FWIW, 30 league games is standard in the EoS and WoS and is the SFA's preferred size for non-league. The LL had 16 members from 2015-16 until the B teams were added in 2021-22, though they ran with one extra in 2020-21 because the didn't want to relegate anyone in the Covid season.
Yes but for ex-SPFL clubs it is way too few games to constitute a proper season - and filling the gaps with miscellaneous cups has little attraction

The system is a bottleneck, the reality has been different for the reasons you have listed. Any pyramid where licensed champions don't automatically get promotion is flawed. The play offs which exist to get into the LL and to get into Scottish League Two are an embarrassment. Add to that the fact that Club 42 don't go straight through the trapdoor and its a minter for the "Scottish Football Pyramid"
It’s hardly an embarrassment - there was no promotion to Tier 4 and the SPFL though gave that concession for nothing in return. Why should the SPFL make another concession - what’s in it for them. It also doesn’t seem that all the Tier 5 clubs that have won promotion are advocating that the SPFL change the current arrangement.

I refer you to @jimbaxters post. I am not a fan of any club in the WOS. My point mirrors jb's. League champions shouldn't have to enter a dog fight to earn their reward.
That’s fine if there is one league and one champion - but when there are multiple leagues then you can justify a further ‘dog fight’ to establish who actually is the ‘top dog’ - the Supreme Champion to use more Crufts speak.
Indeed in a multi league feeder system several clubs in one league may be better teams than the champions in the others

The clubs could have considered not voting in two "guest teams" and would have had 4 fewer league games. That might have helped. No it wouldn’t as 30 league games is not much of a league season

Who are they answerable to in terms of their rules and regulations
The SFA - exactly the same as the West, South and East Leagues

The rules for the ‘lower play off’ are
“Qualifying Clubs” means the champion club or clubs from within the Qualifying Leagues which are eligible for promotion to the SLFL in terms of the rules of the SLFL.
Eligibility is being SFA licensed. The qualifying leagues would need to change their rules to be that there champions were the highest finishing licensed club to ensure a play off case. But I don’t believe that could be voted through or have credibility with the league’s members. Beith finish top they are not going to accept not being declared champions for exampleThe Lowland League rules specify only champion clubs are eligible to gain membership

As I said, time will tell.
This is the relevant part of the agreement as amended in 2021 and agreed by all 4 parties involved.
“SLFL Champion” means the club playing in the SLFL in any Season (excluding any ‘Guest’, ‘colt’, ‘B’ ‘second’, ‘reserve’ or like or equivalent team which is part of a Club participating in the same Season in the SPFL and which shall not, under any circumstances, be considered to be eligible to receive the title of SLFL Champion or any other title related to its position in said league, or qualify for or be eligible for participation in the Pyramid Play-Off Competition at the end of any such Season) which is declared the Champion club of the SLFL based on the criteria specified in the rules of the SLFL;

The LL would never have let B teams in without that assurance - the bigger issue going ahead for the LL champions will be bronze licence requirements - especially in respect of their ground

I know, but what I'm saying is the test will come when a B team finishes top of the Lowland League and the LL then nominates a team for the play-off who haven't finished top of their league. Will the SPFL accept it ? Time will tell.
Yes they will - that’s all been agreed - after all letting these B teams in is helping SPFL member clubs

That has still to be tested as a B team hasn't won the Lowland League yet, so we don't know how the Scottish FA will react if a non-champion club were to be put forward for the Upper Pyramid Play-Off.
B teams can’t be champions

Very good detailed explanation and some detail of why the pyramid system is flawed. The Sfa wanted a Wosfl to balance out there structure. I don’t think they expected the volume of clubs to all move over but clubs were reluctant to not move incase they were left out. Then came the obstacles slowly being put in place regarding promotion and relegation etc, criteria for promotion , licences required etc the list goes on and I’m 100% certain it’s not finished at that yet. Then you have the low and league letting clubs buy into their league how is that fair and sporting integrity when they can’t be promoted and it stops others from genuine promotion. It is the correct to have a pyramid system but not under the current way it works
B teams aren’t stopping anyone getting promotion. If they weren’t there the LL would be operating with 16 teams and the same promotion/relegation rules

It’s a draw each year - the draw this year was made at a meeting of the PGB

The chap that presented the Andy Forbes trophy was his son of the same name, is that right? I was struggling to hear when he was introduced.
Think I heard it said that he was a goalie and coach in his time, I take it that is the same person mentioned in the Jubilee Athletic article in Saturday’s programme?
Yes indeed

Any chance we squirrelled away the league cup cash to spend in 24/25, as that would not have been in any budgetary projections heading into 23/24 as only got the invite last minute?
No

What happens to Albion Rovers if they were to be relegated?
West rules read as follows
Any club(s) relegated from the SLFL who are
a) based within agreed geographical boundary of the League, and
b) was previously a member of the League or a member of the SLFL at the time of the formation of the League
will automatically become a full member of the League and shall play in the Premier Division. Any clubs relegated from the SLFL that was previously a member of any other comparable league shall not be eligible for membership of the League.

I assume Brechin could reach bronze licence standards in short order - how are Buckie and Fraserburgh placed?

I know
Shocking to think someone would pick 3 defensive players from a team with the vest defensive record in the league by a mile, along with a striker who is regularly scoring
But you can have best defensive record in a league by setting up defensively and putting lots of players behind the ball. That doesn’t necessarily mean you have the best individual defenders

I was wondering what our average crowd is this season as they guy who does them isn’t that up to date, so I added them up and with one home game left the average league attendance has been 294 at Central Park.
Does anyone know if we count season ticket holders that don’t attend, I’m sure previously we didn’t, not sure if changed?
I think that is something to build on and not too bad considering there are still a bunch of clubs who have travelling fans in single digits.
We don’t include season ticket holders who don’t attend in the official attendance. Doesn’t make any sense to do so as if someone isn’t present how could they be attending the match and be part of the attendance - just used by some clubs to put a bit of spin on their crowds

We were playing some really good stuff at the start of the season even when we lost you still felt that at least we had been closed to winning. Douggie Hill hasn't been replaced.I
Is there a team left to play that we will beat?
Just to change topic, why don't we try kicking towards the high street second half. This was always the way years ago.
On kicking towards the High Street we don’t automatically get to choose which way we kick. In addition, it generally seems the fashion in football is to take the wind advantage in the first half nowadays.

I’m not absolutely sure of this but I think it’s one place only with the Highland League getting two spots. The second spot is alternate between LL & HL. I’m sure someone will correct me if I’m incorrect.
No places are guaranteed for HL or LL teams

A lot to be down about in Bonnyrigg at the moment but got to focus on the positives - when they go back down all the 'improvements' made to their ground will at least scrape them above Cowdenbeath in the shit LL facilities list when they go down
You do realise Cowdenbeath’s ground met bronze licensing standards with 2 large stands and extensive concrete stepped terracing

Would be happy with 18 real clubs with one down and 2nd bottom in play off with the 3 champions. Thus 2 potentially could come up
