  1. Dropping Moult and playing Watt as the main striker (with Mochrie in behind) must be a strong shout for the Arbroath game. My opinion on Watt is probably not too far removed from a lot of United fans, but in fairness Watt's goal return, when played as the main striker, is very decent. He looked chuffed to bits clutching the match ball at the end
  2. I was told quite recently that Morgan is living quite the lifestyle over there. Can't imagine he'd be giving that up any time soon
  3. As a Dundee United fan, I confess to something of a vested interest in my thoughts about him. Utd desperately need (affordable) attacking players in the door in January, and on yesterday's evidence he'd more than fit the bill and it's only one division higher. Doubt the fans would wear it right enough as sizeable chunk of them still think we have oodles of cash up our sleeves to spend, and noses get turned up at signing players from lower leagues (despite having a fair degree of success in that market over the years). Footnote; was impressed with Cove yesterday (and Edinburgh at times) and it made for a really decent spectacle.
  4. Went to this game as a neutral. Was very impressed with Burrell. Must confess I had no idea who he was, so looked him up on Wikipedia. His footballing CV took me by surprise a bit (30 games for Falkirk last season). On the evidence of yesterday, together with the number of goals he's scored this season, I was thinking he could play at a higher level. Maybe yesterday was a 'flash in the pan' though?
  5. Obviously after tonight this has become even more stark. Interested to know how it shapes up in terms of goals with Docherty in the team vs without
  6. Agree with everything here. A bit like last week, we all knew what subs would come on, and who they'd come on for. Competition for places is non existent.
  7. I say the same thing every week about him - if Freeman had done that, the place would be in uproar. For a while I've thought I can't split the difference between the pair, but I'm coming round to thinking Freeman might be least bad.
  8. @Fife Arab Hope you don't mind me tagging you, but you seem to have some good inside info - I read elsewhere Docherty out (again) tomorrow night. Is that right? If so, beginning to look like we've signed a crock, albeit a more than capable crock. (And apparently wasn't a crock until he set foot in Tannadice). Rotten luck for both player and us if these injuries continue
  9. Would make for an exciting end to the season should both sides take it all the way (although I'm still not ruling Thistle out). United's performance level needs to somehow get back to what it was Aug-Oct. Raith are good side, but they'll (as everyone in the division will) drop points so will be interesting to see how United/Thistle react.
  10. Not read all the comments, but surprised to not see any mentions of Middleton's miss with the last touch of the game. Looked an absolute shocker from where I was sat Couple of other comments; Not sure why Goodwin abandoned our usual 'pass it out from the back' in favour of a long, high ball to Moult that was very reminiscent the same long, high balls we played to Fletcher last season, with the same end result as last season (no goals). Corner kicks were bizarre. Can only assume Goodwin had instructed Middleton and Mochrie to put them in low to the front post. Not a good day for United, but still didn't think there was a great deal between the sides. Utd need new blood (a striker and a right back) come the Arbroath game on Jan 2nd
  11. Think they're backing Utd home games up for later in the season. They have to show each team at home 'X' amount times I seem to recall? The next United v Raith game at Tannadice is due the same weekend as Scotland away to Netherlands. That game is on the Friday night - Would suspect the BBC will look to have the Tannadice game live, but wonder if they'll pitch it up against the national team or not?
  12. With not much else to do, took this game in as a neutral. Not sure if Accies were good or QoS were really bad. Probably both. Zanatta and Martin were excellent for Accies. McClelland particularly poor for Queens. Last week's result for my own team (Dundee United) now looks really bad and a bit of a concern.
  13. A steward came to help, but he was powerless to really. Initially suggested I came out the turnstile but I said there was no way I letting my son out my eyesight. He then said he'd speak to his supervisor, but five minutes went past so by that point I said sod it and squeezed in beside the other guy.
  14. Last night was one of the few occasions in life when being a fairly wee chap worked out well. It was still a very tight squeeze with the other guy, but panic was beginning to set in and I was happy to give anything a go
  15. Unlikely I know, but in the off chance that they post here, a wee word of thanks to the two guys who looked after and comforted my son at the South Stand turnstiles when, owing to a hiccup with the turnstile, he found himself having gone through the turnstile and I was stuck on the other side and unable to get in (eventually after a poor show from the stewards I just squeezed in beside someone else). Was a pretty anxious few minutes for him (and me) but these two guys were brilliant and said they wouldn't leave him until I was through
  16. On what was clearly a poor night for every player in tangerine, so I'm by no means singling him out, but if Freeman had put in the same performance as Grimshaw did, this place (and others) would have went into meltdown.
  17. Feels a bit like you've been waiting to write that for quite some time. Hope it felt good
  18. Fotheringham called up for Scotland u21 duty. Won't be available v Falkirk in the Challenge Cup, which will probably open things up for Cudjoe
  19. Will be interesting to see how Levein gets on St. Johnstone. The reaction from their fans seems to be (largely) the complete opposite to what our's were when he knocked us back. I even seem to recall a poster or two guaranteeing us success had we appointed him
  20. Spoke to a few Thistle fans on the train coming back from Arbroath yesterday. Whilst of the two, I've been most impressed with Docherty, Holt is their one their fans talk the most highly of.
  21. This would be a concern, but would still think we should have enough about us to get the three points. Docherty has been excellent - can't fail to be anything other than impressed (although does seem a bit injury prone). Presumably he's not always been as good as this as his career would have taken a rather different trajectory to the one it's been on.
  22. Brilliant performance last night. Obviously we've dropped down a division and that should be remembered, but we look a really good side. The brand of football we play (for the first time in several years) is pleasing on the eye. Credit to Goodwin is due. There was some grumblings of discontent early in the season, but it's all coming together now - Spartans / Partick Thistle cup matches seem a distant memory.
  23. Not much help I know, but I could have sworn I saw "on-line tickets available until kick-off" earlier today. Not sure if we've sold the stand out, or they've changed the goalposts from this morning
