  1. No pressure on the Mo for this one. The threat of relegation has been quashed and a play off place was beyond our wildest dreams this year. No matter where we finish in the league, it has been an amazing season for us. A crack at the play offs would be an added bonus.
  2. Having seen and played all the teams in the squeaky bum battle, Brechin are by far the worst. I fully expect them to be in the relegation spot at the end of the season. Stenny at Brechin on the last day will be a huge game.
  3. The first one seems to be the hot favourite but it's not for me. I would have it last. I like the bottom left one. Very similar to the current strip which I like.
  4. It's not over yet but to think that three of the four Angus clubs would be in the position that they are in now would have been unthinkable. Well done Arbroath on strolling the league. They have been the best team I've seen this season and thoroughly deserve their title. Well done Forfar. They've also had a great season and fully deserve their place in the play offs. As for the Mighty Mo. our aim at the start of the season was to finish 8th. To be in the play off position with three games to go was way beyond our wildest dreams. Whats going on at Links Park just now is unbelievable. On and off the pitch, our club is a credit to the town. Brechin - After last season it was always going to be a hard task to motivate and kick on. I really hope Brechin survive the drop, A) for an easy away game and B) for 12 easy points. Good luck Brechin.
  5. Through gritted teeth, I say congratulations to the smoked haddocks. they have been the best team I've seen this season and deserve their day in the sun.
  6. He will be in one of the dugouts at EEP next season. The away one. SP, Mo legend !
  7. It's great to see SP getting the praise he deserves. When he took over at Montrose in December 2016 we were rock bottom of league 2. By May 2017 we were in the play offs for promotion losing out to Peterhead. Last season we obviously won the league and now here we are in touching distance of the play offs again. It's been an incredible journey since he took over and the supporters are loving it, every step of the way. If SP is lured away from Links Park he will go with everyones best wishes and gratitude but we hope that's a long way in the future. The journey isn't over yet
  8. Haven't given up hope but a couple of points. Firstly, our main objective at the start of the season was to finish 8th or higher. To be in with a shout of the play offs at this stage of the season has outshone everyones expectations. Barring an incredible series of results, job done. Secondly, our team isn't ready for promotion. If we were to go up, I would fear a "Brechin " and after last seasons debacle look where they are now. If we were to make the play offs, I would celebrate along with the rest and dare I say it, promotion....... now I'm getting beyond myself.
  9. Like the friend that nobody wants. We enter the room and everyone else disappears.
  10. No often folk are buzzing for a trip to Brechin but in the circumstances I can understand it. I bet the publicans in Brechin are buzzing too.
  11. He was celebrating as if the league was won without realising that Raith has pissed in his champers. However, I'm sure the case of Dom Pom will be cracked next week.
  12. Almost as funny as Dick parading around his technical area embracing everyone around him as the news filtered through about the goal at Stenny.
  13. Despite our meek performance today, we can not be automatically relegated.
  14. We never turned up today. Beat Brechin with style on Tuesday but couldn't string two passes together today. Different opposition of course. The referee gave us nothing today. We got 2 early bookings but despite some wild challenges from Arbroath players he kept his cards in his pocket. As for cheering the Raith goal, it was just a GIRUY moment. Dick was walking around his dugout embracing everyone just as the news of the goal came through. Just glad we didn't have to watch any celebrations. I didn't think Arbroath were great but they didn't have to be. We were poor and Arbroath deserved the win. Enjoy the title celebrations next week.
  15. If last nights performance is anything to go by, I can't see Brechin picking up any more points. They looked like a team who are doomed. No leadership, no passion, no fight. Having played the other teams in the mix up recently, they all look better than Brechin. I really hope Brechin stay up for an easy away day and 12 easy points but , sorry lads, just can't see it
  16. We are delighted to be in the position we are in. At the start of the season, our target was eighth position. We have exceeded all expectations to be within a shout of the play offs ( at the right end of the table ) but in all honesty, the team isn't ready for another step up. It took us a few weeks to find our feet in this league but once we did, we certainly didn't look out of place. We have been on a remarkable journey since SP took over. The journey isn't over but one step at a time.
  17. Just echoing what everyone else has said. Great performance tonight. Everyone put in a shift. As for Brechin, I really fear for them. That's four wins we've had over them this season but tonights performance was pretty dire. No passion, no leadership and no threat at all. I really hope Brechin stay up just for an easy away trip (and 12 easy points) but play like that and I don't hold much hope for them.
  18. Two League Cup ties spring to mind, both in the late 70s. Montrose 3 Hibs 2. Hibs won the first leg 1-0 then scored in the first minute of the second leg to lead 2-0. Montrose scored twice to win 2-1 and take it to extra time. It was a foul night of wind and rain which had a hand in the winner. Hibs were attacking when Mo full back Les Barr booted the ball from well inside his own half. The ball sailed off in the wind. Hibs goalkeeper Jim McArthur went out to collect the ball, slipped on his arse and the ball bounced over his head and into the net. Montrose 5 Raith rovers 4 Again two legs. Rovers played Mo off the park and won the first leg 3-0 then scored first in the second leg to lead 4-0. Montrose rallied to win 5-1 on the night so 5-4 on aggregate.
  19. That's him. Really looked the part today.
  20. Pretty comfortable today, especially first half. Stranraer showed a wee bit more in the second half but the third goal really killed it off although they pegged us back a bit after scoring. Credit to Ross Campbell who takes a lot of stick but he was in the thick of everything today. Also a mention for Stranraer big No. 18 who was a real handful for the Mo defence. Good in the air and really quick for a big lad
  21. He'll find his feet and come good next season, I'm sure . . . in League 2 !!!
  22. Better start a thread just to show that there is some interest in this one. Huge game for both clubs. A win for Montrose would see us above the magical 40 point mark and almost, surely see us safe for League 1 next season. A win for Stranraer would pull them right back into the mix and leave us in an erse clenching position. My prediction, a very tense 1-0 home victory where aforementioned erses will be collectively clenched.
