And will Robbie be interested in the Penicuik job? Seeing he lives locally, ( and nothing happening at NDP) it appears

Surely Robbie wouldnt be interested in a big step down to Penicuik?  Has the Bonnyrigg position been advertised yet? Benji Boy has been getting his CV updated for both Bonnyrigg and Penicuik!

  2. Bill,

You critisiced the club in your post 2 back regarding players sponsorship lol club is being run great ! Better financially than it ever has been dare I suggest, Bank balance down a little but vast improvements in the ground. If you did make a financial contribution to the club then it goes against all you have been talking about since March.

BTW I dont like Swimming - I prefer fishing, night fishing with a few tins

EGM @ Musselburgh tonight according to Twitter?

Despite the on pitch success things appear (from the outside) to be looking less than rosy at Musselburgh, manager leaving, players leaving in their droves and rumours of money troubles.

Clown in charge been at it for years. Why players would even consider signing for him raises doubts about their intelligence to be honest. Players months behind on wages/ Manager also with little chance of receiving the funds  and its all down to one man.  I am amazed that this has not be raised at a more senior level years before now, sad times.

To be honest I havent  a clue what will happen, personally I thought we were going along ok and didnt see all this coming a year ago , so who knows, what I do think is that the later teams to move have panicked and left in fear of being " left behind".

If it does have to happen in the West I only hope it will be done en mass and not fragmented like it has been in the East.

Yes the true pioneers being Kelty and then Dalkeith, Blackburn and in turn Bonnyrigg planned dealing with these issues looking at the positives and negatives and yes I know we had a difference of option on this. However, I do agree that some teams voted to stay even a month back but the momentum is moving so quickly that some have panicked in particular the clubs that have an association with the top table at the SJFA.  This has been on the table for months and even if these clubs werent planning on jumping they should have considered all options in particular when Bonnyrigg (or Lithgae) announced that they were jumping.

My concern is still the lack of leadership (from the sjfa)  and communication to the east clubs who are still planning to stay  under the juniors.

You're not stating why you have an opinion, you get presented with a litany of facts by multiple people and ignore them while saying "just my opinion mate".  If that's not ignorance then I don't know what is.

Think you missed out the part I said I'll take on board the advice and go look into it.

I wouldnt be questioning you. However, I would be questioning your committees view on this. You deal with on pitch and they should be dealing with off pitch / Association matters whilst liasing with yourself.

The info that has emerged from Bo'ness on this is that Bo'ness heard from Newtongrange that they were leaving when they arrived to play against them on Saturday. Given they are one of the few traditional big clubs left in the superleague south of the Tay, this led to a string of panic driven phonecalls between the committees of Bo'ness, Lithgae and Broxburn on Saturday afternoon, who agreed that the best thing to do was to move to the EoS and to hold the club meetings needed to ratify this. We'll see what unfolds basically.

Since when were Nitten a big team??

At the same time, I think that clubs need some certainty about what their divisions will look like next season.  I'm not sure they could extend things beyond the AGM on 7th June or it could end up dragging on forever.

Got to take into account players contracts also? Clubs will be putting them in at the start of June right?

Your silence has made my day on these topics  now to enjoy my holiday and sign off from this thread..and leave it to the people who are trying to make positive contributions to the future of the game and not try and score personal points with someone who has made his mind up for next season ...its still a reasonable democracy we live in..and we still are allowed personal choices......again enjoy your new adventure next season and good luck to all at New Dundas Park..players and management team along with the Board and hard working Committee members...hope it all works out for you.

Bill, I am at work and have more to do than hang about street corners peddling your nonsense to anyone who will listen. The clubs is better run that it ever was especially when your cohorts were there. I doubt that the current excellent commitee would stoop to the levels that you mention. I dont know why you bother going anyways you have little positive to say about the club.

The Social club - They made their bed they can lie in it.  Run by dinosaurs who have their own agenda now that reminds me of someone!

Now Bill - your team is away its looking like most of the league is away. This arguement is done. You lost.  The clubs jumping will be in a better position than remaining in the juniors now go and find something else to cry about.  For someone not going to see Bonnyrigg next year you have a lot of bitterness all you do is scaremonger. Maybe you should print the licencing manual and have a wee read of it on your holidays.

Don't think the previous regime..who took down the old boundary wall to make the current football clubs car park finished it as you well know...all part of the  near demise of the club because of mismanagement of taxpayers funds in that era......Not a friend of mine by any stretch of your imagination...and never has been...but some courted him at the club in his time...that's all they had...Maybe the current Board will right that wrong and complete the job with a layer of asphalt from the funding going to be available for ground improvements from the new league set up...….Brit army not welcome..ask your friends who wear the Nationalist Tricolour as a badge of honour at every opportunity...and didn't allow the local army cadets to sell Remembrance day poppies at the ground two years ago...despite the club losing players and Committee in two world wars....enough said.

You conveniently forgot to acknowledge the courtesy afforded you on match days by the Social club. to use their car park free of charge...is that too hard?

I dont drive as I said

Sure they will.....new motto at New Dundas..Upwards and Onwards...…...Don't think your uniform will be welcome at New Dundas Sargeant….its the Brit army and that's a no no.

    Bill,

Has your old pal/ cohort finally finished the car park? Hes finally done a good job. Shame you wont get to use it if I were to drive I would have parked in your space but I dont. Brit Army uniform not welcomed at NDP? Care to explain...?

