  1. Cheers for that. I was a bit suspicious that BoS hadn't skimmed their share of the loot yet. I suppose once the transaction moves from pending the charge will show up.
  2. 110 Euros for 3 tickets, came out my account at £94.38. That's about the going rate. BoS don't seem to have added on any fees. Just depends on your bank or credit card provider I think.
  3. Or you could have two European adventures!! It's a brave new world. This time yesterday I had no tickets for the Euros, now I have 3. Anything is possible if you just dream! (And have at least 12 loyalty points along with a very fast internet connection.)
  4. Stadium ticket or not. It's all very exciting.
  5. I think the problem probably stems from referring to them as 'Loyalty' points. it's a bit emotive. Bonus points would have been better. Or Clarkey Coupons. Or any other novel name that doesn't convey images of sacrifice, honour and blood-letting.
  6. Wednesday 6th December: The Day That Never Happened.
  7. Priority access should be given to those who haven't sent an email of entitlement, avoided the use of the word 'shambles' and didn't try to sneakily put the access code in at 12 anyway. Unfortunately, I'm guilty of 2 out of 3.
  8. The majority of electrical power generation in the UK comes from burning natural gas in closed-cycle gas turbines, CCGTs. While Scotland may produce much of its power from wind, the distribution of electrical power is assumed to be a national issue rather than a regional one. I think those links point towards a bit of a PR stunt/propaganda by the EU. Natural gas is certainly not a renewable energy source, nor is it particularly 'green'. They make for an interesting read, thanks for posting them. CCGT technology goes some way to be as efficient as possible to extract as much electrical power when burning natural gas, but they still produce CO2, CO and many other polluting emissions associated with burning fossil fuels. https://www.ge.com/gas-power/resources/education/combined-cycle-power-plants https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/961490/Part_3_CHP_Environmental_BEIS_v03.pdf This link shows the current (no pun intended) and historic electrical power generation figures for all of the different generating technologies we have in the UK. Even on a windy evening CCGTs are still the predominant generation method, there's also a link on that page which shows similar data for France. Note their heavy reliance on nuclear technology, owned by the government, and providing electrical power for customers at a far cheaper rate than in this country: https://www.gridwatch.templar.co.uk/ Here is a link to the current CO2 emission levels by technology in the UK, as you can see, CCGTs produces the most CO2 by far, certainly not 'green' by any stretch of the imagination: https://gridwatch.co.uk/co2-emissions Energy generation in this country is a complete disaster, a disaster presided over by successive governments focussed on short term gains.
  9. It must be awkward for some of these right-wing politicians when they go home and talk to the family: 'What were you debating today?' 'we were discussing your genitals and reproductive organs and who is best placed to tell you what to do with them.' 'Oh right, that's a bit weird. Can I not decide what is best for myself?" 'Don't be stupid, this isn't free-speech or gun ownership we're talking about here'.
  10. Hopefully not stepping on any toes with the clips; the two best goals of the day for me! Afolabi for Airdrie's 5th and McGill for the 6th (no audio, MacOS screencap didn't capture it, although i'm sure it's easy to imagine!): https://streamable.com/6qfogz https://streamable.com/1xijzo
  11. That's the bravest performance i've seen from an Airdrie side in years. The next two games will be crackers, and I think we'll have enough to go up. Can't wait for the trip to Firhill on Thursday now! Commiserations to Montrose, they had us on the ropes for the majority of normal time. It's an impossible game to analyse tactically, just two sets of players determined to win. Elated!
  12. Not exactly the best selection of 'bangurz' for after-parties (unless your after parties are a bit wacky), but might be handy for identifying imminent drone strikes if mad Vlad announces a global tour. The booklet that comes with the vinyl is an interesting read. https://discrepant.bandcamp.com/album/a-study-into-21st-century-drone-acoustics
  13. That’s fair enough, I suppose art tends to attract an infinite number of interpretations; and even in the fairly short time since this song was released attitudes in society have changed. I think the song title alone, however, points towards an attitude which has since been shown to be coercive, manipulative and used to justify malignant behaviour. It even strikes very close to the actions of a certain pair of Scottish footballers, but that’s maybe not a great route to take this conversation down.
