New clubs in the West of Scotland
Tutankhamen replied to GNU_Linux's topic in West of Scotland Football League
Just to clarify, we have just lost a whole season to Covid. So tiers 6/7/8 haven't been decided yet. As it stands there won't be any promotion from the newcomers league until 2023. Regarding facilities, the league ain't asking for much just that the ground is fit for purpose. I don't think a cage type ground with no dressing rooms would be acceptable. -

Three leagues/conferences from last year to go again to determine which league they are in for the start of 22/23. Looks complicated but will be clear all going well for 22/23 That leaves the newcomers in a league of there own whilst next seasons places get sorted out. The newcomers will play for promotion in season 22/23. Sadly lost a season obviously to Covid but hey let's go forward. -

I'd hope the blazers would at least ask the new clubs (East and West) if they would like to take part in the cup competition. -

And might happen again this season coming. That STV news report on Monday night of 50% of those asked to come to the Glasgow Hydro on Sat/Sunday not bothering to turn up for the vaccine. I'm guessing it must be into the 20/30 age group now getting called. The same age group as the semi pros!!! -
Brechin, Kelty or Brora?

Could add a historical footnote that the then East Kilbride Development Corporation who ran the town put the boot into Senior football coming to EK. They didn't want any hassle in EK Dodgy. They hunted the idea of Clyde moving there as far back as the 1970s. There was even talk at one point of trying to get EK Thistle to go Senior. -

I remember going to see Queens Park v Kilmarnock in a league game in the 1980s at Hampden. Kilmarnock then had dropped into the third level. I notice tonight Kilmarnock relegated again. Kilmarnock v Talbot in a league game by 2030? -

I was there too, in the Shed with the wooden benches behind the goal. The Judge was correct, it could have been much worse. As it was a few people got a fright and others left the stadium. Can't say as such the gas canister would been much use in crowd control since most of the crowd remained until the game finished. -

My old auntie lived next door to Joseph Donnelly in number 4 Ryefield Rd. Was the talk of the steamie in the quiet cul de sac for about 3 weeks. Although some clean cut dude about 3 doors away carried out a series of armed bank robberies about 15 years before. So a football hooligan was small change in an area where there had been a host of murders over the years, one with a Partick Thistle connection. Think the entire team came to the funeral. Can't remember what became of 17 year old Joseph Donnelly, heard rumours but hey it's 34 years ago. -

In theory, if you have the money, you don't even need paying supporters. -

Clydebank i don't see amalgamating but the likes of Drumchapel and Westerton look wide open to it as do a number of others. There's also the classic link up were one club is used as a feeder club for the other. -

There'd be fun and games if it ever goes to straight relegation for the basement club and a play off for the second bottom club. Problem being one or two clubs might have serious debt. Airdrie Clydebank Gretna Rangers in recent times seem to big problems to the point Clydebank and Gretna disappeared altogether. I doubt it's the end of the world for a Brechin fan, they ain't facing what one or two P&B regulars faced. The Meadowbank Thistle scenario, were a businessman comes along and tells you to bolt. I can see amalgamation happening with a few newcomers although if you don't have any support to start with i doubt anybody will be that upset. Is there really a need for 5 semi pro clubs in greater Clydebank? -

Answer B then, nobody gives a f**k.

Any idea where the SoSFL line in the sand is in relation to the WoSFL? Or is it a case of nobody gives a f**k?

Dundee is never in the Highlands

No harm to you FWF but I'd need an interpreter for that post.
