  1. The way that this issue has emerged without proper consultation with the football community is disturbing to say the least. If the proposal has to go through there should be a “sweetener “ to soften the blow by establishing TWO relegation places from the Lowland League so that the pyramid can function more effectively.

I think that George Fraser has a moral obligation to the football community to instigate and promote this change in light of the outlandish tinkering with pyramid system that he is overseeing to accommodate the Old Firm.

The mechanism to allow new teams in is very difficult to get right this season, lots of parts to get right, we are working daily on different scenarios.

Thanks for the update. My wish list would include revised / relaxed / staggered entry criteria for a WOSFL “Feeder Division” which would avoid the situation in the EOSFL where Letham AFC, an ambitious club with potential, did not make the cut despite having a floodlit synthetic pitch similar to set-ups used by  Rosyth and Leigh Athletic.

I live round the corner from Letham and played for them as a kid so was keen to find out how their application went. Seen other clubs confirming their acceptable but heard nothing about Letham but didn't think to come ask around in this section of the forum to find out until today of course.

I'm not that knowledge in terms of the requirements to get into the EOS etc but did think it was a big ask for them to go from Amatuers straight to that level but also unsure where they go now as seems a bit pointless them continuing in the local Perth league where the competition etc isn't really there. Facilities they've got some big plans to improve the changing rooms etc so maybe the stance was "come back to us once that moves forward". Pitch is of a good standard etc.

Has anyone heard any confirmation as to why they weren't considered since?

No proper answers to this one on Forum. Perhaps an opportunity for some investigative journalism!

A contrast that you've invented from the outside looking in. You're aware the WoSFL are in the middle of ground visits that might not see clubs put forward to a vote and with at least one club not going forward with their application for 2021-22. You also know both leagues are basically using the exact same criteria to assess applicants, so much so that the WoSFL ground criteria still lists the East of Scotland in the text.

Nobody knows the circumstances of Letham's application or why it has not been forwarded for selection in 2021-22. Which is why people have guessed at different theories.

The league entry criteria for the EOSFL and WOSFL may be identical but the smoke signals currently emanating from them appear to be somewhat different. No mention of a feeder division for the EOSFL or framework to enable ambitious new clubs to develop and grow. The litmus test could well be the way that the WOSFL handle the Harmony Row application where there are similar parameters to Letham AFC in terms of a caged synthetic pitch.

That was my thoughts about Letham as well which is why I wondered if geography played a part in their rejection.

There appears to be a big contrast now between the EOSFL approach to progressive new clubs and the WOSFL approach who appear to be bending over backwards to facilitate a feeder division for ambitious amateur and youth set-ups. The way that Letham’s application was discarded by the EOSFL management is disappointing but we of course do not know all the facts. It is noteworthy that Letham have not made an official statement on the reasons for their rejection.

  6. What do we know about Finnart AFC, the amateur club from Bridgeton ?

Easterhouse FA would be a good addition.

Both clubs also mentioned in this article which I missed:

  7. Brilliant news!

    Good morning Seasiders

I have been advised by the Scottish FA that, at their meeting on Wednesday 14 April, the Scottish FA Board approved the club’s membership application.

The membership (and Entry level licence award) will be effective from the Scottish FA AGM, scheduled for 20 July 2021.

It’s the final confirmation for us that everyone's hard work here has been recognised.  Huge thanks to you all our supporters for their role in enabling the club to make this happen.

Our main focus, behind the scenes, is now on getting our squad ready for our senior Scottish Cup debut and an improved performance in the East of Scotland Premier League.

    Many thanks

Ask the club, it’s unfair of me to list applications and then they don’t get nominated to the AGM

At present only one club will be nominated for the AGM

Some are awaiting the first visit

Some require a second visit after ground improvements have been made and some have been paused.

Around end of May I’ll be doing the final visits so the league can announce it then.

But we do cover the whole of the West of Scotland and teams won’t be rejected on location or travel distance.

Wick Academy were happy to include the Tayside teams into the Highland setup which might include midweek games.

Refs travel from Glasgow to the South of Scotland games every week.

As ever parkcircus has provided some helpful feedback. I would like to think that Harthill Royal is the nominated club and perhaps may fill the remaining space in Conference C reflecting their full compliance with entry requirements.

I can speculate that the other clubs are a selection of newbies from Amateur and Youth football. I can appreciate that many of the clubs will have ground grading impediments of varying degrees and it will be of great interest how the WOSFL management and in turn the voting club membership address the issue.

The decision that they make may reflect on how the National Pyramid evolves in the years to come.
