  2. Finally managed to shake off my injury, runners knee, ilio tibial band syndrome and now back on course to be running the lake garda marathon at the end of september, managed my first double figure mile run since the begining of march on friday past and no knee pain, yeehaa, also got the great north run to look forward to this year, here's hoping i can get my pb's down!! Nike plus is back operational now so anyone fancies a challenge or 3 then just post em up here.
  3. Ran the Inverness Half Marathon 3 weeks ago, 1 hour 38 mins, pleased wnough with that but i've not been able to run since cos of a sore knee, now been diagnosed ad Illio Tibial Band Syndrome or runners knee, fookin depressing!! Missing the Perth Heaven n Hell Half this Sunday......and missing going out in the light evenings in the suunnnshiiiiine.
  4. I'm down for some more nike plus chaleenges thunder!! got an entry into the great north run last week, and got 33 miles in last 7 days tae despite the pish weather!!
  5. Aye for a five spot u cannae really go wrong, wud not say it reaches the heights of City of God but still really worth watching, filmed the same way and similar dialogue.
  6. You should now watch City of Men, the TV series follow up to City of God.
  7. I despise running on treadmills, really isnae even comparitive to getting out pounding the pavement.
  8. Oh aye, dip will be mandatory i think, waiting on entries opening in Feb to get registered, then get cheapo flights sorted.
  9. Ditto, Inverness Half Marathon 8 March, Alloa Half Marathon 22 March, Lake Garda Marathon 27 Sept shud sort me out ;-)
  10. I'm back in training after a few months off during the summer, my nike plus battery is dead so i'm goin out with no ipod or no nike plus, not even a stopwatch, its so liberating, like freestyle running lol been out 7 or 8 times over last few weeks, now starting to look at spring time mara's i cud partake in, Barcelona on 1 March sounds appealing!!
  11. First run back tonight after my weeks break post Edinburgh, managed a fairley relaxed 6.5 miles in 47 mins, not sure what my next race is going to be, got 2 week hol coming up in 3 weeks time. Did anyone notice the Kilomothon advertised on the Edi marathon website? 26.2km race but the link to the webpage only asks you to express interest. 16.5 miles odd, sounds a fairly good distance to train for.
  12. I use a little Nike Trainer Pouch i got in the Nike Store, its a bit big but i stuff some tissue into it so the sensor is held in place. My mate uses a stanley knife to cut a slit in the tongue of his trainer then sticks the sensor into the tongue of his trainers. If i was going to buy an alternative now i'd get one of these dudes Marware Nike Plus Sensor Holder. Here's what it looks like in situ Marware Nike+ Holder Example Here to help.
  13. Marathon Results They have the results in the e-copy of the Edin News, see above link, my official time was 3:35:54, a second less than what i thought.
  14. Fantastic time Thunder my boy, you'll be over the moon at that, well done. Think i felt the same as you in the last 3 miles odd, felt on the verge of passing out and it's a bit of a blur when i think about it now, just mind putting the foot down the last stretch along the racecourse. So thats 3 PB's in for the PnB Running Club, cant be bad!! p.s. My pus feels right like it got the sun yesterday!!
  15. At least you managed a new PB captain, hope you didnae put the feet up and have a read of the news of the world when you wir curling one out :/ What did you think of the course conditions? I was actually not to bothered by the wind, although it fair hit you when you came down on to the promenade at Portobello, funny bit of track running when you entered Gosford House was a bit weird, the last few miles i felt like i was ready to pass out, felt nauseating but decent turn out over the last 0.5 miles helped me get my motivation back. Looking forward to seeing what the official time says but they not avail til tomorrow. Any idea how the other 2 got on? No sign of Thunder M, maybe he laid up with sore hip. Legs are feeling OK today, not as bad as i mind them being like the last time, quads and hams sore but apart from that i appear unscathed from my exertions.
  16. Thats me home after finshing today in 3 hours 35 mins 55 secs, unofficial time, 27 minutes better than my last effort so pretty chuffed. Was toiling the last 2/3 miles but expected that though was still able to put a wee spurt on for the home straight, now going to eat eat eat cos i'm hank marvin!! Hope everyone else got on well, i'm sure i'll be seeing your times posted on here over the next few days. :)
  17. Just away to munch a copious amount of pasta ahead of tomorrow, good luck anyone who is running Edinburgh and hope we all get the times we want. Look forward to seeing how everyone has got on.
  18. Not seen mention of gels being handed out anywhere so will have a brace of them in my back pocket along with some jelly babies. Thats me just back from an easy 4 and half mile run, thats my last now till Sunday at 9am. Bring it on, just got to sort out my playlist and try to fill up bout 4 hours worth (i have volume control inline so can turn down should i want to soak up the atmosphere :-/) oh and head thru to the Expo tomorrow at tea time to pick up my race number etc. Really just want it to be Sunday now, all these phantom aches and pains are playing havoc with me. Got Indiana in the schedule also ThunderM
  19. If that means for the last 8 miles i'm going to have a good tail wind then i can take that, yeh no problems. Come on stay positive!! And it wont be pishing doon, light drizzle is great for us runners......aint it ?
  20. My race number for the Edinburgh Marathon is 5792, previous best is 4 hours 2 mins so looking to get comfortably unde the 4 hour marker on Sunday Just back from an easy 6 miles just now, i'm sure my mind is playing tricks with me and saying my muscles are tight but i know better, plenty stretches afterwards anyway. Trained 500 miles odd now, few wee twinges here and there but nothing that should hamper a good time on Sunday. Keeping a keen eye on the weather now also.
  21. Training has been going well for me, Just back the now from a 17 Miler i managed in 2 hrs 22 mins, was hardly even out of puff either, cud'nt of said that 3 months ago. The previous 3 weekends my long runs have been all 20 miles plus reaching up to 22.5 miles, i managed that in 3 hrs 12 mins. Seem on course to break the 4 hours in Edinburgh, fingers crossed. Also been getting my shorter runs in consistently and feel fitter and in better condition than when i ran NY in 2006, touch wood not had any injury woes other than tight hamstrings this time round, just around the 500 miles have been trained since mid Jan and i'm rating the improved weather and light nights for running So 2 weeks to go and i'm well looking forward to the biggie. Hope you sort out the stitch prob Captain, not something that i've ever been troubled with enough that i'd even consider stopping or pulling out of a race so i guess it must be pretty bad for a seasoned runner like you to be considering doing so, i'm sure you'll be alright.
  22. Managed 18 miles on sunday morning with an early half 6 start so i was home in time for the start of the london marathon, 2 hours 37 mins for my run, got 20 pencilled in this Sunday before headin to Hampden to cheer on the penny daintees to the cup final. And if by chance we do get to the final its only the day before the Edinburgh marathon, nae bevvy for me that day then!!
  23. Ran the Heaven and Hell Half this morning, oh ya fuker, tough going in the wind and snow. Some mega serious up hills to contend with especially at 8 miles for a 2 and half mile climb, felt like a mountain goat!! And the wind straight into my pus was howling at 30/40mph, loved it though to be honest, felt magic at the end even if my time of 1 hr 50 10 secs was 6 mins off my Alloa time. This was seriously tough going and great training run to get in my legs. A flat-ish 18 miles in comparison beckons next weekend, bring it on!!
  24. The massage was a pricey 45 quid!!! Fuk me i thought it was 30 quid, about collapsed when told 45, worth it though i'd say, just. The H & H starts at 11am, registration at 10am. Costs 13 quid to enter on the day. Heaven & Hell I phoned up on Sunday about it and they said it was cool to enter on the day but would cost me an extra quid.
