  1. I saw a TERF making it topical by saying the SNP are handing out puberty blockers to children
  2. Well here's the thread that started it. Seems like a problem for candidates in this area (see previously Neale Hanvey).
  3. From the SFA website. At least it sorts out the question of offside, as it's not even close. I do wonder if the assistant probably wouldn't have even been able to see the Aberdeen player at the bottom due to three others in an offside position in the middle, so his play-on decision might've been just as dodgy as the VAR making the decision without lines.
  4. Didn't realise this occurred as I didn't bother watching the nil-nil on Sportscene! Here's the freeze frame - is Livingston 11 at the top is playing the Aberdeen player at the bottom onside? Missing from the statement is whether the SFA have since checked the offside using the footage available and produced the lines because it would be useful to see how close it was. Also: "What this situation demonstrates, in our opinion, is that the version of VAR that Scottish football has, or more accurately, can afford, is not suitable for the purpose in which it is intended." - it's the same offside system as other leagues like England use (with fewer calibrated cameras though to help avoid obstructed body parts) and any system could fail to work at some point. This is just the VARs deciding not to just go with the on-field decision in a close offside rather than a "version of VAR" thing...
  5. Abbey Vale's draw tonight means that a licensed club will win the title and enter the Lowland League play-off against the East winner (if not also the West).
  6. You would need to apply for election to the WOS and join at Div 4 if my info is correct. But, the WOS is full at the moment anyway at 80 clubs. West area clubs in the LL would drop down into the WOS Premier (and would be accommodated even if it meant 81 clubs). Technically the wording rules out Caley Braves from the WOS due to their previous SOS membership but I'm sure they'd be allowed in given they are in Lanarkshire. WOS rule 15. A Club relegated from the SLFL that is a) based within agreed geographical boundary of the League, and b) was previously a member of the League or a member of the SLFL at the time of the formation of the League will automatically become a full member of the League and shall play in the Premier Division. Any clubs relegated from the SLFL that was previously a member of any other comparable league shall not be eligible for membership of the League.
  7. With all WOS clubs in the Junior Cup it would be even more like a WOS Cup in the latter stages - you'd still need to get EOS clubs involved to get back to what it was. Unless the plan is to sabotage the South Challenge Cup with WOS clubs pulling out and making it less attractive to the EOS clubs in order to force some sort of non-league cup merger? A good change to the Junior Cup to financially incentivise clubs would be to make it so that the home club isn't paying the away team's travel guarantee, to help stop smaller clubs losing money when they host someone from a different region. If you want to attract clubs that's more important than the prize money awarded in the latter stages for which most clubs will never get close to.
  8. Says who? Last year the season continued for another two weeks, and other leagues continue after that date (which is only for the Premier Division to crown a champion for the LL play-off).
  9. Took until the fourth season of being part of the pyramid for a licensed club to win the EOS. And the WOS has had the same number of licensed champions as the SOS, in its two year existence.
  10. Talking of making things up - the Rangers player who scored the rebound was encroaching therefore it was correctly ruled out, whereas here the Motherwell player was not in the box. You should be more worried about the Dundee player's encroachment that would have meant a retake had he stopped the rebound shot going in (players should just give more margin nowadays with VAR).
  11. https://www.theifab.com/laws/latest/glossary/football-terms/ Restart position A player’s position at a restart is determined by the position of their feet or any part of their body which is touching the ground, except as outlined in Law 11 – Offside
  12. The decision on new clubs will come after the conclusion of the play-offs, right? So clubs would know if the EOS is down two clubs on this season, which may influence things and also change the setup again after Rosyth's exit?
  13. Broxburn to be promoted and Edinburgh Uni NOT coming down. As it stands this is on course to happen - however it relies on Brechin not being promoted, Gretna finishing bottom (currently only a point adrift but they play Uni on the final day), plus unlicensed Beith winning the WOS (7pts behind with 4 games in hand) to make it easier for Broxburn who would likely play Dalbeattie in the play-off.
  14. Kirkintilloch Rob Roy v East Kilbride in the final on Sunday 26th May at Broadwood
  15. Didn't realise Dundee North End are still in it as well with their 8 games in hand. Broughty have Scone, Tayport, Lochee Harp, Forfar United all away - win them and Lochee United can't be champions, you'd think Tayport in 9th would be their only difficulty.
  16. Surely they will have to keep playing for another week or two more than currently scheduled (like they did last year), no reason why the other divisions need finish at the same time as the Premier Division.
  17. Ardrossan can become the first club in the WOS to secure promotion with a win in their next game.
  18. Surely the more obvious point with the league's place in the pyramid is that none of the clubs in it are strong enough to compete in the LL. Therefore it should not be in the tier 6 play-off, and instead the winners should have the option to be promoted into a WOS division - either automatically or via a play-off to tier 8 or 9? At least that way clubs still have a pathway to the LL by first going through a WOS division at their level, rather than a massive step up or drop directly to/from the LL.
  19. If you google the paper it shows as a Daily Record website, the Livingston stories on there are amongst others done by someone from the Hamilton Advertiser, so it'll be easy enough to do a Livi article based on a press conference or something, rather than having to actually attend a game or hunt around for info from non-league clubs. As for the golf club story, it has photos supplied by them so they've probably got in touch, all the journo needs to do is an interview over the phone. Also, it's lot different nowadays with clubs having their own websites and more importantly social media, so the kind of content you'd need to wait until a Thursday to read in your local paper years ago, you can look at on your phone the day after a game.
  20. There's unlikely to be to an actual sports journalist at the paper anymore, and if no one from the clubs are providing their own match report or pushing for coverage then there won't be any.
  21. Neilston number 7 is really thick as shit though, sarcastically congratulating the ref for a decision having already got a yellow after disputing a throw-in and not shutting up when the ref was talking to him.
  22. Would be some end to the season if they did against clubs with nothing to play for. EK are away to Broomhill, CSS, Albion Rovers, Berwick (h), and Tranent - on 69 with 4 points needed. Bo'ness are away to Linlithgow, Broomhill, Hearts B, and Stirling Uni (h) - 72 max. Cumbernauld Colts are away to Albion Rovers, Celtic B, then home to Cowdenbeath, Edinburgh Uni, and Gala - 71 max.
  23. Perth is about 20 minutes further than Cowdenbeath and from Gala it's less time than going to Broomhill (at Dumbarton) or most of the WOS clubs that could be promoted to the LL. Not that either of them are going to be surviving much longer in the LL anyway.
  24. Only 3 home games left for them and next one in 3 weeks so maybe they thought the pitch sacrifice with a big crowd was worth it... He did actually see ELMW play, as he went to Ochilview later for their game v Stirling Uni. Think there's still a good few years of EOS grounds to be visited to allow the WOS clubs to prepare for the hoppers...
  25. Not seen it, did the incident warrant a red card?
