  1. I understand there are arguments for both sides. A cup run would mean more money coming in but on the other hand it would mean more two games a week scenarios with the chances of more injuries etc.
  2. My brother and I were split up at the Queen of the South game recently. I have a ST for the KM stand and my brother was paying by cash. I got in but my brother was turned away as the cash seats had been sold out. He had to sit right at the back of the main stand near the away stand. I noticed that there were many empty seats near the front where I sit. I know the club have got to keep enough seats available for all season tickets in unlikely event we all turn up at the same game, but that hardly ever happens. Shame there isn't some way of dealing with this, it didn't spoil our day but it did affect it.
  3. I have no criticism of the Falkirk TV volunteers. My criticism is for the innaction of the club. Having a profesional in to give them a short training course on equipment and techniques, would not cost a lot and would end up benefiting the club. The quality of our highlights have been sub-par for a long time not just recently. Below par not in enthuisiasm or dedication of those involved but in various technical aspects.
  4. Football has long been an arena where you can get away with saying things that would be unacceaptable in public life elsewhere. I heard some humdingers of comments on Saturday near me that were shouted down by others. That midset is dying slowly. Yes some sections of fans of some teams behave badly but I don't tar all their supporters with that brush. I was born near Falkirk so I grew up a Falkirk supporter. If I grew up in Dunfermline I would be a Dunfermline supporter. If I grew up in Greenock, Aberdeen, Berwick, Alloa, etc, etc. It's all pot luck. Of course football's fuel is rivalry. And that's fine It's fun to set up a baddie and knock them down, but at the end of the day due to an accident of birth we could all be supporting a team we currently "hate".
  5. I think Hamilton does not too bad considering how few fans they have. Not saying this to wind up Accies fans, it's just true.
  6. It's looking more and more likely we'll have to dig out the 1957 cup winning bus for another trip round town when we win the league this year.
  7. Had to "watch" the game via BBC text updates on their website. Nerve racking. Very happy with result though. Yes I know I sound like a broken record, but this one thing is concerning me - We scored 2 goals from 21 shots, Kelty got 1 goal from 3 shots. You don't have to be a mathematician to see there is something not quite right there. That's not league winning form, yes, grinding out results is, but our poor conversion rate makes us very vulnerable as the season goes on with more games where we don't get so many chances. 20 games unbeaten now, so we are doing many things right, what a difference from recent seasons.
  8. Happend a few times this season just when a few on here complaining about Nesbitt he immediately goes and scores a goal. Yes sometimes when he is trying to control a ball it looks like he is performing a ballet move with bare feet on a very hot surface, but he has proved his worth over and over again.
  9. Having played well on the telly a few times this season, if someone comes in for Morrison in January and we can't keep him I can't see us winning the league without him, if at all. Need to hold on to him at all costs, at least until the Summer. Anyone else starting to think it's only a matter of time before it all falls apart, like it has so many times before. I keep telling myself this season is different, and it is, until now at least. Being a Bairn our hopes have been dashed more often than not, especially in recent seasons. Biting fingernails. COYB. Next couple of games will go far in deciding the season I think.
  10. Been keeping an eye on our goals scored from shots ratio all season, it's about 1 goal from every 7 or 8 shots. I've not compared all the other teams in our league, but even the teams we beat have a higher proportion of goals against us for the number of shots they have. Yes we are getting a shed load of chances but actual goals scored are not keeping up. This needs addressing as it will, if it is not already, come back and bite is in the bum. You can't win a league with chances.
  11. I know it's off topic but just announced Grangemouth Oil refinery is going to close. Never thought I'd see that. Jeez
  12. Same pattern as the rest of the season, Edinburgh have 3 chances and score from one of them. We have 11 chances and score from one of them. Don't get me wrong, not moaning too much. We just need to get our goals from chances ratio matching some other teams in the division and we'd be trouncing everyone. Only aspect of our play that needs a good look at after a much better season so far than the few years before.
  13. While doing some family research today I came across this from the Falkirk Herald 2 Sep 1933. Never knew there were greyhound races at Brockville.
  14. I agree. A great season so far with little criticism. What I am a tad concerned about is although we have by far the most shots and shots on goal in the league, we have a poor shots to goals ratio. That doesn't matter if things stay the same, but if teams figure out how to stiffle us a bit better we are going to have a lot more draws and a few defeats because of it at the season goes on.
  15. Feels like it. My brother usually takes me but he can't make it regularly.
  16. Thanks for that. Last time I took a bus to Falkirk the bus station was still open.
  17. Got my old folks bus pass recently and my first use will be trying to get to the game and back on Saturday from Edinburgh. Looks like First Bus is my only option. Is there anyone who has travelled by bus from Edinburgh to the stadium before who can give me advice. I don't get out very often so I am a bit nervous. Where is the best place to get off in Falkirk, etc. thanks
  18. I agree, took John a wee while to get his feet under the desk but is looking good now.
  19. Brilliant. 9 minutes extra time, jeez. Only thing that still is knawing at me though is this - Albion had two chances and scored 1 = a 50% success rate. We had 16 chances and scored 2 = 12.5% success rate. Yes that doesn't matter if we keep on making lots of chances, but if teams learn to cope with us and limit our shots, with that kind of conversion rate we would be f@cked. Anyway, great result in the end, Hamilton blinked first, let's hope we kick on from here.
  20. Forgive my naïvety, I don't claim to know much about this, but, there are a fair number of teams above us in the pyramid that have a noticeably smaller fan base and income that seem to operate more efficiently that we do, achieve a higher league status than we do and have better players than we do. How they do this I don't know, but it can't be a closely guarded secret as a good few teams seem to be able to do it. So, the question is, is there something fundamentally wrong with the way our club is run? Surely with an average crowd of 4000 a game we could at LEAST break even. I just don't get it.
  21. 12 games unbeaten, when's the last time that happened? Anyone know?
  22. Well, they cancelled each other out. I'm a big fan of Morrison, but tonight demonstrates why no bigger team has come in for him. Some days he is fantastic and wins us games, the next he is an onlooker, like tonight. Not moaning too much, if he was more consistent he would have been snapped up two or three seasons ago. One thing that struck me tonight is we have 4 or 5 players who are playing at the best of their ability but give me the feeling they could mess up big time any time they have the ball. After tonight and 25% of the season gone, looks like we have a 50/50 chance of promotion. Still top of the league, I would have been over the moon at that at the start of the season.
  23. Could have been 8 or 9. That'll do nicely against a team that wasn't that bad.
