  1. Has Reserves lost even more players after Agnew, Baxter and Mccolm? No Whorlow, Dunn, Phillips, Callum scott there last night just all young 16/17 year olds plus a few from last season

Agnew and McColm away to Kilwinning, Baxter and Robbie Murray away to Irvine Vics. Reserves played Dailly Tuesday and all of them played and play Cumnock Juniors Saturday so imagine just resting them and playing young boys v Wigtown
  2. Took in Newton Vs Stranraer Reserves today, by God reserves are missing their star men from last season. Barely any creativity going forward at all despite picking up the win. Newton in the first half looked decent, Marc Whyte in the middle of the park was very good as was Euan Drysdale in goals. Second half not so great after making a lot of changes at the break

I think any team would miss 3 players who scored 80 odd goals between them but all 3 deserve to play in a better league. Chance for some new talent to step up for them.
  3. Expect this season will be closer than last. Expect Threave, Bonnyton to be up the top end of the table while Lochar look like they’ve made some good signings.

Although Stranraer have lost 3 players to the first team still expect them to be very competitive, if rumours on other threads are true signing an out and out striker in Robert Middleton and experience in Jenkins and Lowe will help.

I think Vale could kick on if they keep a hold of Goss up front, although there was rumours earlier in post season that he was off to Annan first team

  4. Okay so can either you or Reserves clarify how Stranraer can have a player (Allegedly) registered as a player for League but not for all Cup competitions?
It would be good if you can enlighten us all so that we too can use “The Stranraer Reserves 2018/19 Scenario” for future reference
Every day certainly is a learning day!!!

I have no affiliation with Stranraer so unfortunately I cannot however from my understanding, you have to be registered to play in the league and then the cup games which is done by the clubs. I’ve no idea how many forms boys sign when they’re signing at the start of the season and don’t know whether you have to sign 2 forms when signing for a club, however if that is the case it seems absurd.

As previously commented, the whole thing is a shambles and I don’t think anyone knows what the hells gone on.
  5. TBH ... doesn’t matter who is to blame, if the plays is Unregistered then he is Unregistered
If it is the case in the League as in the Cup Ties then the rules should be applied no matter what the circumstances are, that my friend is one if the reasons you have a Constitution for
Should  we also give Padraig Harrington back the title he lost when he never signed his (Human Error) scorecard?
Will be interesting to see what happens once ALL the facts have been revealed

Not disagreeing with this at all my friend, the SSFL say the players unregistered then he’s unregistered. All I’m trying to say is there’s nothing been mentioned to say that he wasn’t registered for league games, hence (I imagine) why no action has been taken. I think if there was to be any punishment in terms of the league it would have been dished out at the same time as the punishment in the cup, the common sense thing to do.

Mind you there’s not a lot of common sense about this league some times
  6. Yes they did last season ....  played 2 x Young Yin’s after the Cup Deadline, 31st March, Bonnytons’s mistake & we’re punished according
I am however hearing that this player has played about 34 games this season so far and all are showing on “The System” as a Trialist, but not on teamsheets!!!
Obviously a huge admin  error has occurred but will be interesting to see what the hierarchy action will be, surely they won’t try to sweep this under the carpet and hope it goes away, will they?
They will set a helluva precedent if they do IMO

I can’t see there being another decision after Stranraer have already been banned from the cups and I agree with you Billy that’s it’s obviously a huge admin error somewhere along the line and I doubt the young lad feels great about it (although it’s in no way his fault).

  7. I’m sure the boy has made around 30 appearances in all comps.
Didnt Bonnyton get deducted 3 points for playing unsigned under 20 players against Lochar last season? Surely if this boy has played after the deadline, the same rules should apply.
Shame on Stranraer players as they have been the best team and deserved to win more trophies. Teams  have been punished in the past for this mistake which unfortunately means Stranraer should be the same. They only seem to be getting punished for the cups.

The player is quite clearly signed as if you go on the league website and look at the team sheets for the season as he never appears as a trial isn’t. To say that the league title should be taken from them is absurd, if the league we’re going to take the league off them they would have done it when they withdrew them from the cups.

There’s either been a mix up either on Stranraer’s end or the league’s end and I don’t think anyone will know until all details are found out or released (which they won’t be). From the (limited) information we all have there seems to be a lot of people jumping to conclusions.

Stranraer can only be punished in the cups if they’ve only committed rule breaches on the cups.
  8. Yeah he is a great player and is probably top 3 nomination but Dean Agnew of Stranraer does everything.. scores, sets up goals and works back and never stops. Can’t not go to anyone but a Stranraer player with the season they’re having and probably the best season ever recorded in league?

I think amongst all the debate over who’s been the best player, it’s nice to see so many good players in the league. I’ve thought the last few years you could probably have picked the team of the season no bother but there’s a lot of debate as to who will be in the team, especially up front where there’s been a lot of good players.
  9. It’s such a hard choice to pick in the attacking area... I think Jonny Baxter and dean agnew have to be in, 30 plus goals and counting and on track for undefeated season is only way to separate that side... then it’s a battle for final position on whoever gets most goals out of the rest between Kerr, goss, and Mckenzie etc

Have to agree with this, for 2 boys in the same team to be on 30 + goals and that team to be unbeaten you have to have them in the team of the year. Dean Agnew comfortably best player in the league this year by some way, should get player of the year too.
  10. Looking for following attendance / headcount if anyone can help?

    1/4/19 CREE LODGE CUP
    Stranraer v Upper Annandale
    3/4/19 LEAGUE
    Annan Ath v Bonnyton
    Heston v Upper Annandale
    3/4/19 J HAIG GORDON CUP
    Stranraer v Mid Annandale

Stranraer v Uppers league game about 30. Believe the cup game was 65/70
  11. Lochar goalie
rb (not sure haven’t seen a stand out) ... CB’s  Scott Phillips Mark Whorlow of Stranraer both excellent when seen them play and work well together which reflects on their goals conceded... LB (not sure, but again impressed with Stranraer young lad
midfield 3... jack McMurdo (Threave), Alistair Mccolm (Stranraer), and Gilroy (Bonnyton)
attcking 3... Dean Agnew (Stranraer, Anderson (Lochar),  Stevenson (Bonnyton)
    Player of season: Dean Agnew
From a non biased point of view and from games and teams I’ve watched. That would be my team of season and the players that have impressed me the most

Good team but I’d have Johnny Baxter in there, tough to take someone out however

  12. I think Heston Stranraer games were all pretty close, league and cup??? Wee bit o belief from a manager in younger players and developing a team. Well done Stranraer

Stranraer won 2 games in the league last year and have done the same this season. Heston best them in a cup game late on in the season I’m sure.

Pretty sure an earlier thread said Stranraer have only brought in 2 new bodies, Agnew up top and a centre half from Creetown. If so that’s some turnaround for a team that’s only playing it’s second season together and in the Sough league.
