  1. PSV 0-4 Feyenoord, that's quite a shock...
  2. Quick Den Haag 1-0 JOS Watergraafsmeer I'm still in The Netherlands and today I got into the stereotype for the Dutch and cycled from my mother's home to The Hague. Quick were one of the original big Dutch teams who won one Dutch title and 4 Dutch cups. They also once won three Dutch cups in a row, something that since then has only been equalled by Ajax and PSV. Their last main trophy was over a century ago. Like many clubs from back then, they are also multisport. In the last two decades or so they are far better known for their cricket team, who are one of the biggest sides in the Dutch league. Their football team did climb up the leagues in recent years though and they are in the fourth tier now. They very much represent the city's elite. Their opponents today are from Amsterdam and very much represent the elite over there. Very friendly people there from both sides. The ground is lovely with a beautiful old stand and terracing in front of the club house. Great afternoon out all together.
  3. SC Feijenoord 0-0 DHSC Today I went to the local community club in the area of Feijenoord. They are a separate club from the professional club just with local lads in the Dutch fifth tier. They share their ground with the women and U21 team of the professional club. The game wasn't great but the ground was good and it was a good afternoon out. The game played at the pitch next door was much busier as Feyenoord U19 were playing Ajax...
  4. I love all the groundhopping I've been doing and obviously my games with Lochee United. But nothing is better than going to your own team you grew up with. Excelsior Rotterdam 3-1 FC Dordrecht. My first visit in 3 years and the first time I have seen us win in 12 1/2 years (yes, the times I went since moving country I've always picked rubbish games, other than one in which we won promotion after a draw). Just amazing to finally be back and see everyone. (yes I know, non-random games you're going to for this pish etc. etc., but I couldn't resist posting this here)
  5. Bedlington Terriers 2-1 Easington Colliery Today is was in Northumberland for non-football related reasons. Obviously I couldn't resist going to a game anyway. So I went to Dr Pit Welfare Park for this game in the Northern League Division Two. Great game and a very friendly club.
  6. Sorry to hear that, all the best with everything.
  7. I thought both sides were pretty evenly matched, so we're going to have to agree to disagree. On a different subject though, good to hear you were back at football. I hope you're doing well.
  8. We were unlucky on Saturday, where we were clearly the poorer team against East Craigie, we did deserve something from the game at Broughty, a draw would probably have been a fair result. Then again, that's football. With Carnoustie dropping points the league is still wide open so no reason to panic yet. We're still missing a few players, with Coupar Angus being the only league game between now and early October, there at least is some time for the injured players to recover. Obviously I'd like us to win the cup games we've got as well, but the league must be the priority.
  9. Hearts Women 1-2 Hamilton Academical Today I went to the Oriam for this game. First half wasn't the most attractive. There were just a handful of chances, including a penalty for the guests, but the Hearts goalkeeper made a great save. Second half was much more open. Hearts took the lead, but two more penalties gave Accies the win. The second penalty was deep into stoppage time and scored after a rebound. I found it very soft, so Hearts can definitely feel hard done by. Having said that, over the full 90 minutes Accies were the better side.
  10. For most people on here this wouldn't be "random", but for me it kinda is. A double header for me yesterday. After having watched us at Broughty Athletic, I went to Hampden Park for Scotland 1-0 Moldova.
  11. The post is saying other associations and leagues are involved in the discussions and positive about this, so I guess that includes the SFA.
  12. I was at the game too and I agree with what you said. Oakley should have been more than 1 up at HT and then let it slip. The referee lost control, first too many yellows as you said, but how he didn't give any reds in the incidents late on still baffles me. Quick head count got me to 55.
  13. Easthouses Lily 1-1 Oakley United Decent ground, clearly a lot has been done to it recently as a lot looked new. The match was not the most exiting, but the second half the ref lost control of the game. Some fights on the pitch, managers nearly fighting with each other. Most of the game I stood behind the dug outs and the arguments between the managers provided great entertainment. How no red cards were shown still baffles me!
  14. Tweedmouth Rangers 5-6 Thornton Hibs, after extra time A nice trip down to Berwick and I made a proper day out of it. I met a friend of mine who stays near Berwick, we had a nice catch up and some lovely chats with people before and during the game. The ground is lovely. They really have done a lot of work. I spoke to some of the Tweedmouth committee. They are a very friendly club and the volunteers have a lot of enthusiasm. The game was spectacular. Some excellent goals. Thornton Hibs took a 1-4 lead, but I thought that was really harsh on Tweedmouth. They did well to fight back to 4-4 and take the game to extra time. In extra time Thornton Hibs just had that bit more. Overall an excellent day out.
  15. We were actually in the same pub before the game!
  16. Well, a very day at the office and that after an excellent display against Downfield on Wednesday. It was rubbish, but I'm kinda happy there is no midweek football now as it gives the players some time to recover as clearly not all players were fully fit.
  17. Enjoy! Tweedmouth v Thornton Hibs for me tomorrow, looking forward to it.
  18. It's difficult to say, he is very good for us, but then the difference between us and Premiership level is massive as well. Maybe he now hopes to grow with us if we get promoted.
  19. The relegation rules from the HL are at least far more understandable. There are only 2 licensed clubs in the leagues below and other than a handful of sides in the Midlands League and Banks O'Dee not much in terms of quality in tier 6 either. The situation underneath the LL is considerably different.
  20. After our game at Downfield Park I went down the road to North End Park. I managed to catch most of the second half of Dundee United Women 2-10 Hibs Women which finished under the lights.
  21. Great 5-0 victory for us at Downfield tonight. We dominated from start to finish, a penalty got us 1-0 up and not too long after the second. In the second half we kept dominating and scored the 3rd pretty soon after half time. An absolute beauty from George Johnston got us up to 4-0. George then also scored the fifth through a rebound of a penalty to complete his hattrick. Great team performance and great individual performance by George Johnston who was definitely the man of the match.
  22. Exactly what happened in The Netherlands. When colts joined the pyramid, they had fairly decent attendances. They soon dropped when the novelty wore off. a few years later they were consistently the bottom teams in the attendance tables with even the smallest non-colt sides staying above them all. In away games they rarely even take double figures nowadays. Most home teams don't even bother opening away ends when playing colts. If away fans do turn up, they just put them on the main stand to save costs. That all even applies to Ajax, by all measures a massive club. I dare to bet exactly the same will happen in Scotland if the OF stay in the pyramid for the longer term.
  23. From what I heard, that's far from the case. They were apparently really accommodating in the talks with the Tayside clubs that resulted in the Highland pyramid. From the information I have, Lochee United and Tayport are the closest to licensing. They've already started with lights at Lochee, electrical cables for them have already gone in.
  24. I was having a drink with a Dundee supporting mate. Then it suddenly turned out a mate of his couldn't go and they had a season ticket left over, so he offered a free game to me today. It would have been rude to say no so I went to Dens Park and watched Dundee 2-2 Hibs.
  25. Well, that was a good trip out to Aberdeen yesterday, despite the horrible ground of Bridge of Don Thistle. Bridge of Don were very physical, which ended up costing them. We deserved to take a 1-0 lead, then they equalised. We were getting stronger and then BoD went down to 10 just before HT with one of their players deliberately stamping on one of ours. We scored quickly after HT and never really looked in danger after that. In the end, it finished 4-1 and they finished with 9 as one of their players deliberately shot a ball at one of ours whilst already on a booking.
