  1. Thought occurred to me while watching the Aidrie v Morton playoff this evening. Could one of the reasons we're not hearing anything about who's lined up as the new manager be because the target is currently at a club still in the play offs?
Pure speculation on my part, but I think Gus Macpherson was only appointed Morton manager till the end of the season. Could he be set for a return? Always felt we were punching above our weight having him as our manager, but things are obviously very different now. Would he fancy another spell with us but with money to spend this time? I'm not fully sold on the idea, but I do think we could do a lot worse.

  2. Apparently some of the players will be at the QP Community kids football sessions tomorrow with the trophy. Great idea, and the sort of thing we should be doing more of to hopefuly grow our local support (ignoring for now of course the fact that we may not be playing locally for a while)

  3. I think that the members will be asked to e-mail questions to the club for the AGM. The ball is in your court, you guys who are members, to ask the right questions and not take no for an answer. If I remember correctly the AGM, when I was a member, was always held in May, so it will be only a few weeks away for you to get the answers you are looking for.
I assume that the AGM will take place via a zoom meeting as it did last year. From memory members were invited to send questions in advance of that meeting, but on the night something was said along the lines of 'we can't figure out a practical way to take questions via zoom, so we won't bother and if you sent one by email we'll email you back with an answer' (I may be mis-remembering that so please correct me if I'm wrong)
That to me seemed a bit of a cop out, as from my experience of zoom, it's not difficult to find ways to open up the meeting to questions.
Hopefully after another year of many of us becoming more familiar with meeting online, the same excuse won't be made this year.
  4. I played in a squad in my youth and giving youngsters and players who had been mainly or always on the bench the chance to play competitive games was not only good for the manager to see how they perform but also beneficial to the player. Some of these guys have sat there week in and week out and never had the opportunity to show what they can do in a competitive environment. They have trained nearly everyday and deserve the opportunity to play when we have the opportunity to do so. I agree we shouldn't be disrespectful to other teams but likewise you shouldn't be disrespectful to our squad players. Please allow them the opportunity to show why they are with our club.  Some of them might be playing for their future career.
Spot on. I posted before the game that we shouldn't play a weakened team, but that I'd like to see three particular younger guys get game time in the final few games.
I do not believe we fielded a weakened team (as an86 said, we didn't bring in 8 guys from the youth sides) 2 of the three guys I named played, (one started one came on as an early sub) I fully expect the other to get a start this week. All the players in our squad on friday have been consistently part of our match day squads since the restart. Some have been rotated in and out regularly some have waited patiently for their opportunity. All (as far as I know) are part of our full time first team squad.
As others have stated we have not been unsporting in our team selection.
The only thing we are guilty of is not playing well enough to win the game (not taking anything away from the opposition who played well and deserved their win.)
  5. Leeann Dempster: Hibs legacy, SFA ambitions and being 'in love' with Queen's Park - BBC Sport

I think folk would like more detail on what's going on with the stadium rather than a passing 'highly unlikely' comment on it.
I agree. Plus once again we're hearing things through the media before we hear it from the club. If an agreement is in place the you would think the club could tell us more.
    Thanks for posting the link.
  6. Will be interesting to see how we approach the last four games now the league is won. We've been rotating constantly anyway but Ray might be tempted to throw in some who have hardly played. Injuries might dictate that anyway. We have more than enough quality anyway to manage it. With our opposition all fighting for the play off spots there are no dead rubbers so we're gonna have to be at our best. We might play with more freedom now the job is done
I would love for us to finish the season undefeated, and it goes without saying that we shouldn't be feilding weakened teams when those we are playing still have playoff spots to contend for.
However, I hope we can still give some game time to some of the younger lads too (Heraghty, Biggar and Gillies)
Grant is now out till the end of the season, so I expect Morrison will take his place for the final 4 games.
  7. The quickest route to playing at Lesser would be to abandon for the time being the stand opposite the existing one, get that finished. That gives you 750 or seats. Then with the amount of space behind the goal at the Somerville drive end, they could put up a temporary stand for visiting league 1 fans and have toilet block, food kiosks etc back there etc.
I beleive that was always the original plan, although at some point that changed to doing the whole project in one go.
I dont know the practicalities of doing it in phases, especially as the work on the Hampden side has already started, but if it's possible it would be preferable to playing somewhere else at the start of next season.
You raise a good point however about the potential of larger league one away support, so I could see that as a good reason to complete both stands before we're back in.
I could see the additional cost of a temporary setup, plus the hassle of providing safe access and exit etc making this a far less appealing solution.
  8. Maybe a hint of things moving at lesser Hampden today. Noticed some people out having a look at the existing stand that’s being brought down to track level, looking at the sections that haven’t been completed yet. Also an excavator and some trucks inside the ground as well.
Hopefully that's a step in the right direction. Keep the updates coming please, because we're not likely to get any news from the club.
  9. This would be great, honestly, but why can’t the Club just tell us that’s the intention? The lack of communication with fans and members is what’s disgraceful here. Too many people involved at Queen’s who love having information before the plebs and revel in being ‘in the know’. Dempster needs to get a grip (especially now we have bald committee members having a pop at fans on Facebook for daring to have an opinion).
Do the Club truly believe the SFA will let us in for one last game? It’s almost like we’ve never had dealings with the SFA before to prove they are total charlatans. We engaged in a grown up business deal with another professional organisation. The association owe us absolutely nothing.
I dont disagree with any of that, I'm just trying to stay positive and hope for best. Quite possibly setting myself up for dissapointment, but we'll just have to wait and see.
I must have missed the spat on Facebook. I'm assuming it's since been deleted.
Another poor show from members of the committee if true, after the backlash in the last few days you'd think that they'd be trying to get back in the good graces of the members with nominations coming up soon.
  10. I would have had Broadwood at the top of my list headed "Venues not to be considered".
Interesting to hear that the coaching staff had some say in the choice of venue for our home games. Hopefully they're right and it suits our style of play on a big pitch. I can't see it being easy for us to still be playing there next season if cumbernauld colts are playing again, so hopefully by the time the fans are allowed back we'll be playing somewhere easier to get to.
  11. I know that a couple of the guys on here are involved with the website/social media stuff.
Or better yet, we all know that at least some of the committee read this forum.
Could we please get the presidents interview from today put up online so that anyone who didn't/couldn't watch the stream can still get to see it.
That would be one small step in the right direction towards improving communication from the club to the fans.
Sorry, ignore that, I just saw it's already up.
Glad to see that it had already been thought of. Thank you.

