  1. Hope Lochee's injuries clear up and they make it through to the next round BOD are a very good side, but we have recovered well from the poor spell finishing with the defeat against Broughty and we had a couple of good performances since then. Yes, I mentioned the injuries, but to be fair, credit should also go to the lads who stepped up since then. Some are as young as 16 or 17 and were effectively thrown in the deep end. They held themselves well. We have to be at our best to be able to beat BOD, but if we are there is a chance.
  2. I don't want to look ahead too much as a very tough tie against Banks O'Dee is coming up, but if we win, we'd travel to Petershill. Hopefully we'll get there as that would be a good trip, new ground for me too.
  3. So far only North End through to the fourth round of the Junior Cup. Hopefully we can join them next week, but Banks O' Dee will be very tough, especially looking at their result yesterday.
  4. It's definitely whinging! Look back at the posts since the results started going wrong. Haven't seen or heard any other clubs moan about their injuries like Lochee Utd do. Severe lack of humility coming from Thompson Park lately. It's not a good look. "Severe lack of humility"... You're pathetic. Meanwhile, I'm proud of how the club is improving due to very hard work, thank you.
  5. We're not whinging. We get on with it, but the current amount of injuries is really extreme. Nothing wrong with mentioning it.
  6. Lochee United 6-0 Letham Great performance from a still very depleted squad. It should probably have been more, some chances were wasted in the second half and the referee missed at least two stonewall penalties. But I can't really complain about that result with so many injuries.
  7. Attendance was 6,545. I enjoyed being there even though it wasn't the best game.
  8. I've been trying to find info on that one as well as I'm thinking of going there but I also couldn't find any information on tickets etc. Would it normally be pay on the day, even against Celtic?
  9. This. If anything, the shambles this season show that they don't add anything. Bin them for next season and don't ever let them come back.
  10. Brentford 0-1 Chelsea My second new ground in London this season after Wimbledon back in August. Ground looks great, but Griffin Park will still be missed my many. Good atmosphere in the home end, but the away end were very quiet despite them winning.
  11. Attendance was 211, someone went around to do a head count. Good evening of football.
  12. Burntisland Shipyard 2-3 Lochore Welfare An excellent night of football. Lovely ground and a great game for a neutral. It was a good decision to move the game to a Friday night as it was very busy, the attendance was 211.
  13. Knowing my record with bets, the one time I bet against them they pull off some amazing shock and get a draw or win...
  14. There is no reason for them to fold, but they should find their level. In the lower reaches of the EOS playing against Coldstream/Tweedmouth etc. they'd probably be able to settle. The problem is if they just slide down the leagues and have another horrid season next season as you rightfully say can be expected, it could completely demotivate them. They'd probably be best off asking the EOS to put them in Division 2 next season or so, but I doubt they will do that.
  15. Broxburn Athletic 3-0 Inverkeithing Hillfield Swifts My first game in Scotland in nearly a month as I'm back home from my travels. Enjoyable night out.
  16. DVO'32 2-5 HBSS Another game in the category: "I'm in the area anyway so why not". Tier 8 in The Netherlands, first half the hosts were by far the better side but they completely collapsed. Basic ground with a decent bar inside. As it started pishing it down, quite a few of the 100 or so in attendence, myself included, moved inside. Tomorrow I'll board the ferry to Newcastle so this was my last one on the continent for a while.
  17. PSV Women 2-1 FC Twente Women The biggest game currently in the women's eredivisie with last season's champions away to the runners-up. Good ground again, facilities in Women's football improved a lot in recent years, with Ajax, Feyenoord and PSV now all having a fully licensed second stadium they use for their women. Attendance was around 1,000. In the first half, only the main stand was used, but it was really hot in the sun so the stewards opened the opposite stand and lots of people, myself included, moved at HT.
  18. Sporting Hasselt 1-1 Berchem Sport In the space of three weeks I have now visited non-league games in four different countries. After Scotland, England and The Netherlands, I went to Belgium this time. I was visiting a friend who lives next to this ground so we went to this game in the Belgian fourth tier. Lovely ground, partly very old and one brand new part. Game was very physical and entertaining for a neutral.
  19. Ajax women 2-1 Heerenveen women Decent game today. First half wasn't very exciting, but the second half was much better. Ajax won through a late goal which I think was deserved. Decent attendance and I managed to capture a lovely sunset.
  20. It's also worth noting that in terms of support, finances and facilities, Katwijk are bigger than a number of pro sides. But as the situation around the pyramid and different factions of the Dutch game make the situation around that in Scotland currently and over the last 20 or so years look efficient, uncontroversial and well-managed, they are still non-league.
  21. The one on the left is their club house, with a very nice pub inside. The one on the right contains facilities for business partners, players etc.
  22. Katwijk 2-3 Harkemase Boys Tonight I went to this match in the second preliminary round of the Dutch Cup. Both teams are amongst the biggest part-time sides in the country, playing "tweede divisie" (third tier). Crowd was comfortably four figures and the ground was excellent. Atmosphere was great too, with a firework show before kick-off. Great game for a neutral which the better side won. The guests have now gone through to the first round proper with teams from the top two divisions, so they can hope for a big team in the draw.
