Ofcourse but also ok to ask how those opinions changed, especially since Lawal has barely had a sniff since.

he hasn't had a sniff because other players have stepped up and the bar has been raised, he may have looked like an option early on this season but not now.

Was surprised to see Ola get a contract as McGlynn didn’t seem to fancy him last season but does appear to be some short memories for those who rated him highly and now happy to now see him away?

Thought he barely got an opportunity this season and on the few starts he had good performances against Queens Park and Ayr, whilst also producing a superb goal vs Alloa.

The biggest thing I thought was that he seemed quite lethargic in matches but definitely had something to add to the team.

People are allowed to change their minds on a player you know.

FWIW here’s my opinion on this:

Everybody (including the board) know that the target of 2500 subscriptions to the FSS is not going to happen.
They are also aware that promotion this season is vital.

If we are playing in the championship next year then the increased prize money, increased revenue and current subscriptions to FSS will cover the current shortfall.

If we are playing in League 1 next season then big decisions will need to be made and external investment will 100% be sought.

The consistent “begging” at the moment is not about reaching 2500 members, it’s about getting as much money as possible in the coffers to do what needs to be done in January to make promotion happen.

The next 6 months are massive.

This is it, no ideas how some can't understand.

Now that the shares have been bought there are very little other options available other than donation. It is what happens with most fan owned clubs.

Short-term focus on keeping us full-time but driving towards establishment of Falkirk Academy is what was discussed at the members meeting.

Exactly, we have only arrived at this point sooner than expected because of the fan bank money. Long term the academy being a focus of FSS should be a vote winner.

No, I think you are right. This will bring additional cash into the club based on the fact that Patrons (or others) buy the shares and then the FSS cash effectively doubles the amount.

However, what doesn’t make sense to me is that by doing this means that the Patrons are effectively paying double for the privilege of donating shares to the FSS for free and then purchasing the free shares. The Patrons could just buy the free shares, then there are none left for the FSS. Same scenario of getting 2 x the cash. There is no need to donate except for altruistic reasons in getting the FSS to 25%.

I’m not sure how many will be interested in doing that

I guess when we know the answer to this we will see the best way forward. I certainly think the goal should be maximising the total ££ the club will receive.

This is the thing...... the Patrons donate shares to FSS and then are asked to buy their shareholding back from the shares that are up for grabs?

    Doesn't make sense to me.

Correct me if I'm wrong, as I may well be but doesn't that mean additional monies for the club doing it that way? as the fss monthly contributions will be accounted for and if the patrons bought the shares its new money which isn't. I would say that's a good reason to do it as the donation will bring fss to the 25 + 1, and then everybody gets what they want, seems like a good compromise - something that will be need if this model is to work long term.

If that was the case it wasn’t publicised very well.

I’m getting somewhat fed up with the “no more shares available” chat.  The directors and shareholders can issue new shares whenever they want.  FSS Rae giving them money and in return they should get shares.

I appreciate that one persons contribution doesn’t make a massive difference, but if this is turning into a donation and therefore effectively improving the value of others’ shares and absolving them of the need to put in cash, I’m going to stop donating.   I’ll find a different way of helping the club.

I'd always assumed the aim was just to get to 25% - which makes the clubs decision to not allow this to happen when we are so close very strange. After the 25% was reached I think it makes sense to continue as a donation based scheme - with FSS having authority on how they money is spent

  9. surely the plan was always that FSS subs would eventually just become a donation based scheme in the long term? but as we reached the required amount of shares (or almost) due to the money from the fan bank it just happen a bit sooner than expected. Going forward monies handed to the club should possibly be conditioned with what it is spent on.

Just saw this update from the FSS in my e-mails :-

"Following the payment of the money from the Fan Bank loan to FSS, this money was passed to the club to purchase 875,000 shares. These shares, when added to those previously purchased by/donated to FSS, takes us to a current total of 1,279,000. The total number of shares issued by the Company (Falkirk Football Club) are 5,197,575, so FSS is the largest shareholder at 24.6% of the total shareholding.

The FSS committee has unanimously agreed that we require to reach 25% plus one share. This (25%+1) is important because it is the number of shares required to veto any special resolutions - thus providing FSS (and the wider fanbase) with the 'safeguard' associated with our message. That means FSS needs to obtain a further 37,184 shares to reach the figure of 25% plus one share.

Falkirk Football Club Board of Directors have informed us that there are no more shares available to us (the club has elected to retain approximately 1% of total shares for other potential investors), but they are understanding of our aim of reaching over 25%. As a result, FSS needs to find a different mechanism to buy or obtain the additional 37,184 shares. For example, recently 2000 shares were anonymously donated by a Bairn to FSS."

I thought the whole premise of fan ownership was to provide the fans with a veto to any unwanted predator trying to buy into the club. Is that not the whole concept of the FSS (and the Patrons Group)?

Can anyone enlighten me with the logic why the club don't want the fans to have the 25% +1 shareholding and that "safeguard" ?

If the fans cannot buy the club, then what is the purpose of the FSS and Patrons Group? What is the point in the Govt spending £300k if not for fan ownership?

I am a little perplexed by this

Should be pretty straight forward to get the final 37000 required -  I would be contacting all minor historic shareholders and asking them to transfer their shares to under the FSS umbrella, I for one would do that without hesitation.