See you have still got the fishing rod out and the many changes of bait have got you no where but keep trying......and the last people I need to buy me a season ticket for any grade of football are the whacky baccy and cider swillers who attend New Dundas Park.... sure I will miss junior football in the Lothians but that's the way of the world at the moment and I have accepted that..though you don't seem to accept my word for it...but that's your prerogative.. Yes it was pleasing to see Bonnyrigg Rose emerge eventually as Super League Champions for the supporters sake after a few hiccups in the last two weeks..I.don't swallow all this big Rose and wee Rose drivel that seems to give a lot of people great pleasure in the High Street.....a bit of respect should be shown to the other Rose who have a fine history of achievement in the junior game too...it will be interesting to see the how the game between them pans out tomorrow night..

Yes I am well and will miss my Saturdays at New Dundas Park in good honourable company and the many other friendly junior venues that I have visited in the past years but that is my choice and as I have said before my few coppers wont be missed in the new scheme of things in the Eof S.....but I will come along if they have a home tie in the William Hills cup that they have earned by winning the league......enjoy your priveleged Super League Champions celebrations in your tight circle it may be a long time till you have another such occasion.....Good luck in your travels next season...

To be fair Bill it looks like a got a bit of a bite there! Anyways the offer is still there .... Ive never tried whacky baccy in my life thats a scandalous statement to make! I am not too confident regards the game tonight we have not been great the last few weeks.

At least next season you wont have so far to travel with many of the games being derby games and probably bigger crowds also  as not many teams bring fans with the exception of a few.  I am pleased that you have accepted that this is the best way forward for all. Many clubs have now figured out that the future is licencing and I dont think you will be able to stay away !

I always enjoy celebrations.  I am hopeful we can win the EOS next season Bill so hopefully another celebration next year.

Question......When do we see the new Eof S league/s structure for next season ? Or is it already agreed or are the suggested local derbies just conjecture at the moment. or have the current members decided which current members are going to step aside to let the juniors fill the top places in their league as a jesture for joining them next season..

Never seen what the admission prices are in that league..know it costs £7/4 for our local LL games.

    Hi Bill,

Are you finally coming round to the idea about EOS football? I was going to buy you a season ticket for any East Junior team for next season as well.

Brilliant news about the Big Rose winning the league eh? Looks like that hard working Wee Rose committee are finally seeing sense also ... Lets abide by their decision as you said.

    Hope you are well.

JC you haven't told everyone why you hold such an opinion though, I guess that is why the question was asked.
For example, have you took the time to look into what the eosfl offers over and above that which the lower league junior teams receive right now from the sjfa? Have you considered that without new challenges and change some of the clubs you speak of may cease to exist in a few years? Have you given regard to having an under 20s development league to develop new talent from and the new players entering a club because of this? Have you considered that in moving to the eosfl these so called mediocre clubs may infact attract a calibre of player they would never have been able to attract otherwise?
Holding an opinion is fine, and you are entitled to yours certainly, however I would suggest looking into what is on offer for the clubs (not on the park teams) who are joining the eosfl. This would tell anyone who looked that there are prospects/potential to progress off the park, which would not be possible by remaining junior (whole club progression - not just on park 1st team success).
That isn't my opinion though, in analysing what the pros are for remaining junior and the pros for joining the eosfl - if I were a club, at any level in the Juniors, I would move, everytime. The heart can't rule the head with these things (from someone who played junior for his entire adult career), the logical decision with what's on offer (longer term) by joining the pyramid far outweighs anything the sjfa can offer a club. If you take both associations, for what they have written down in black and white, in their constitution, processes and regulations, it really appears a straight forward decision. Logically.

At no point did I call any club mediocre!!! All what you have said is great BUT where does the funding come from to do ground improvements and run u20 sides ECT? There is a pot for EoS I understand but when that pot needs to be shared out to another say 30 clubs then each club receives or potentially receives a great deal less than they were surviving on so these teams leaving for the promise of a pot of gold and stability to survive are being lead up a garden path imo

Have you spoke with any of the clubs that are jumping? Have you spoken to the EOS? Kelty? Even some of the West Lothian clubs who now appear to be considering jumping? The decision in the end is the clubs but I would try and get as much information as you can as quickly as the clubs possibly can in order that at least your club can make an informed decision either way.

    Good luck ..

Between reading this thread and reading the East of Scotland one on ‘new members’ it really is entirely incomprehensible to me why Linlithgow and Bo’ness haven’t spoken offline to each other and come to the obvious conclusion that a joint move to the EoSFL is the only sensible move to be made - certainly at this juncture and, to be honest, even before now. There is absolutely nothing whatsoever to be lost and so, so much to be gained - whether it be simply in their standing within the game, whether it be financially (and let’s ignore the embarrassing contributions of the feeble minded amongst us ranting about EoSFL membership being all about the money) or whether it be in grasping the reality of the future.

I honestly believe if these two great clubs stand still just now they will regret it for such a very, very long time. Whitburn refused to embrace the Super League and with it the future when East Region reorganisation belatedly arrived several years ago while so many (indeed all) around them did and, in doing so, understood the reality of progress. Everyone, including - I would hope - those in charge at Whitburn now knows how badly that worked out. Incredibly, lessons have not been learned at Central
Park and they look steadfast in their eagerness to repeat this quite catastrophic error in judgement.

Surely the two biggest and greatest clubs in the east have the wherewithal to speak to each other and avoid repeating such awful folly?

Deary me I so really, really hope so.

I would include Broburn in this statement.  A well run club and it would easily obtain a licence.
