  1. I've heard Mixu is still living locally and waiting for the call!
  2. Hi all, just after a bit of advice, if you can help. I collect rare 80s and 90s shirts and have the chance to get this St Mirren stunner from 96-97. It's a size large, seems to be in superb condition and I was just wondering what the rarity and value of it would be as I don't want to be paying over the odds. Cheers
  3. Really? Blimey, I know some old shirts can go for a daft amount these days. But that is a crazy price! I've not actually got it yet but have the opportunity to buy it. Thanks for your feedback.
  4. Does anyone know the rarity / value of this shirt, size XL?
  5. Hmmm, it's my 6th anniversary of watching Cowden that weekend. And it's been a while since I've got to Central Park so I might have to make a trip up for this. Hopefully attracts a good crowd. And it's not snowing again like that weekend I first visited!
  6. Aye, it ended well last time he had that role in England! The fella's a footballing fraud and will be found out as soon as his mates stop giving him work in the game. The phrase 'Jobs for the lads' springs to mind. Fleetwood now have two hopes of staying up. No hope, and Bob Hope. And Bob Hope's dead.
  7. Have you got the youtube link pal as I still can't find it? Nice one
  8. I'm just playng catch-up on here and surprised it's not been mentioned. I don't know if it's the same programmes north of the border, but on Sunday's ITV4, Cowden's famous feature was on the best of Saint & Greavesie show. It was this short feature that spiked my interest in the club as a youngster and planted the seed that made me think 'I'm going to go there one day'. I tried finding the footage in subsequent years but with no luck so delighted to see it for the first time in what must be more than 25 years. It should be available to watch online via the ITV website for anyone who missed it... and if somebody to copy it and get it on youtube for future generations to enjoy, then that would be superb.
  9. It seems all the team's really lacking is a couple of older, wiser heads whose legs might not be able to last a full 90 minutes these days but no the score, have been about a bit - so to speak - and can be thrown into the mix with half an hour to go to help calm things down and get a grip on the game. With a bit more experience and nouse, so many draws could easily be turned into wins.
  10. I really enjoyed that yesterday - my first Cowden win since Queens Park at Hampden in 2019 - and definitely worth all the effort of travelling up without knowing if I'd get home or not. Great to meet up with those who travelled down (or up!), just a shame so many ended up missing out due to the travel problems. One final thing, it was ace to see an obvious team spirit with the way the players all celebrated together after the goals and, again, credit to the manager and staff for finding the right players, with the right attitude, to create that obvious camaraderie
  11. It's definitely gone a bit quiet on here so, looking ahead to the weekend and probably the only game I'm likely to attend this season, it'll be good to see David Cox in action again for Gretna and, of course, there's another Cowden link with Bryan Gilfillan managing Saturday's opponents. I notice that the old defender even had to pull his boots on again a few times at the start of the season but hasn't appeared on their bench in recent weeks... but a late cameo would also be great to see.
  12. Take it that's a no then! So I'll bring my boots to Gretna on Saturday...
  13. Any idea when the injured players will be back?
  14. I'd love to do this trip. Looking at their wikipedia page, it seems that I'd be able to gaze up at the old Manchester United training ground floodlights, just like I did as a kid! Haha. Funny the things you learn...
  15. CowdenLoyal... can you please write more match summaries in future? Feel like I've just got back from the game myself after reading that! Top stuff pal
  16. Well, hopefully the team can ride the wave over the coming weeks. Fixtures coming up have probably helpedso it's not necessarily important if the football is pretty.... Just get the job done over the next few matches and hopefully get back to near the first-choice XI as soon as possible.
  17. I'll be back on the 'terraces' at Gretna, if that's any help! Hopefully get a few players back and a couple of win under the belt before then though. It's been over a year since I've seen Cowden score (and I can't remember the last time I saw a win!). However, I reckon this might be a 'curse' for the season already, where if there's a few missing, we'll feel the effects. The squad aint big and whilst the team is good when everyone is 100% (and what a refreshing thing that is to say since watching this team since 2018), that's rarely the case in football. Especially at this level. So now the core is in place, is there any chance the club could utilise the loan market whilst we await the regulars to return... and they don't have to rush back and subsequently incur future injuries cos they're not quite ready. Cos the injury situation could prove a regular occurance between now and the end of the season and it would be a shame to see any early confidence disappear over the coming months. No-one is expecting a title/promotion challenge but if the team seems capable of pushing the top five then it's certainly a great foundation to build on for next season, and help build momentum both on and off the terraces. Mon the Coo
  18. Looking forward to what now seems to be an annual trip to Raydale Park next month for the game against Cowdenbeath. Hoping the bar is stocked up again on bottles of Becks so, if anyone reading this can have a word with Stuart, and make sure the fridge is full for my arrival, that'd be ace!
  19. With the way this year has gone so far, I'm really looking forward to my first game season at Gretna next month. Train's booked and it's a match that will mark five years of me following Cowden from afar. Hoping to see a decent away support down for it and celebrate what will hopefully be my first Cowden win since, jeez, before Covid! Before then, keep on keeping on and up that table...
  20. Hi mate. I don't know if you've seen, but I sent you a message yesterday about the shirts (and programmes)
  21. If you did the same as me and searched something along the lines of 'Scottish Football player banned and homophobia', you probably saw that there's an article on the Times site that starts with the sentence: Seventeen footballers or officials in Scotland's professional leagues have been handed ten-match bans under a new rule designed to stamp out homophobic abuse. That was from May this year. I think a ban of that length is the least any player/official deserves if found guilty as, along with racist abuse and sectarian shite, there should be no place for it in football and strict punishments delivered to help prevent future instances occuring. Or at least make the perpetrators think twice before opening their daft little gobs! Let's just hope it's not true
  22. Looking in from afar pal, it's the first time since I've followed the club that I can feel the positive vibes reverberating around the old ground and it's superb to see. I'm made up for everyone involved that, finally, the club has a manager who doesn't seem like a bit of a nob, who knows what he's doing and actually knows how to assemble a proper squad for the level Cowden are competing at. Despite those recent late setbacks, and the temporary shite feeling of throwing another game away, it's impossible to stay too annoyed for long at the moment cos you just know that, with this squad and manager, it's going to come if they just keep on doing what they're doing. I hope the town and some of the old (and younger!) supporters start returning again, and everyone can start enjoying their football at Central Park after years of misery and dire football. Hope you're keeping well mate and keep on keepin on!
  23. Yeah mate, I'm delighted they're getting done as I enquired on the official facebook page if the club was considering prints at the time of the raffle and, pleased to say that I think i already have one sorted, thanks to the generosity of one kind-hearted Cowden fan. Hopefully proves another decent earner for the club as the painting is an absolute stunner
  24. Fantastic. Thank you Gordon. Could you please let me know (either here or via message) what numbers/sizes are available in the black tops as I might be interested in a couple of those (and defintiely one), and I'll also take a jacket if you can let me know those sizes. Then I'll get some money sent asap. Unfortunately, at my age and with the amount I drink, I'm probably best giving the white shorts a miss thanks! However, if there's any blue or black there. Cheers mate
  25. Could someone at the club, or with links to the club shop, please help me? Reading the above post about old player shirts in the shop, I'm after a few shirts at the moment and was wondering what is available? I'd love a striped player shirt, based on the classic 70s top that I helped inspire the return of a few years back, along with a shirt or two from the last year in the league, and something from last season as well if possible, plus a new training jacket as all mine are a bit worn now. If anyone could either let me know what is available and if I could possibly send money to someone to grab me a few bits next time I'm down - or directly to the club - then any help would be really appreciated. Cheers
