  1. https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/how-russia-keeps-its-fleet-western-jets-air-2023-08-23/ Planes out of storage, cannibalising other planes and getting parts from much longer supply chains via countries not abiding by the sanctions? Though there surely must be some stuff or larger things that they can't get so maybe they are extending parts past their usage life as well.
  2. Well it seems VAR has been efficient in that case and cleared the referee's decision as not being a clear and obvious error.
  3. Yes, though it was the first time they were in division with a more level playing field. But a third of their points came against the bottom three who have since been replaced by better teams this season. Their next games are against the teams directly above them which should be easier than playing Bo'ness Athletic twice...
  4. What, you don't think the fact that people watching TV and in the stadiums on their phones being able to see incorrect decisions had anything to do with it? The disallowed Liverpool goal v Tottenham was what would've happened 5 years ago without VAR, where it would've been clear to people in the crowd and on the benches that it should've stood very soon after the offside was called.
  5. Back for a new season update - West U21s down to 13 clubs, with 6 WOSFL and an SPFL club. The U19s league is still on the website but no fixtures, results or league tables shown which is strange.
  6. It survived without VAR because there wasn't the technology available to identify and publicise the mistakes of the officials to a mass audience.
  7. Or the council just compulsory purchase it? Hardly going to have any objections...
  8. To any sane person next Monday means the 23rd, as you don't need to say "next" if you mean the 16th. But last time the draw took place the day after the second round so it would make sense to be tomorrow given it's just 4 weeks until the next round.
  9. Last 32 a bit much but a first round bye to the last 64 seems sensible, would've given Cumnock, Troon, Glenafton, Largs, Beith, Benburb, Arthurlie a league game on Saturday 21st.
  10. Of course not. But it would seem to be a bit disingenuous given clubs have thanked their opponents for agreeing to it, suggesting that it's not an automatic thing in the Junior Cup.
  11. The SRCC website has last season's rules, apparently this season they take a levy. However that is exactly the same as the Junior Cup, which is £7/3 with no mention of free U16s for free and 15% or £10 to the SJFA. The Scottish Cup doesn't seem to have a levy for the SFA in the early rounds. I've seen on Twitter clubs in the Scottish Cup, Junior Cup and SRCC this season say that U16s are free so it obviously can be done if the clubs are in agreement. Presumably you've just go to do some diligent record keeping to note the proper total gate receipts (including number of U16s) and split of payments to the away club and SRCC, pay the SRCC the correct amount, then sort things out with the away club like in this case with ES.
  12. So despite the red dots I was right, didn't help with the distance between the VAR monitor and location of the IDFK as the ref took a while to run back to make the signal and the TV coverage cut away. Of course ref mic (even if it was delayed for the broadcasters and available at HT/FT) would've cleared up the confusion.
  13. Sorry, but having seen the highlights I'm unsure what all the complaining is about? Player in an offside position gets involved in active play by interfering with the goalkeeper, goal correctly ruled out for offside. Referee points in the direction of the free kick as normal - however we don't see him put his hand up for an IDFK so we don't know if it was for offside or not. Is that it?
  14. Last week @Kennie came on here to say that Kilwinning couldn't have a fixture brought forward as the two other idle teams didn't want to, which is fair enough. But now Clydebank have a league fixture with just 7 days notice (they were meant to be sitting idle after going out of the SRCC and not having a league game) due to Gartcairn's game v Benburb being put off due to their Junior Cup postponed game being played on the 14th. Doesn't seem like Clydebank are happy with that... A home game for the defending champions against local rivals that they hadn't played for 6 months is usually going to attract a good crowd... I'm also not sure what income you're talking about when it comes to for example, Bridge of Don v Irvine Vics yesterday - BOD having to pay at least £400 out for the refs (not including expenses) and the away team's travel guarantee before they can break even (a crowd of at least 80 needed for that) while Irvine Vics get £400 in travel money (do you think that is enough to cover to cover the 180 mile journey?).
  15. An even more relaxed episode of the Max Verstappen podcast
  16. Hamilton taking a racing line as if he only had one car on his inside...
  17. Some pics and info on the new Kirkintilloch ground. Certainly better than a cage though apparently needs bigger nets/fencing behind the goals (wonder how many balls will be lost to the canal!) - similar to Kelty you could add more cover etc so I can see why one club would want to make sure it is "theirs" before investing in the facilities.
  18. "Making" someone play the ball (i.e. a defender deciding to play the ball so that it doesn't end up at a striker) is not a criteria for interfering with play though, Hatate did not challenge or impact/prevent the defender playing the ball. https://www.theifab.com/laws/latest/offside/#offside-offence Provided of course that it is deemed a deliberate play by the defender as per law 11 above. Would need to see it again once it's on iPlayer. If the ball is deliberately played by the defender then it doesn't matter that Hatate is in an offside position.
  19. Crofty: we still haven't cleared the three cars sufficiently Camera pans across to show an empty gravel trap, SC in this lap
  20. A few weeks ago I went past just after half 5 and saw the ICT bus parked in a similar spot with the players coming out of the stand, no need for it to be parked there right after the game though.
  21. Great work by Elmo once again, this time removing the headlines of linked articles from tweets. Someone just posted a link to a news site without any other text, so the tweet was simply a generic stock photo with the url in the corner and nothing else.
  22. VAR in this case was there to try and fix the mess that AR1 created by incorrectly flagging a goal for offside. 5 years ago that would've been the big talking point, and people would've been asking for technology to come in and help.
  23. You'll be pleased to know that most clubs have played 4 league games more than this time last season.
