  1. Biggest load of pish out tbh apart from how good EKYM are
  2. Congratulations to EKYM on winning the league with 15 wins out of 15 it was never in doubt, congratulations to St Mungos on gaining promotion probably a fair placing if im honest. For the rest of us its the league cup and to try and finish as high as we can then prepare for next years assault.
  3. Although I don't manage in Ayrshire I take a keen interest in the leagues a good few of my old boys club players ply their trade there. It frustrates me that some players cant see by Hurlford/Shortlees etc and think your not good enough if you don't play for those 2. I have been surprised a Kilbride Thistle I seriously thought they would challenge but I see they are now picking up. We played in the Kilwinning tournament against 3 premier league teams and they were all close games, we played Dirrans in the Scottish and put them out 2-0 but like other teams weve had low points this year with a couple of sore defeats but also competed against teams people had us written off against, Ayrshire is no different its the old adage 11 v 11 if you can't match the opposition with ability then beat them in effort it will even out. As you know I watch New Farm or Stewarton if our game is off. I have said it for months New Farm wont be caught and IMO they will be a top 4 premier league team IF they keep hold of Farrel/Baxter management team. Stewarton were going great being back in the top league but I fear Gary Hamilton leaving could start a slide which im gutted about as I stay there and have for 24 year and some of the players played for me. Our game may be off tomorrow so I hope to go see a good Ayrshire game. I hope Onthank persevere.
  4. On the first point I think most teams would rather have points on the board but Shortlees are a quality team so every chance they will come smashing through the park. I still think New Farm are uncatchable although its mathematically possible I just don't see anyone putting on a run to challenge them. Beith seem to be improving as do Whitletts so interesting Onthank have had a lot of upheaval you just want to see them stabilising tbh. It would be great if Meadow pulled it off but unfortunately I just don't see it and I think there could be 2 or 3 in it, same team took 5 off Stewarton but credit too them for getting this far,
  5. Sorry to see you go big man I try and watch the boys when I can if our game is off the job you have done should be admired
  6. I think my prediction of New Farm cantering that league is coming true. 19pts not lost a game in league? Farell and Baxter great combination and a club with a huge committee. Crosshouse will come good but I think it will be a battle for 2nd tbh.
  7. in response to the 2 bams m8
  8. Guys a rocket m8 wouldn't bother with him
  9. Terrible game for us first 30mins couldn't see anyone on top we lost a goal then imploded. Eaglesham thoroughly deserved there win no complaints there.
  10. Hopefully we get some games on tomorrow our game v Eaglesham been postponed twice already
  11. Aye m8 Crookedholm although I stay in Stewarton now. Its the togetherness that is their strong point with quality players. Meadow will probably climb the league m8 how high im not sure. Galston took some doing right enough been on a great run so maybe just a blip, Hurlford are definetly capable of turning anyone over. Crosshouse seem to be slipping a little I had them as one of the favourites to go up. A lot of my ex youth players play for some of the teams so I like to keep an eye on them if my game is off.
  12. We just keep trying to improve bud and hopefully we will get there its a great club we would all like to see it back in the top league again. Cheers.
  13. That's why I was disagreeing with the comment about 1a being stronger. This season we have beat Dunblane and Westerlands and been beaten by Westerlands too. We still have Mungos to play twice but trust me our lose defeat to them in the cup format before the league started was down to us losing the plot and 2 sending offs. I personally think the 2 leagues are evenly matched TBH.
  14. Not seen too much of new farm This season compared to other seasons mate but what I know of them I wouldn't count them as even finishing In the top three just yet. I fully believe they deserve to be where they are at the moment but they have this ability of shooting themselves in the foot when they look home and dry. The first is a very competitive league and I still think 4 maybe 5 teams have a realistic chance of going up. I do agree tho that they 4/5 teams wouldn't look too out of place in the prem. But most certainly bottom half I think. I hear where your coming from m8. I watch New Farm if our game is off watched them today as they dominated 3rd place West Kilbride and I'm sorry but I still cant see anyone catching them. A very convincing 4-2 victory today. Well drilled and play as a unit. I know some teams have games in hand but NF have points in the bag.
  15. Cant see anybody catching New Farm tbh watched them against Dirrans in a friendly on Saturday although it was a draw NFL were the much better side rolling subs took the shine off the game. Top 3 or 4 in first easily on a par with bottom half of the Premier, if not better.
  16. I disagree with you m8 EKYM are running away with it because at this moment they are stronger than anyone in BOTH divisions there's no way 1a is stronger than 1b IMO I believe there of a par with each other
  17. Not been on here for a while as I had a little spell of ill health. The team are starting to gel after some more radical changes in the playing squad and sit 6pts off 2nd with a game in hand. For some teams that's nothing to brag about but for those that have known about our fall from grace im sure they will appreciate why we are delighted. EKYM are leading the league having won every game convincingly up until couple weeks ago where the goal rush seems to have stalled. Great team and cant see anybody catch them. We have only lost once in the last 6 games so we are definitely improving. We face Eaglesham in the WM Turner cup this Saturday. Eaglesham are sitting second in 1(a) so its going to be difficult but we keep going. Big shout out to all the managers and committee members that are still going as we know how tough it is.
  18. Having run teams in two different leagues and run Youth teams I believe the following to be the reason for Amateur slump only in my opinion; 1. The Junior level has dropped considerably through the leagues allowing young players the opportunity to play and call themselves Juniors as a one up on their mates but in reality 10 year ago they would never have been considered for Junior football without a healthy amateur career behind them. 2. No dual signing allowed at Amateur level but allowed in Junior level. Most 19's and 21s leagues are played on a Sunday I say let amateur teams sign a maximum of 4 dual contracted youth players to bring them on and keep the amateur game fresh. I took over Viewfield Rovers this season. A club 2 years shy of its centenary. Past Scottish Cup winners and twice runners up, own pitch with clubhouse etc etc a great set up. The club were on the slide and 2 years ago played a season conceding god knows how many goals and collecting zero points but the Chairman could not see it go down the tubes so he rallied the club. Last season was slightly better though chaotic at times and this season has shown another improvement currently sitting 3rd in 1(b). Our average age is 21 having brought some players from my old youth team and encouraged others from the surrounding areas to join us. We are nowhere near where we want to be but we are on the right path with other teams taking us seriously again. We still have our setbacks but we band together and go again. Far too many teams and committees give up when the going gets tough or they don't win anything its a marathon not a sprint. What im saying is that we could all go on about league restructure and the crème da la crème playing in one league etc but for me that doesn't improve the amateur game. As a club we have started our youth section with teams at 5 youth levels now, The 16's train with us most weeks and since then have picked up a good wins in their own league but most importantly we are building a base for the next set of players to come to the amateur team. In 5 years my average age might creep up to 24/25 but ill have players that have trained with us constantly and current players with another 4/5 years ammie experience its then you judge your work.
  19. Gary if you need a letter to corroborate this its no problem my daughters team couldn't train because the council shut the centre
  20. Been a start of ups and downs so far but today 2 nil victory over ayrshire premier league outfit Dirrans adds confidence to loads of boys.
  21. The club would like to welcome Steven 'Esty' McKinnon to the squad. Steven is an ex Muirkirk Juniors striker that will add a lot of pace and energy to the attacking line.
  22. I think Kilbride will.be a surprise package this year with cumnock and galston to be relegated. 1st. Waverly Catrine or New Farm
