Sorry, the bit about agendas is just a nonsense for me. You talk about a “winning feeling” but we won just over half of games in the third tier in a season which culminated in a 7-2 defeat to Airdrie. Really not sure what aspect of that was a winning season.

Equally, you mention “the nucleus of a good team”. We have an unbalanced squad with no right back, a dodgy centre half, a defensive midfielder past his best and no real goalscorer. If you call that a good team, I’d hate to see your definition of a bad one.

We all want the best for the club but to present the situation as sunshine and light and those of us being legitimately critical as having hidden agendas is ludicrous.

We went on a 13-game unbeaten run, and got to a Scottish cup semi-final for the firsts time since f**k knows, ok the draw being favourable or not I see that as a positive despite the end result.  As I mentioned some of the posters on here just seem to want to see us fail or any reason to say i told you so, I'm not a happy clapper I'm a realist if you want to see the team win week in and week out then follow one of the arse-cheeks mate.  I would love for us to steamroller every f**king team in this league but i know we will fall at some point and even at that one-week folk would still call for McGlynns head even if we were to win week in and week out sitting at the top of the League with 100 points at the end of the season so how about giving it a rest and cut a a bit of slack and for once be a realist on how its going to go if we are cut adrift with quarter of the games done then so be it but ffs go and start up One F again as your honestly soul crushing p and b

As for squad as much is Yeats isn't a RB the young lad gives a shite which can be said more and as much as we don't like it we also have Brad McKay (albeit the 2 of them are not natural right backs but hey it is what it is). Allen is making an adjustment to full time football and as for MacIver gie the lad a chance look at players in the past like Gareth Hutchison came to us from Stenny and was a sprinter originally done not too bad, Cadette on his first game for us didn't look like he would do much either even players like Marino Keith so how about gie them a chance before you hang them. So far you want McGlynn and most of them canned as not good enough before the leagues started i don't even know what is good enough and if we were see Ken Eadie as an example there is no guarantee they are going to work for us regardless what system is played.

  2. Looking at this with a few takes, compared to the past few seasons of shite we have had to endure under M&M, Hartley, MacKinnon, Sheerin, Holt, and Rennie it's the first time I have enjoyed going back to the games, and for a change, we got a winning feeling back, especially with the shambles at Boardroom level under Lang and Co.

No one is happy with the way the season ended and bear in mind we have had comedy value at other clubs' expense of collapses of epic proportions in the past in the final run in/play offs, this time karma bit us in the arse. We have the nucleus of a good team under McGlynn which we haven't had before and a bit stability instead of a complete rebuild.  I do think there is an element of the posters on here that either have an agenda with the new board/model, McGlynn and generally just want to see us fail for the sake they can post on here with "I told you so" and McGlynn could win the champions league with us they would still want him sacked. The point is never to make a decision when you are angry (i.e. Airdrie play-off games).

Nesbit like the guy or loathe him (personally not sold on him) with the 2 yr deal thing he was in good form and as much as it would have been slim to little chance he was a sellable asset where we could have got something in this climate, especially with fan ownership model we need the funds. Also, wouldn't have lost much sleep if Morrison had left either tbh but I get the point of him being our top scorer and folk wanting him to stay.

End of the day if we had appointed someone else after Airdrie there is more chance we would have ended up with another rebuild another unknown manager/risk and another season where we would have probably had to sack him and folk saying the board should never have appointed him sack the board etc McGlynn as is the board is damned if he/they do and damned if he/They don't. (by the way that's not a pronoun thing its more a reference to McGlynn and the Board).. 😃

Just let the season get started and see how we get on.

(football supporters are a fickle lot)..lol

  3. Pretty sure someone said at the start of last season that Mackie would be LB before McCann as McGlynn doesn't like small players in defence, we saw how that played out and IMHO I thought McCann was player of the year or should have been, the only poor game I thought he had was the Kelty game when he got played at RB.

  4. I'm no fan of drums but whoever is using them put an age limit on them, we don't want anyone referring to that old banger in the South stand ...lol 🤣

Also on the one with the stewards, there were a few occasions last season where in the south stand fella got ejected for standing at the side instead of sitting (wasn't doing any harm and wasn't in anyone's road )and also pretty sure the young kids down the front had a complaint by someone for "bad language". I'm sorry but if you don't want anyone using bad language then either sit in the family stand or just don't go, if the wee lad's parents are ok with it then I don't see why it's an issue plus they or anyone else has heard worse at school or in the street and even at home.

Wasn’t just the last bit that was poor though- we were nowhere near consistent enough throughout the season. except for a 2 month spell in the middle.

19 wins from 36 is not good enough in the third tier.

Other than the covid season it is still improving, Looking back and losing Hogarth and going for Kinnear was where we dropped form, As much as PJ had a dip in confidence coming back from injury Kinnear was a downgrade and should have been. a backup rather than first choice he slowed play too many times and went for the wrong option with his distribution.

