  1. My problem with the current setup is how often the same teams play each other, over and over and over and over. You can potentially play another team: 4x in the league 2x in playoffs 1x in League cup 1x in Scottish cup 1x in Challenge cup More in the cups in the event that those teams meet again beyond the group stages. That's an extreme of 9+ times. A quarter of a team's games in a season And I've probably forgotten about things like replays as I can't be bothered to go and check where those come into play. I certainly struggle to maintain interest mid-season in particular, because I know there are plenty more fixtures against the same teams to repeat (plus the weather is generally crap around those months to sit around outside in). So I suppose my position would be that it's a poor structure for fans - if not clubs out to protect standing and bank balances - and that its up to the league and its members to put out an entertaining product, which I don't think the current league structure accommodates.
  2. After Saturday, we would really have to up our game, particularly in regards to resilience, to go much further. That said, happy with 4th; didnt have much hope for this season due to our lackluster summer transfer dealings, so where we have ended up is well beyond expectations regardless.
  3. I think we are all but safe from relegation now which is brilliant, especially considering it's such a tight league. It's up to the players whether they are going to kick on and push for the playoffs or rest on their laurels. We do sometimes have a habit of complacency after getting a good result, but it would be good to get into the playoffs for the extra revenue if nothing else, plus the extra prize money for higher finishing position is likely quite meaningful for our club. The run in is Morton (H), Raith (A), Dunfermline (H), Partick (A), Dundee Utd (H), Queens Park (A) None of which are easy games (not that there are any in this division, as even Arbroath who looked weak last night gubbed us earlier in the season)

  5. So any signing rumours? bit concerned that we will come out of this transfer window *again* with a weaker squad
  6. I think we are only 7 points above the relegation zone in a very tight division and we have seen this season that the manager can spout something like "we can win the league" in the press, followed by getting complacent and going on a bad run, which is more likely with a team of youngsters than it is with more experienced players (hypothetically at least). 4th is fabulous for the squad we have, but it's starting to look like our ceiling this season unless plastic whistle start dropping points and we could still pretty much finish anywhere else below that in the table - it remains a risky business having a squad with not a lot of depth and only filling it out with unproven kids. In short, it would be great to be able to count the proverbial chickens, but there's still quite a long way to go.
  7. Things not looking so good at the moment. I hope Rhys has a plan to change things around rather than just more of the same.
  8. that's 2 points dropped rather than 1 gained after losing an absolute comedy goal. Like the rest of you, was impressed by Megwa - first time Ive been able to see him in action. The younger forwards need to run at defenders and take their chances rather than wait for passes
  9. I'm happier since Hancock and Megwa were added, but personally would have had a preference for a bit more experience in our signings this season overall. Can't complain about where we are though.
  10. Always enjoy a good tilting at windmills after scraping a 1-0 win against the team now bottom of the league. There's still a long way to go. We have a good tally of points after 7 games, and if we get the same in the remaining 3 quarters we should be staying up; however performances like the ones against Arbroath remain a concern, and given that the opposition are more difficult this season to the point that we no longer have a free scoring team - the importance of being able to continue to grind out these 1-0 games is considerable, hence why strengthening the defense has been a key concern in particular.
  11. Hopefully our defense will bother turning up this week
  12. Garbage. team should be made to walk home from arbroath after that. So glad we strengthened the squad with quality over the summer /s
