Just thought I'd add to this thread to say Andy Murray is an absolute gent. I'm currently in Rome with my girlfriend and noticed on yon twitter that Andy Murray had recommended a restaurant. Seeing as it isn't far from where we are staying we decided to go. Half way through the meal Andy Murray walked in, and the missus shouts to him as he walks past ohh what a coincidence etc etc we are only here cos u recommended it blah blah. I'm mortified at this point saying let the boy have his tea in peace etc. but, give him his dues, he stood and had a wee chat with us about his game tomorrow etc. Anyway, this is the shite part of the story so I'll get to the point.... About ten minutes later he wanders back over to our table (interrupting ma fuckin' dinner!) and offers us tickets for the match tomorrow. Some guy. Hope to see him leather Nalbandian now!

I know for a fact that staff piping designers in my work are on that much, either 4 or 5 years after joining the company. It's about £15 an hour that they're on so money is prob propped up by offshore surveys etc. The point stands - it's bloody excellent pay for what is essentially drawing pictures!

Fwiw, I emplore any school leavers with a couple of highers in maths and a science, who aren't complete muppets but don't want to go to university, to do trainee designer programmes with one of the engineering companies. I think you need an HNC in engineering and are taken on at 18/19 on decent money primarily doing CAD. By the time you're 22 the pay is about £37k, which is more than the graduates start on. Piss easy job as well, by the looks of it.

See reading this, I've realised I completely missed out on the whole student experience. I lived at home, which was part of the problem, and met a long term girlfriend in 1st year, plus I took studying pretty damn seriously. I only really went on the odd night out with my uni mates and spent most weekends going out with my mates from home. What a load of pish now I think of it. I remember Freshers week as well, pulling a few birds and thinking that this uni malarky was going to be class. Ach well...

Good day today... Had £35 on Wolves at 1/2 - Then put £10 on Forest at 6/5 - Also did my wee 15 doubles on 6 games to be a draw again this week and I'm at least doubling my money each time. Games were: Villa / Man Utd (goody) Stenny / Shire (goody) Raith / Brechin (goody) Wolves / Blackpool (baddy - but this was just a "saver" on my single) Ayr / East Fife (baddy) Dunfermline / Morton (baddy.... but GOODY really!) 15 x £1 double = £15 staked, £36 returned. I'm away out to see how pished I can get on £28.50!
