  1. Article about Hamilton going for Connor Smith, but also that dunfermline and ourselves are interested: https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/local-sport/hearts-midfielder-connor-smith-confirmed-30657826 Definitely a player who would strengthen the team
  2. It's a step forward, at least he has some first team experience!
  3. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/66043149 Very little business being done by our club compared to others in the same division. Why can they (including clubs with similar average attendances) manage and we cannot? Extremely frustrating.
  4. Meanwhile we tick along having signed Todorov and a bunch of kids, with no sign of any squad strengthening on the horizon. Makes you wonder what's going on tbh. When are we getting the pen? Or are we just going to wait for injuries to pile up before panic signings from a dwindling pool of players that werent good enough for anyone else?
  5. Doesn't really matter, would prefer easier ties rather than more difficult ones, but everyone will have gone through on merit or be a premier league team, so there isn't really such a thing as an easy tie.
  6. Wotherspoon seems like a good signing for a season if he is fit enough, particularly if Devenny is getting sold. Despite the good results the squad remains pretty much at the same level of strength from last year. However still more worried about: LB CB Backup keeper In that order
  7. Transfer window is rapidly turning into a repeat of last year unfortunately. Seriously worried about lack of defensive depth and quality.
  8. I'd kind of like to start the season with more than 4 defenders, and would have expected to strengthen the squad to try to stay in the championship.
  9. I'm still sitting on the edge of my seat waiting to see who these quality signings are that Rhys promised. Hopefully some on the 1st Jul given that anyone who is out of contract will be by then?
  10. So far we havent really strengthened. Lost Smith, got Todorov, and a bunch of kids to replace those that were released. I'd hope to see some experienced signings, particularly defenders as its looking a bit thin in that department and was a weaker area last season, specifically a left back
  11. https://www.hartlepoolmail.co.uk/sport/football/hartlepool-united-open-to-exit-of-former-celtic-full-back-4155341 This was the last item i saw on him
  12. well what about Brody Paterson? I thought Hartlepool wanted to punt him, or has he found a club?
  13. Seems to get good reviews in match reports at youth level and generally seems to be used as a winger of some sort. However It's getting quite concerning that other than Todorov, all the new guys combined have about 4 first team appearances between them as far as I can tell - not exactly the proven skills or experience levels you would want to bank on for championship survival.
  14. https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/local-sport/airdrie-boss-quality-signings-way-30274623 Left back and a backup keeper surely have to be the priority.
  15. I think Thomas Robert is out of contract at the end of the month
  16. would be nice to hear about some contract renewals or an appearance of the pen soon
  17. Don't particularly like losing players to other clubs in the same division. I think it's still early, but I hope that the squad for next season is solidified far in advance of where we were last year. Stepping up a division is always a big challenge, and the more time to gel and prepare the team the better.
  18. de bolle (attacking mid and scotland u21 cap) has another year on his newcastle contract, so dont think we are getting him unless its a loan (although would likely fit our style better than hamilton's if he got taught to get stuck in a bit). I think a few of those others were loanees as well
  19. I would hope that Callum Smith thinks that he has a point to prove at championship level and kicks on and improves next season (with us preferably and not Raith)
  20. Flags - wish people would stop bringing politics to football. The current generation of political bigotry is pretty much just the same old sectarianism wrapped up in a new shell. However - a distinct identity for the club and its support is a good thing, just wish it was something else - not that I have any suggestions. In addition however - neither the union flag nor the saltire should be controversial, as whether you like it or not they do in fact represent all of us in some context unless you are a foreign national visiting temporarily. I posit therefore that people offended by the flags aren't really offended by the flags, they are offended that someone doesn't share their opinion. Football - Absolutely thrilled by the playoff result, although it wouldn't be Airdrie if we didn't do it the hard way with the difference being 1 kick of the ball. Had serious doubts about this team due to the run of bad form mid season, but they have turned it around and deserve massive credit for that. The defense in particular needs strengthened going forward and it will be interesting to see who stays and who goes, who comes in, and how ambitious the club want to be.
  21. The club are right to wait for due process to run its course, but he shouldn't have been anywhere near the teamsheet with this kind of allegation hanging over his head. I certainly don't want to see him in the squad for today or indeed ever again. He should be released asap imo, although if his contract expiry is imminent, releasing him at that point to avoid any kind of extra outlay is hardly the end of the universe as the functional outcome is the same.
  22. would nice to be out of this utterly tedious division for a change
  23. This squad is going nowhere fast and are starting to look like a league 2 side. The manager making a load of signings to warm the bench and lack of basic tactical understanding are both mysteries, and the team's lack of resilience is quite frankly unparalleled.
