  1. A lot of suggestion on-line he may have had a Gary Lineker / Paula Radcliffe moment
  2. Bought a car from Arnold Clark a couple of weeks ago. Drove it from the dealership to Hampden for Scotland v England game and it broke down on the way (half hour after getting it) there. Managed to get to Hampden, but broke down again on the way home and had to abandon the car on the outskirts of Glasgow overnight - I couldn't believe it! They rescued the car the next day and got it repaired within 48 hours. Its been fine since then, but breaking down half hour after driving away must be some kind of record
  3. I agree. Made that shot choice even more bizarre
  4. If Fitzpatrick gets the half, the US team will have every right to have a go at Home. Unbelievable what he done at 16
  5. A strange game in some ways today. Queens started really well and for that first twenty minutes gave us something of a chasing, whilst playing a brand of football that was very easy on the eye. If after twenty minutes you'd told me Utd would go on to win 4-1, with a deserving margin of victory I'd have found it hard to believe. Argument for saying that Glass' pass at the first goal was the point that the game changed. Was a bit disappointing to see so many Utd fans leave before the final whistle (but can understand why folk do)
  6. Was rather hoping ticket prices would be reduced for this in an effort to get a decent crowd. A blanket £10 for anyone u18 regardless of how young is off-putting, (my spend would therefore be £30 + fuel + no doubt a pie each) so I'll be giving it a miss.
  7. Bought tickets for the home end - have spent money on planes and trains and hotels, so may as well go the whole hog. Anyone else that's done that - do the tickets get emailed to you instantly? I've got a receipt and emails to say I've bought tickets (and the money's out my bank), but no actual tickets. I'm concerned I may have selected them to get posted (I put my address down as the hotel)
  8. Will most probably head along to the game v Huntly on Saturday. What will the ticket prices be?
  9. Firstly I have issues referring to any player from last season as "great". I may be in the minority but I never got the 'love in' from a lot of Utd fans towards Fletcher. Sure he tried and put himself about, but I'd expect that from any player. Granted the money at Wrexham will probably be decent, but plying his trade in EFL League 2, after failing to even get a club for a couple of months despite being a free agent is kinda telling.
  10. I imagine it probably was their tactic. We have a budget significantly bigger than Morton's, and although I'm not suggesting Morton are a bunch of cloggers, they have to find a way to make it more of an even keel. No issues with that from me. But a stronger ref would have stepped in and shown a yellow or two. As I've said elsewhere, he lost control at one stage - who was he might I ask (when Utd sold match programmes I would know who the ref was every game)
  11. Granted it's difficult to compare given one is playing in the Championship and one played for us in the Premier, but I think he's an upgrade on Fletcher. A more rounded player I think
  12. My words of wisdom following today's game. Referee had a shocker and at one point lost all control of the game. Clear penalty on Gallagher at the corner A lot of Utd fans who sit around me are morons that you'd think had never seen a game. A point with ten men is far from disastrous. Can't claim to have saw the red card incident, and although I thought Cudjoe was fouled, and for the umpteenth time the ref took no action, I presume he reacted in some way that gave the linesman (and therefore ref) a decision to make. He's forgiven as he's young and still learning.
  13. I'm on the same flight as them. Runway open now, but the incoming flight was diverted to Glasgow. Plane still needs to get from Glasgow to Edinburgh, then to Belfast and obviously onwards to Coleraine
  14. Aye, but he shouldn't be reading that so it's fine
  15. Will definitely head to one of these ties. Will be quite the conundrum deciding which though
  16. As I've said in my own post, I think United (and Goodwin) got it right. The idea is that you 'take the bait' and press them and then ultimately get caught on the sucker punch (it happened once when Glass got excited and got sucked in and Airdrie got a chance from it). By refusing to get drawn in, I thought we dealt with it perfectly. Granted it didn't make for much excitement, but from a tactical point of view, I thought it was fascinating. (Maybe just me!)
  17. Given they've just come up from the league below, I thought Airdrie were very decent and credit to McCabe for forming a team who play like that. It became a game of cat and mouse. Or chess even. And it very nearly worked. I thought the way United dealt with it, although to much of the fans' frustrations, was spot on. Glass got sucked in once, and sure enough Airdrie got the break and created a chance. But by just standing off and waiting on Airdrie making their move, it became a bizarre, but justifiable, spectacle. Personally I really enjoyed it. Tactics were certainly to the forefront today. As above, credit to Rhys McCabe. Clearly a man with a big future in the management game.
  18. Thankfully Ross Docherty has obviously never read your stuff here then
  19. It's a perfectly valid swipe at the fairly significant amount of United fans who take a perverse amount of pleasure in seeing the team and some individuals struggle, as they can take to the stands to hound players*, and to social media to vent their stuff, hoping that in a few months time they can say, "see I told you so". I highly doubt this is unique to Dundee United, but football fans, probably due to the advent of social media**, seem to have evolved into a very intolerant bunch with bizarrely unrealistic expectations. *in the case of Freeman, I think he's decent but the vitriol directed to him from the stands has visibly affected his confidence. ** noticed all those mad United twitter accounts were very subdued after the win Vs Ayr, but couldn't wait to take to their keyboards after / during the Dunfermline match
  20. When Kane signed for Bayern there was a lot of noise from little Englanders who said he was moving to a weaker league, where only one team ever wins the title. After Dortmund's start, coming round to thinking they may have a point.
  21. Hahaha!!!! Clydebank done some serious back tracking there. Good to see common sense applied, but should never have reached that point.
  22. That would mean Clydebank wouldn't be in either
