Spot on - never a penalty (which Shankland doesn't claim for), and never a yellow either.

It's a problem that feels like it's getting worse and worse since VAR, but people seem to forget there is times that there is contact between defender and attacker that isn't a dive or a penalty. It's a contact sport after all. Feels like any incident in the box now has to be black or white.

After the 2nd half performance last night, I'm not optimistic at all for the home match on Saturday against Hearts.

Looking forward to your next U-Turn after the latest Cowie masterclass.

Beating Aberdeen would make it a 4 horse race (Motherwell, Dons, us and St J) losing would probably just leave it to us and the Perth Saints. We've gone and won there in crucial games in the past, against better Aberdeen sides. They were lucky to get a result from some reffing decisions today so certainly bearable.

Having said that, do think our best chance is going to be to match St Johnstones results and beating them in our post split fixture (which looks like it should be in Perth). Speaking of split fixtures, we are due 3 home fixtures and 2 away. Likely the 2 away will be Livingston and St Johnstone and we'll host Aberdeen, Motherwell and whoever ends up 7th, which could work out great for us if Cowie can continue to keep us with strong home form. 8 points from the last 15 available even with some poor performances in there, certainly better than 5 good performances without results to match

In keeping with Hibs and Celtic levels of paranoia,I’d like to know why Shankland was booked when it was a fkn clear penalty and why Kingsley goal was binned.Hearts won’t scream and howl though,we’ll leave that to hibs &celtic.

Have seen nothing of the game except for these 2 decisions but both look spot on. Not sure what the plan is with Shankland standing 10 yards offside blocking the keepers view. Just trust Kingsley to hit a good enough free kick & you'd be fine. Penalty is also a player absolutely looking for it. Maybe harsh to be a yellow but definitely not a penalty

Brilliant result & sets up a cracker at Pittodrie in a fortnight. Think Motherwell are back in it too especially if we win the afore mentioned game & as we all know, anything can happen post split (except Livingston getting out of 12th). Do think with Cowie seemingly making Dingwall into a bit of a fortress, we can get out of it & if we can sneak a few away results in there too, maybe we'll make it out with a game or 2 to go.

  4. Delighted to snatch the point at the end but worrying signs in the 2nd 45. Twice in as many games Hibs make a minor alteration at HT and we don't deal with it. Horrendous defensively for both goals but every point is a prisoner at this stage and if we can match Aberdeens result at the weekend, then we go to Pittodrie with the chance to put them 11th before the spilt has even come. Would be huge psychologically

Going to get pelters for this.....but we need someone to be the stop gap between the chairman and the football team.  County have never been better than when we had a director of football who stopped Uncle Roy messing around with the football side of things.

The fact Malky was allowed to start this season is beyond criminal, the fact that Adam's meltdown will distract most from this fact makes it worse.

That's literally meant to be Fergies job. As CEO, he's ultimately answerable to the chairman, while the manager answers to him. I doubt, however, that there is many difficult conversations had between the 2.

He left the season we got relegated and his career seems to have blossomed.

He actually came down with us and ended up signing for Falkirk for the 2nd half of that season. It was him that scored their penalty at QOTS when they pitch invaded and then subsequently conceded in the added on time due to the invasion to effectively relegate them. I thought he might get a chance to break into the team when we came back up but that didn't seem to be forthcoming. Always liked him and good to see him doing well down south

  7. We've got to end this "never beaten Rangers" nonsense at some point. However, tonight doesn't look like that night. Good to see Brophy back. Interesting that 4 of the loanees still start although Jenks out the squad altogether, despite us not filling the bench. Have we another injury?

If we get anything from the game, I'll be delighted.

3-1 Rangers. Jordan White to score against Rangers again.

Sadly Dereks third spell didnt work out, I really hoped he would revive our fortunes, but sadly it wasnt meant to be. I have a lot of time for the fella, and whenever I spoke to him I found him to be approachable, chatty and friendly. It was the same with his Dad. I wonder how many people who have derided him ever took the opportunity to actually speak to him, but instead just piled on him in a frenzy after his interviews. Yes the 100x better comment perhaps shouldnt have been said, but the repeated digs at him reflected worse on those who repeated the comment more than Derek himself in my opinion. Its funny how after the last 6 games his record as a manger at this club was swiftly forgotten by so many.

Ask yourself this, without him would we ever have had our clubs name engraved on this this trophy and got out of the old 1st Division when we did?

Thanks for the memories Derek, good luck with what you do next

Getting irrationally annoyed at the lack of consistency in the engraving there. I get they can't all be the same length of name but they could have at least all stuck to the same font or size

  9. It's very much the in thing in Scottish Football just now to promote from within & also to have an interim manager. Could eventually go wrong, (a la Robson) could go right (a la Naismith/McCabe). Much prefer this interim approach than rushing to appoint a manager permanently immediately. Puts less pressure on all involved & no doubt Don will be 100% invested in keeping the club up.

Still don't think 11th is a certainty (although a lot more likely after the last week) now that Adams is gone. Cowie has to be given a chance to show what he can do. He couldn't just hang about as an assistant forever. I was excited by the Adams appointment and eventually let down. I've got more trepidation about this one, but fully behind him and hope it is the right choice

Don hasn’t got the experience to take a job this big on just yet.

Would prefer we go big or go home with the next manager - break away from the same old names and grab someone out of the blue. We seriously can’t be worse off than we currently are so worth a go surely

He's been assistant for 4 managers now. He's either part of the problem and needs to be dunted or you need to give him the chance to show himself. He can't just sit and pick up a paycheck forever. Same goes for Fergie.

  11. Keeper made 3/4 excellent saves to keep the score down to 5. County's midfield 3 totally nonexistent and every Motherwell player had yards of space whenever on the ball. Defensively a shambles too. Well looked like scoring every time they went forward, while our front 2 didn't get any service to feed anything off. Can't see Adams recovering this now. Was willing to give him the window and these games to build "his" side but it's not worked

    Yes.

County making a mistake and St Johnstone making the most of that, and St Johnstone not making a mistake and County not taking any chances, has nothing to do with quality and isnt reflective of why one team has more points than the other.

I don't think anyone doubted St Johnstone are above County on merit. We've (as very publicly stated by our manager) been poor this season. But Saturdays game was last on Sportscene for a reason & not just cause St Johnstone were playing in it. As you mentioned, we created chances but couldn't take them. If we start taking them, we'll be absolutely fine. St Johnstone created a similar number of chances, but a player took advantage of a mistake & that was the difference. Which brings me back to the main point, we aren't a million miles away yet.

Which accounts were these? Because I've yet to read/hear them.

It was a bad 0-0 where a defensive mistake was the difference. Maybe "not a bad" performance was a bit strong. Should have said "pretty much the same performance as the team that beat us and are now pretty confident they're safe"

Mark I know county have a good record again Hibsbut have you seen our results since 5th Dec? Uncle Roy can't buy us a win. So if the boys play for Monty. No worries.

We are a goalscorer away from clicking. By all accounts, should have taken something off St J, wasn't a bad performance. Same at Parkhead. Okay, Livi performance was disappointing but still a point away from home. Tonight is the litmus test. A loss cuts us slightly adrift. Anything else, we can certainly still catch the rest especially if a Brophy or someone start a scoring streak