  6. We are at this level because of our Previous BoD CC, Lang and co they made some monumental f**k ups and in a lot of ways since last summer its been night and day tbh.  We fell at the final hurdle against Airdrie on epic proportions. Yes, it was a disappointment but other than M and M and the covid season we haven't even been close to getting out of this league due to disastrous appointments.

Regardless of how we look at this objectively or just dislike JM, I like the direction we have been going.  The last bit of last season was poor but it's done and dusted and need to move forward.

Old saying never make a decision when angry and if we were to get rid as folk wanted and face another rebuild and come in mid-table again due to another poor management decision then what ? Because popular or unpopular choice of managerial appointment they wouldn't defend the board if it went wrong even if they did get who they want in the manager's position.

As for a few of the posts of late, unsure if its new accounts trying to troll or genuinely folk pissed off their old mates who have gone from the board and have an axe to grind with the new set up have a word with yourself or even better start up One F again and moan there cause since it shut down you're ruining P&B with the incessant moaning about everything whether it be the shade of green of the new pitch to the new tops to the floodlights or just any random player as a scapegoat to moan about (McKay and Nesbitt exception to that rule though both redeemed themselves to a degree last season before reverting to type)

I'd think, as a player, when the manager continually brings in someone who plays your position you must think that at some stage you'll be behind them in the pecking order and you might need to move on.

McKay benefitted from our lack of RB and need for Henderson to be deployed in midfield last time out. I can't see that happening again this time so he'll be hoping to claim a berth over Donaldson or taking the option to move if he can be guaranteed playing time.

We might need to wait until January but his days are numbered.

In fairness i thought he has done alright for the majority of the season till we got to the play offs and then implode and the least said about that goal at the TFS  against Airrie the better.

One of my bosses was involved at ICT and said he is alright he just has to be shouted at now and then to get him back on track.

Was never into autographs but happy memories standing at the Bleachfield Pavilion watching them train and have a bounce game at the end.

Strange how small snippets from 50 odd years ago can be triggered from the depths of your mind.

I dare some of the young ones at the games have those players that are a favourite but none of the current ones prob with the exception of McGinn would be in the likes of your Baptie, Geordie Watson, Roddy Manley, Alan Irvine, Alex Rae,  Andy Nicol etc

In the 60-70's it was the Bleachfield. The session would end with them running up to the Dollar Park across to Arnothill - Cockburn Street - Hope Street - Brockville.

Some of the players used to nip along Burnfoot Lane and wait at the Barr's factory and tag on at the back after the rest had passed.

    How times have changed.

It was waiting on the players getting close to the side to hand over your autograph book.

Wonder if anyone has any kicking about from the past as memories from then

  10. Anyone remember from their youth days (I'm going back to 80s here) going down to Brockville to be able to watch pre season training and down with the autograph books ?

and given the past if you were that age again who's autograph would you go for ? although given some of the past comments I think security would be needed and it wouldn't be the autograph they would be going for ..lol

  11. The end of the day lot of valid points made, firstly we can blame lack of goals but the issue is with defence so why we talking Oliver and Burrell without addressing the elephant in the Room of Brad how just seemed to go from hero to villain and Kinnear who only got the saving grace was saving the penalty yet gifting the first goal in the win at Airdrie when he arrived.

Again we also have the issue of Rowe and Morrison not getting on.  Does seem like post Ayr united there may have been a bit infighting for what reason who knows if that may have been what caused the drop in form.

Why is Burrell being singled out for this particular accusation? The whole lot of them had "quite clearly chucked it". Beat Ayr United in a Scottish Cup Q/F on the 14th March, decided that was enough and subsequently blew up what could have been a very productive end to the season in the biggest way possible.

In fact, from memory, he (in tandem with Oliver) had a very decent 90 minutes against the runaway league champions on 8/4 and came off the bench to score a last-minute equaliser against the other promoted side one week later. And on that basis alone, he contributed more in the run-in than plenty of the other charlatans and bottlers who offered the square route of f**l all in the final two months but are still hanging around creaming a wage.

Yet Burrell is specifically accused of having thrown in the towel. Or this insidious "bad influence in the dressing room" fantasy. Laughable stuff. I would not be n the least bit surprised if he returns to do us some damage next season.

I think Burrell's body language in the play off games pretty much emphasised how much he didn't give a shite or what it looked like watching him in those games.  I don't think all had chucked it but trying to get out this league as we have seen there can be no passengers Donaldson and McKay in the last game against Airdrie leading to the goal, from what Falkirk Daft says Rowe and Morrison didn't get on personally thought Rowes attitude was better than Morrison and said at the start of the season Morrison looked overweight and unfit and took him a few weeks to lose a bit again poor start to the season.
