Right Neilly, it's the one you've been waiting for.

GK - Darren Jamieson (Stenhousemuir) - With Brett Long's ankle in half, nobody else comes close. Good lad too is DJ, and the most transformative signing that any club has made arguably in Scotland this season. I was disappointed he wasn't up for divisional POTY at the PFA awards.

RB - Matty Grant (Stranraer) - He's more of a winger these days, but I've seen him play at full-back for Pollok (and wing-back) and I like him a lot. Aggressive, tricky, decent on the ball. I'd like to see him in a Sons shirt one day.

CB - Nicky Jamieson (Stenhousemuir) - Will deal with the step up to League One better than Buchanan. And the stats speak for themselves, Stenny basically don't lose when he plays (I mean they don't lose anyway, but they especially don't lose when he plays).

CB - Stuart Morrison (Forfar Athletic) - Forfar's only interesting player imo. Stupidly aggressive in the air, a goal threat, good on the ball. Him and Jamieson together would be sensational imo.

LB - Neil Martyniuk (Bonnyrigg Rose) - Not actually sure if he's that good, but his goal return has basically saved Bonnyrigg - even if 95% are penalties. Plus I couldn't think of any other Bonnyrigg player I'd want (Paddy Martin is good, but not Jamieson, and Josh Grigor is alright. But not Jamieson/Morrison).

CM - Mark Gallagher (Elgin City) - Impressed me massively at Borough Briggs back in January. Didn't actually know who he was until half-time, but you can see what bigger clubs have seen in him. Looked like he had an absolutely terrific engine above all else and had no issue bursting box-to-box.

CM - Rhys Armstrong (Spartans) - Another guy I knew very little about before this season, but I've been massively impressed. Only 22 too so I can see him going on to a higher level if he fancies it. I actually wanted Cammy Russell from Spartans, but he didn't fit my team under the one from every club rule. So Armstrong it is.

CM - Andy McCarthy (Peterhead) - Such a pain in the backside. I spoke about him on the Terrace a few weeks ago as being one of my least favourite opposition players to watch, but also someone I'd take at us in a heartbeat. Breaking up play, winning soft fouls and generally being a shithouse.

FW - Michael Ruth (Dumbarton) - I know he's only got 12 goals, but he's also not our penalty taker. So he's got 12 from open play, compared to Aitken and Henderson both of whom take penalties. I wouldn't swap him for any other striker in the division. He's the best forward we've had in years, his hold-up play is in a different league to basically every other striker in the division. His workrate, strength and general forward play is absolutely vital to our chances of going up. I just wish we'd find a way to play someone alongside him. He'd be even more effective if he wasn't winning high balls, running channels, holding play up and scoring goals all on his own.

FW - Jordan Allan (Clyde) - Pair Ruth with Jordan Allan and you'd have a title winning strikeforce. He's always been a thorn in our side, but he gave us the run around in the 2-0 defeat at NDP in February. A more natural goalscorer than Ruth, the two of them would be superb together. Seems to have a good knack of getting goals in important games/at important times too.

FW - Nathan Austin (East Fife) - I was shocked by how bad he looked in the first few games we played against EF this season. He looked absolutely finished. A guy going through the motions. Gradually though it's looked like the Nathan Austin of old has returned and East Fife are very lucky to have a player that good with such an affinity to the club.

I knew I could rely on this man. He knows his onions.

Where are the moderators?? This is a serious message board - surely we have some standards?? We have someone claiming they have a decent knowledge of the league AND they get one of the best players in the league playing for the wrong team.

A ban is maybe a little harsh but I would think a very stern warning is necessary here ……

I'll take my medicine. A temporary ban may be just what I need.

Now...does anyone have the knowledge to put a team out or are are you just all going to have a dig at yer auld da'?

  3. Yeah, we know we are the bollocks and would have the majority of our players in any starting X1 for team of the year (I'd have had at least two more than the five we had in the official TOTS) but to make things a bit interesting let's have a starting X1 with Darren Jamieson in goals and the ten outfield players made up from every club. You can have your own choice of goalkeeper but if anyone is really having an alternative to DJ then you're a clown basically.

I'll be playing a 4-4-2 formation. Auld skool.

    Jamieson (Ste)

Pigniatello (Dum)   Buchanan (Ste)  Morrison (For)  Martyniuk (Bon)

Russell (Spa)  McCarthy (Pet)  Forrest (Str) Healy (EF)

    Allan (Cly) Golding (Elg)

You will struggle to beat that lads. This is only for posters with decent knowledge of the league so will be too much for most but why not give it a bash?

That was a sore one. We are now relying on a game away at Elgin to cement our place in the Scottish pyramid. Thank you Duffy and Thomson ya bunch of imposters.

Probably getting ahead of yourself there. It's hardly inconceivable that Clyde lose and Stranraer win next week and the Elgin game will be an irrelevance.

I fancy Stranraer to win their last two games against two teams with nothing to play for.

Good luck to The Bully Wee.

Disappointed Mikey Anderson didn’t make it. Kinlay Bilham is the other player I hoped might feature.