  13. I think the team, indeed the club, are struggling to connect with us. A lot of people in Queen's Park now that have never seen or dealt with the fans face to face, I think a good number of them don't think we exist. Only reason for the absolutely shocking lack of communication in the last few weeks.
On the park, today definitely was comfortable, I'd say the most comfortable we've been all season. Whether that's due to the break in play affecting our opponents or improving us due to our full time status I don't know.
The continued lack of acknowledgment of the last game at Hampden is absolutely ridiculous, to put it politely. I can only assume the club have something planned in terms of a celebration of Hampden in the near future...
In today's update the president said that they had been trying to extend our use of Hampden, however the upcoming internationals, cup semi's and final, and euros meant that the sfa weren't willing/able to accommodate us. If Lesser isn't ready for the start of next season (and even if it is) perhaps we can get one last game at Hampden in July when it doesn't tend to be used for anything else.
Perhaps this is wishful thinking, but maybe that's why it hasn't been officially labeled our 'last' game there.
Keith's "prayer" in today's programme that we win the league this year and get the chance to be presented with the flag in front of fans at the start of next season would be a great way to have a proper send-off. Here's hoping he's had a tip off[emoji6]
  14. Does anybody think a deal has been made to keep us at Hampden until the end of the season and that's why the club are not acknowledging  the importance  of today. I have to believe that people at the club realise the significance of today's game if this is our last game at Hampden.
I hope you're right, but the comment from leanne Dempster in her interview about going on site visits to potential venues would possibly suggest we're on the move again.
  15. Right, got a few gripes. Life is pretty shite right now so forgive me for being a grumpy auld b*****d....
Would be nice to get an update from the club on the construction work at Lesser Hampden. Seems to have stopped. It was supposed to have been completed this month. I know that's not going to happen now given restrictions but do we have reassurances from the SFA that we can play at big Hampden until it's done? Some sort of communication with an update for the support would be nice.
Also the last I checked our club is still owned and run by the members and since last summer there have been major developments (appointing our first ever CEO, the establishment of the Charitable Trust etc) that weren't communicated to the members (club owners) before they were made public. First I heard about them was via the press or our social media.
Don't get me wrong, I'm excited about these promising initiatives for the club as we continue to develop going forward. I also realise the pandemic/lockdown has restricted opportunities for meetings but there is absolutely no excuse for lack of communication by other means. Been months since any communication from the President. Yes, we elect the committee and put our trust in them to make the right decisions on behalf of all the supporters but it's still our football club, not a "project".
So club officials  and committee members who read (and sometimes post) on this site - feel free to give us some answers if you like.

I've got to agree with you on this one. I too have been dissapointed with the lack of engagement with fans and members on a number of big changes for the club. It wasnt long ago that we had information meetings, q&a with the president, monthly presidents blogs, and a meet the players event. I accept that covid has made many of these things impossible for the last year, but after a period of so much engagement it wouldn't be hard to keep some of that going with regular online updates. As others have said, hopefully our new CEO will begin to increase engagement once again.
On the progress of the stadium, it does seem to have ground to a halt, however the kids community programme (which before Christmas had been continuing to take place in Lesser while the work was going on) has now been allowed to restart in person sessions, which this time are happening off site, so hopefully that's a sign that work is ongoing and therefore the site is currently unsuitable for kids activities.
  16. What's the rationale behind 22 games rather than 18? At first glance 18 seems the obvious choice as everyone plays each other home and away and there is a bit of breathing room in the fixtures if needed. Plus the season can finish on schedule?
I'm not sure what the benefit of another 4 games is, unless some teams think those extra games are what they need to gain/avoid playoff places/relegation/1st place.
I would have thought clubs would want to minimise the expense of testing and so fewer games would be better, especially as there is no income from having fans in the grounds.
Or are they holding out hope that by extending the season there's more chance of having fans allowed for the final few games?
