  1. My plan is to see the new clubs in the WoSFL. I accept most of them will be playing in some public park cage type thingy the first season anyway. So that's part one. Second will to keep an eye on the fight for promotion at the top. Monies on Talbot but i expect a few others to make it hard for them. I liked to see Talbot go up just to see the strength of the rest without the Talbot monkey on their backs. The rest of the decade should be interesting as the dead wood from the SFL start to come down. Clyde v Cumbernauld Utd in a league game?
  2. What team do you plan to go and watch next season, if i may ask?
  3. Considering most of the regulars on here are ex West Region Juniors, 42 would make you the average punter's grandson.
  4. Maybe better taking the LL dispute elsewhere. Tbh, there ain't a lot of love for the LL on here.
  5. What difference does it make to you. When did Lochee Utd join the pyramid?
  6. I'll support yer idea if you support automatic relegation out of SFL2. No playoffs, straight relegation.
  7. Gordon rewind a minute. What exactly is the problem with Colts in the LL?
  8. And you think East Fife and a whole host of others haven't self interest in this Colts story. Don't even go there with the sporting integrity line. East Fife have been in closed shop since the first day they joined the league. Now the penny has dropped. Two or three bad seasons and who would East Fife be playing and in what league? Remember there's something below the Lowland League. Ask Berwick Rangers, one bad season and they could be playing in the EoSFL
  9. You do know Gordon you are in the WoSFL forum. This is the clubs below the LL. You know the same LL that has one relegation place and 160 clubs below that. Why anybody would support the LL from this end is beyond me. Be gone, you Seaside Leaguer.
  10. Pantomime time. I'm standing by waiting on half a season of fixtures getting released.
  11. Personally I'm bemused why the big guns don't start at the bottom of the WoSFL and fight it out to move up the leagues. Maybe give a few teams a chance with the gate money. I'd imagine the top two would be an attraction around the West of Scotland especially if the big team ain't playing that day.
  12. Wonder when the 3 leagues will ask why there's only one promotion space for 3 possible teir 6 Champions in the Lowland League. Anybody that thinks this a true pyramid is sadly mistaken. One team relegated from the Lowland League, at that rate it could take a club 20 years to reach the Lowland League. You need to win say the EoSFL then fight it with the WoSFL and the SoSFL One team out of 150. Pyramid, yer having a giraffe.
  13. Btw, do Broomhill still claim to be a Glasgow team?
  14. Doubt it would any loss to the average ex Junior team to rebrand. A crowd to most of them was/is on a good day a 100 punters. Less family and friends it's a loss making exercise regarding gate money. Rebrand/don't rebrand, doubt it would make any difference unless a sugar daddy appeared. As for the catchment area gig, only thing i can think of one thing to get noticed would be a winning team. For example, Maryhill would need to reach the Lowland League to get any serious recognition. And oh into the Big Scottish. Maryhill v Partick Thistle anyone.
  15. By 1979 those football special trains leaving Glasgow were ned central. I'm talking gangs here. Every pavement pirate/pickpocket in Glasgow was aboard those trains. Might seems a bit odd now but other than the British Rail special trains the bigger supporters groups in Scotland ran their own trains. And quite rightly too. I think the Rangers Supporters Association at one point had six special trains going to Wembley . Celtic had four and Hearts and Hibs one each. Sure Aberdeen ran a train. Remember that was on top of anything British Rail put on. You were risking life and limb on a British Rail train to Wembley unless of course you were a paid member of the Bridgeton Derry/Cumbie/Maryhill Fleet/Shamrock gang. Think there was a number of stabbing/slashing incidents in 75/77/79. Add in 300/400 buses departing from various pubs across Scotland all meeting up in those motorway service stations. Certainly wasn't for the faint hearted. I personally never went back after 1979.
