  1. I think we are all but safe from relegation now which is brilliant, especially considering it's such a tight league. It's up to the players whether they are going to kick on and push for the playoffs or rest on their laurels. We do sometimes have a habit of complacency after getting a good result, but it would be good to get into the playoffs for the extra revenue if nothing else, plus the extra prize money for higher finishing position is likely quite meaningful for our club. The run in is Morton (H), Raith (A), Dunfermline (H), Partick (A), Dundee Utd (H), Queens Park (A) None of which are easy games (not that there are any in this division, as even Arbroath who looked weak last night gubbed us earlier in the season)

  3. So any signing rumours? bit concerned that we will come out of this transfer window *again* with a weaker squad
  4. I think we are only 7 points above the relegation zone in a very tight division and we have seen this season that the manager can spout something like "we can win the league" in the press, followed by getting complacent and going on a bad run, which is more likely with a team of youngsters than it is with more experienced players (hypothetically at least). 4th is fabulous for the squad we have, but it's starting to look like our ceiling this season unless plastic whistle start dropping points and we could still pretty much finish anywhere else below that in the table - it remains a risky business having a squad with not a lot of depth and only filling it out with unproven kids. In short, it would be great to be able to count the proverbial chickens, but there's still quite a long way to go.
  5. Things not looking so good at the moment. I hope Rhys has a plan to change things around rather than just more of the same.
  6. that's 2 points dropped rather than 1 gained after losing an absolute comedy goal. Like the rest of you, was impressed by Megwa - first time Ive been able to see him in action. The younger forwards need to run at defenders and take their chances rather than wait for passes
  7. I'm happier since Hancock and Megwa were added, but personally would have had a preference for a bit more experience in our signings this season overall. Can't complain about where we are though.
  8. Always enjoy a good tilting at windmills after scraping a 1-0 win against the team now bottom of the league. There's still a long way to go. We have a good tally of points after 7 games, and if we get the same in the remaining 3 quarters we should be staying up; however performances like the ones against Arbroath remain a concern, and given that the opposition are more difficult this season to the point that we no longer have a free scoring team - the importance of being able to continue to grind out these 1-0 games is considerable, hence why strengthening the defense has been a key concern in particular.
  9. Hopefully our defense will bother turning up this week
  10. Garbage. team should be made to walk home from arbroath after that. So glad we strengthened the squad with quality over the summer /s
  11. Looking at previous seasons in this division you need about 40 points to stay up in 8th place (maybe even a few more in a more tightly contested division), so that's 10 points every 9 games. 6 from 4 games isn't bad, but surely we have to be looking at Saturday as a key fixture for picking up some of those points.
  12. I'm assuming there's nothing to get excited about in regards to transfer business this evening, or do we have any juicy rumors?
  13. The reality is that this team finished 3rd in league 1 and squeaked up via the playoffs. It's not unreasonable to expect robust recruitment and have askance of where we have ended up given that its almost exclusively been unproven kids. Thrilled to have 6/9 points, and if we can keep that up then brilliant; however will be interested to see where we will be at the end of the first cycle of fixtures (I'm pretty much expecting a gubbing on Saturday, but hope I am wrong). Injuries are more likely to catch up with us than other squads with more depth, but I also think that there are other teams in the division who are weaker than they are made out to be. So am I worried about relegation? It's going to be a concern this season until it is not.
  14. Let’s hope that gambling on youth players doesn’t get us relegated back to league 1 in his 2nd season. If a 19yo whose first team experience amounts to 17 appearances and 1 goal for Dalbeattie Star is the answer, I’d love to know the question.
  15. The issue is not with the player, its the lack of a blended approach in transfer policy where instead almost every signing is an inexperienced youngster.
  16. It's a high risk gamble when you have gone up a division and haven't strengthened weaker areas of the team with experience
  17. Not particularly excited about a player whose first team experience amounts to 17 appearances for Dalbeattie Star. Can we get some actual proven quality signed please?
  18. When are we getting these mysterious replacement signings that have supposedly been lined up then?
  19. Cant help but feel that losing 2 quick goals in the first 10 mins and another right after scoring is something to do with focus and rigor and can be practiced against. That said 3-4 AET is a great effort against a premier league team especially when the squad hasn't really been strengthened all that much over the summer. Would rather lose a cup game than a league game as every point is critical this season in order to stay up and there are plenty of positives that can be taken from this game.

  21. Surprised the Devenny transfer saga has dragged on for so long tbh
