  1. The people who used to "watch" the match whilst posting regular updates on Twitter are probably now the ones who "watch" it through the viewfinder of the camera, or from behind a mic. There aren't that many volunteers around and clubs can only let a minimum in to cover the games.
  2. No, sorry, I'm not going to accept the clap-happy tag after a game (and a run) like this. We played well...it was a pretty even game between two sides with a point between them. In my opinion we should have just edged it. That is realism. You, my friend, are a pessimist and enjoy bringing the club down regardless. Fair enough, just don't call yourself a supporter.
  3. Did you watch it? The "own goal" was an unavoidable deflection off McManus...unfortunate but not a deliberate throw-away. I'll wait for the highlights to decide about the penalty...and whether we too should have had a penalty. You must be so disappointed with this undefeated run. At least the SPFL have recognised Faz and the team' s achievements.
  4. Shame the effect the red card had on the game can't also be rescinded. With 11 men we could well have hung on for the win.
  5. Correction...Squad so far: David Smith, Max Currie and Conor Mcmanus!
  6. I'd like to see Victoria return, now he's been released from Airdrie. I'm sure he will get better offers from elsewhere, but hope he remembers how much he enjoyed playing at Stair Park...we certainly enjoyed watching him. Most of all, I'd like to see the attendance improving. It's embarrassing when the visiting team brings more supporters than we can muster! And celebrating our birthday in League One again, is as ambitious as I'm going to get!
  7. Obviously I hope Stranraer stay up. Of the rest, I'd like to lose a few Angus clubs from this league...too many miles on my old banger and they bring no more than a handful to us, so our attendance figures are really being clobbered compared to them, on an already impossibly low budget. So, Peterhead to have a sudden wobble to the end of the season, tumbling into the play-off position and failing! Edinburgh City to come up and Stenny down automatically. Brechin to go down and Annan to come up through the play-offs. At the other end, Arbroath and Forfar to go up and Partick and Alloa to come down. League One next season (in alphabetical order, lol): Airdrie Alloa Annan Dumbarton East Fife Edinburgh City Montrose Partick Thistle Raith Stranraer There, that's cut a few thousand miles from next year's travelling and increased our attendance. Thank you!
  8. A bit early for my birthday, but Faz has signed for another two years. If you wish hard enough...!
  9. I hope we can persuade Faz to stay at the end of the season cause I don't know who else of any calibre would agree to manage a team on such a small budget in front of such a low attendance.
  10. Wow! So far we've played 2 out of 6 friendlies, tried out some triallists, the team have more or less all met each other...and the negativity has started already. How about giving them a chance (quarter of a season maybe) before expressing doubts? Or even wait till March, as that's when the season starts to pan out? We have this every year and, even after all the upheaval in January, we still were knocking at the door of the play-offs, out-performing our budget and our gate! It counts for nothing (for all the same reasons...too early to tell) but I've watched both friendlies. There is a fair bit of experience, a lot of passion, a lot of youth and energy...and Faz! I'm quite excited for what is going to be an interesting season ahead. I asked some of the players if they read P&B. They said no, it can be soul-destroying! Chin up, Beefy...it's not like you!
  11. ...and Max Currie and Lyle Avci. Great signings! http://www.stranraerfc.org/
  12. Probably not too much more than that, to be fair! Our gates at the end of the season were around half the gate away at Airdrie or Arbroath, and we're not going to get the Black and White £, or many visiting supporters from all the Angus clubs. It's going to be a lean season, unless we get a good Cup run, and will take similar inspirational work from Faz and Stuart and staff to achieve similar results to what they managed on a drastically reduced budget and team in the second half of the last season. It was a tough season to be a Stranraer supporter but it certainly wasn't boring, and the highs of the Golden Goose, the away win at Arbroath and the ensuing run of wins, and of course, spoiling Ayr's party at Somerset Park, were all the sweeter coming on the back of a tough winter. I'm happier the club are cutting their cloth accordingly, and would be delighted to achieve 5th place again, against all the odds, and maybe a scrape into the play-offs. On top of that, we are developing good young players that are attracting the interest of clubs like Motherwell, West Brom and Aberdeen. If anyone has ideas how to improve the gate, sell more season tickets, or attract more investment then we might be able to afford the strikers, the Willie Gibsons and Malkys that people expect us to sign, and push for promotion.
  13. But...but...but...we've played local lad Johnny Baxter. Surely that means people will flock back to games now? That was the reason they never came along, wasn't it?
  14. Am I the only one who would keep Okoh (if we can get him cheaply enough, with strikers being hard to come by)? I know he hasn't delivered this season but I think he can be really tricky and with some more work on attitude, and a bit of confidence in front of goal, I think he could come good next year! I agree, sadly, re Div, and am unsure re Dykes, Thommo and Woodsy. Aggy, when he's good is very good, but had a long off period, and I believe he is costly, so would like to see new terms. But I'd love to keep the rest. *ducks and waits for the torrents of disagreement!