  14. Not sure if "rape anthem sensation, Robin Thicke" (- Stewart FrancisTM), would agree. As well as being cat-nip for absolute creeps at weddings and in nightclubs, it's a lyrical abomination. I feel manky just posting that.
  15. Natural gas is the main source of electricity generation in the UK - using combined cycle gas turbines or CCGTs, of which there are only 3 in Scotland I think, with Peterhead being by far the largest capacity - so this explains the reason for the rising price of electricity in addition to gas. There are occasional periods where we produce more electrical power from wind on average; last month was a good example of this, given all of the storms we experienced. But as a nation we are still far too dependent on natural gas for both electrical power and domestic heating. Our nuclear power capacity is far less than France for instance; the benefit of nuclear being that power stations can be run at an almost constant output 24/7, the drawbacks of nuclear power are obviously well documented. Clearly, successive UK governments have neglected to prioritise diversity of power generation and security ahead of appeasing the fragile fossil fuel market. Whether this is down to laziness, corruption or lack of imagination is up for debate, but It's a total disgrace and one which we are all going to be very much aware of over the next few months. The UK government has made big noises with regard to ending the sale of diesel and petrol powered vehicles form 2030 onwards, but they have been vague as to how they will increase the electricity generating capacity to replace this fossil fuel energy demand, this is just one example of their rank incompetence. The country is treading water (on the verge of drowning) with this bunch of chancers in charge. Electrical power is something we all rely on and is arguably the primary driver of our society over the last century, pricing the majority of people out of this will not end well for the Tories. It really doesn't have to be this way. https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/consulting-on-ending-the-sale-of-new-petrol-diesel-and-hybrid-cars-and-vans/outcome/ending-the-sale-of-new-petrol-diesel-and-hybrid-cars-and-vans-government-response#:~:text=That is why the Prime, fully zero emission from 2035. These websites show some really good real-time data for electrical power demand and generation in the UK, and the associated capacities and generation from individual technologies. Unfortunately it's not regional, so I've no idea on the figures for Scotland in isolation. https://www.gridwatch.templar.co.uk/ https://grid.iamkate.com/ TLDR; Tories are a bunch of short-sighted, opportunistic fuds. (apologies to those with eye health issues.) Sorry for the rant!
  16. Calling out racism and divisive rhetoric is not silencing people. Plenty of far-right material is available to digest on social media; the situation it's proponents encounter is that decent people with decent values will always call out these points of view for what they are and no 'Establishment' is required for this to happen. For some reason the 'far-right' (whatever that is anyway) has decided it is the last bastion of free speech and child protection, whereas the reality is quite the opposite. They glorify their position by turning these issues into some kind of racially charged point scoring exercise whereas it's a problem for society in general; acting like they do allows the actions of perpetrators to go unnoticed or unchallenged. That's why Steven has got the jail.
  17. That's a good point, I should have read the post carefully. Although I did allude to 'nationality' in a subsequent response. At least you've got me thinking on the nuances of 'nationality' and 'nationalism'!
  18. Thank you. However, i'm really not directing any one point at any one person; rather i'm challenging the notion of 'nationality' as referenced by the OP. It just so-happened that you were the first person to respond to the OP and used a derogatory term to answer a question that I believe was posed in the most sincere of manners ( I maybe very naive). I also believe in the politics you have stated but I disagree that the initial point was made by someone 'empty-headed' and I also disagree with the subsequent argument, 'Yessers are the wall builders on here.'
  19. Is the global abolition of Passports and Visas (i'm not exactly sure how this would be carried out) a solution to this acerbic exchange between P&B contributors? Nationalism is created by boundaries after all. And also vice versa.
  20. Echobelly and Superstar were light years ahead of Blur and Oasis in the songwriting stakes; in addition, the former easily had the best looking front person of all the Britpop bands.
