessy, as it did McGowan when he went there.
As for your reading of the le Fondre goal, go look at it again, Hemming was at fault. He was badly placed, something Div posted, and as a result did not get down to a shot that almost trickled into the goal. The point you seem to be missing is that I am not blaming Hemming for the goal, yes he was at fault, but the actual blame comes from the defending and that pass that split them. The foremost issue is that le Fondre found himself in that position with little defenders in his way, but that wasn't the only issue.
He should have been positioned better and his inexperience expected a blaster rather than a trickle. He should have been able to stop that and didn't. What I think people assume here is that I am chastising him solely. Not at all, the fault as I said above is from the defence not the keeper. The keeper absolutely should have done better, but you cannot blame the keeper for finding themselves in a position caused by his defence.
Edit: I have to make it really (REALLY!) clear here, yes I have been critical of us brining Hemming in as #1, but he's here now and that's just the way it is. I am not intentionally choosing to represent him unfairly. Almost every pundit making a comment on the first goal said he "perhaps could have done better". Please do not think this is some irrational dislike for the player.
Fair enough.

I felt he was slow at getting down for the shot mate, the guy didn’t exactly hit it with a lot of power either, I get it was in the corner but I thought he should of done better.
Other than that i thought Hemming had a decent game and his distribution was good.
My reading was that he was slow to get down because he was hedging his bets in terms of where La Fondre was going to put the shot. It was a very good counter-attacking move and he was left horribly exposed.

I think Hemming set himself for the forward putting the laces through it but Le Fondre was cute and cushioned it into the corner. I'm more concerned about the equaliser, the fairly obvious ball back in seemed to put our defence all at sea. Taylor was in a terrible position when Doidge got to the cross.
Spot on. The striker was at an ideal angle and had space and time to select how to put the ball away.

If you had told me at the end of last season that we would start this one with Hemming in goal and Olusanya front, and that we'd go to Hibs away and win the first game, I'd probably check you in for a mental health check.
Fair play to Robinson, that combination shouldn't work, both players were utter mince last season, but whatever he did he certainly got a performance out of them, and the rest of the team to be fair. I'm not sure if I'd want to run with that line up for too long but I am genuinely happy for Olusanya, he's been roundly dismissed - myself included in that.
Bit disappointing to lose the goals we did against Hibs, although that seems to be very much "our thing", and I do think Hemming was at fault for the first, but I wouldn't put all the blame on him, Doige's (?) pass took out three of our defenders and direct to le Fondre. The keeper didn't deal with a soft shot, but the player shouldn't have gotten into that position in the first place.
Overall, a welcome surprise start to the season as we move onto Dundee at home, which should be a fairly safe 3 points but you feel that one or both of Shaughnessy and Carson will be bitterly determined to make sure we get nothing.
You need to get over Carson. He's gone, and he really wasn't that spectacular anyway.
Hemming wasn't at fault for the goal. La Fondre had the goal at his mercy, the perfect angle to choose where he was placing the shot, and he stroked it away well. Unless you expect a keeper to cover every square foot of his goal when one on one, it seems entirely unreasonable to hold him responsible for conceding the goal.

Robinson post-match talking about how Olusanya came back "a different man" after the summer break.
A lot of credit has to go the manager though. Didn't kick a ball for us last season and couldn't even get into a part-time team when out on loan; good chunk of the support written him off. How many other managers would have looked at mutual termination? Plenty. Not Robinson though.
Gives the guy a chance, blank page, explains how he can improve, works with him on the training pitch, praises in the press... simple stuff, nothing radical but what a turnaround. It's looking like Main all over again. As with Curtis too, no doubt Toyosi would now run through a brick wall for SR.
It's quite simply outstanding management and leadership. Brilliant to have him in charge of our club.
Post of the season (so far)!