There was a feature on the club last night on A View from the Terrace featuring Donald Smillie. It was a really nice piece.

Bilham and Anderson have been the best players in their position throughout the season I don't think even any opposition fans would debate that.

I suppose with it being a players vote both could go under the radar as they are consistently steady as opposed to MOTM every game.

I wouldn't be surprised to see both going full time in the next year or so if they can keep up what they have done this season.

  6. We will have some professional pride to play for and try and avenge the 6-1 next week but it's as  good a fixture as Clyde can hope for at this stage.

Jamieson and Wedderburn out for the season and we are off the boil in general.

Add in East Fife and Elgin to come and Clyde have essentially 3 games against teams who will be playing for nothing and on their holidays.

Not that I'd trust McCall much as he has no idea what his best team is surely they can muster enough against 3 teams which should be on holiday?

    The Bully Wee.

  7. It felt, and played out like, a training game. DJ will be raging as we were cantering to another clean sheet before losing a really sloppy goal at the end.

We dominated most of the play but just couldn't get the second goal. Euan should have killed the game really and I think he would have any other week if it really mattered but was too casual in the execution. He takes that first time and scores every other week.

Kyle Jacobs and Ross Taylor were our best players on the day - Taylor in particular was the best player on the park by a distance. Scored a thumping goal on his weak foot and caused a lot of bother all afternoon resulting, as usual when he's on it, a rake of fouls and cautions against him.

Jacobs might be worth another year. He's a handy player, really gives it everything and seems a good guy to have about the dressing room.

Bucky for me. I would go as far to say he will be the best signing in our history if we go on now and do the inevitable.

I can't remember a bad game he has had apart from that mad 20 minutes against Dumbarton. He's just such a good defender, reads the game well, can play a bit and is a huge threat from set plays. I think he's the glue that sticks it altogether. Nicky Jamieson was already a good player but for me he's went to another level playing next to Bucky. Even without Nicky in these last two games Bucky has stood up and been absolutely outstanding in both games with a slightly weaker defence.

So many quality, consistent performers though hence our league position so it's hard to single out any one person as our main strength is that togetherness and will to win as a group.

I stand by this and Bucky can now go down as the best signing in our history as well as my player of the year.

Our captain and leader of this brilliant group of lads.

I disagree! Let's try and get an elusive win with the best players available first and then have a kickabout down at Stranraer on the final day of the season.

I'm not sure what is elusive about the win when the league is wrapped up. We have won more games than anyone else in the league - hence we won it.

We also have to be looking forward to next season. Why risk our better players getting an injury in dead rubber games?

These Highland hammer throwers will be chasing shadows. If Mikey Anderson gets clattered and misses the start of next season I'll be holding you solely responsible.

  10. I'd be giving all the boys who were benched on Saturday, and haven't had much game time recently, starts on Saturday. Keeps the full squad feeling involved and the job is already done - I also expect we will beat an Elgin side on their travels without Golding anyway.

We maybe want to go full strength again on trophy day but certainly for the next two games I'd be sharing the game time.

    Lyle

    Lynch Buchanan Stirling Bilham

    Jacobs Berry

    Taylor Brown Kirky

    Rodden

    Something along those lines.

Your dad wasn't the only old man with a tear in his eye yesterday. I've been following the Warriors for over 50 years. As a young teenager I would travel up from Yorkshire with my mum and dad as often as we could and we were always made so welcome and treated with immense kindness by everyone. Donald Smillie is the last of the people who we met on our first visits who is still around. The celebrations at full time were fantastic but the one thing that brought tears to my eyes was having a few words with Donald and him speaking warmly of my late mum and dad. I still live down south and although a season ticket holder I only mange to get to a handful of games each season. So, for people like Donald and others who have regularly watched the Warriors through thick and (lots of) thin, I'm just so pleased for you all. Long may Stenhousemuir FC continue to be a fantastic club.

Donald got a round of applause when he came in to the wee bar after the game which was lovely.

The best guy, universally loved at the football club I'm so glad he got this day.

I genuinely think your perspective's been warped by so many years of season-on-season improvement. As Neilly says, I think you're confusing the stars aligning for a limited amount of time with something else.  Maybe Arbroath really have taken a step change up in the size of club they are. The real test will be when Dick Campbell goes, the core of the side that's propelled you through the leagues breaks up and you have a tough couple of seasons where you move back the way, rather than continually moving forward.

What Arbroath have achieved on and off the park over the past few years is absolutely enviable. Everyone outside the bubble has just seen it happen too many times before.

Our Gordon and his crystal ball.

I think Stenhousemuir are a very well run club and probably in and around the position I’d expect them to be with potentially having an Edinburgh City like season and moving into L1 which would be your ceiling?

Look forward to meeting you at our ceiling again next season comrade.

Absolutely shocked to my core Arbroath will be back at their natural level next season, no one could have seen that coming.

It will be a privilege to be in the same league with such a big club who have all those season ticket holders and a scattering of teenagers wearing Arbroath clobber roond the toon centre.

    Smokies and wine baby.
