That'd be a bloody long way to send an ambulance! There's an ambulance station less than two minutes' drive from my house. I reckon that's where the last two for me and the one for my daughter came from and I reckon it's where any more would come from to my house too.
When I think about it, that sounds really bad! One ambulance for me was after my daughter was born at home and the second was while Scott was doing his best not to be born at home despite my wishes! So there's only really been one accident and that didn't even require an ambulance - I just made the mistake of checking my knowledge with NHS Direct who said "she's a small child with burns to her feet, I'll have to send an ambulance... No, you can't refuse it, if she doesn't need it then they'll say so when they get there, but I'll put you through to the ambulance service now". Honestly - such an overreaction to a non-event. I'd only wanted to check how long the redness should take to clear up before concern should kick in - my daughter was happily playing in a bath of luke-warm water by then to keep her feet cool, with no pain and no real injury! Then they phoned back to tell me they'd also be alerting Social Services. Several hours later the guy's supervisor phoned me to say that was utter nonsense and apologising for what had been said to me. It was madness!
