  1. a movement for (originally) the re-establishment and (now) the development and protection of a Jewish nation in what is now Israel. Taken straight from the Oxford dictionary.
  2. Then I apologise. I may have misunderstood exactly what anti-Zionism means. I would appreciate if someone could explain the concept.
  3. Because his exact words he's used tonight are that he is "Anti-Zionist"
  4. I never suggested that he said that. He said that he isn't a Zionist.
  5. Let‘s look at the actual definition of Zionism. The Oxford dictionary defines Zionism as “a movement for (originally) the re-establishmentand (now) the development and protection of a Jewish nation in what is now Israel.” Now, let’s look at the demographics of the surrounding areas. Apart from Palestine, Israel borders four countries (Lebanon, Syria, Jordan and Egypt) and in turn, these countries border another five countries between them (Turkey, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Libya and Sudan). All nine of these nations have Muslim majority populations. If the Jewish people shouldn’t stay in Israel, where on earth are they meant to go?
  6. Ok let’s discuss this then. What do anti-Zionists actually propose to do with all the Jews?
  7. Any remotely pro-Israel comment in this thread is downvoted to oblivion.
  8. US media saying the rocket that hit the hospital was a Palestinian one. Not clear whether it was a false flag or an accidental friendly fire.
  9. It’s not. Russia have launched a completely unprovoked attacked against a fellow UEFA member. Israel have launched an attack in retaliation to an attack by a country that crucially is not a UEFA member. There are only two other countries that you can argue should be suspended by UEFA under the same circumstances as Russia. One is Belarus due to their friendliness of Russia. The other is Azerbaijan due to their treatment of Armenians in the Nagorno-Karabakh area.
  10. Israel will absolutely be allowed to play like Ukraine were.
  11. IMO there are only two feasible routes available. The first is tremendously unlikely. The first is that we get a UK government that actively wants Scotland out. This isn’t going to happen for a number of reasons. The second and by far likeliest scenario to how Scotland gets independence is that at some point in the next few UK general elections you’re going to see a hung Parliament. It’s happened at two of the last four and I don’t think either of the main parties are popular enough to see the kind of sustained long term majorities that Blair and Thatcher enjoyed. I do think Keir Starmer will get a majority next year (and a pretty sizeable one at that) but in 2029 or 2034 or 2039 there will absolutely be a hung Parliament. If Scotland continues to send 40+ SNP MPs to Westminster then they’ll hold the balance of power in that hung Parliament. It’s very much possible that the largest party (be it Labour or the Tories) would be relying on SNP support to prop up their government. In that case the price of that support would be an independence referendum for sure.
  12. Scotland will have the opportunity to play two friendly matches in both the March window and warm up matches just before the tournament next summer. We played Netherlands and Luxembourg before the last Euros, but were not able to play friendlies as that window was used for the first set of World Cup qualifying matches (we had a pair of draws at home to Austria and in Israel, and a comfortable home win over the Faroe Islands) Keeping in mind that 12 of our fellow UEFA nations will be unavailable in March due to participating in the playoffs, and that are also likely to avoid playing friendlies against countries that we are due to face in the group stages at the euros (and possibly even nations league opponents), which countries could Clarke look to pit us against? Personally after three straight multiple goal defeats I would like to see at least one “confidence building” opponent in each of the two windows. The likes of Latvia or the Faroe Islands would make a good lamb to the slaughter for us. I’d also like to play Sweden at some point. This is because they’re a high ranked side so beating them would help improve our fifa ranking for the World Cup qualifiers, but they aren’t anywhere near as good as their ranking suggests. I do think one of the four friendlies will be more of a test. I would go for something like: March: Sweden (H) Faroe Islands (A) June: High ranked nation not in our euros or NL group (in Germany) Latvia (in Germany)
  13. Italy will probably still be fine. If they can beat North Macedonia (something they’ve failed to do twice in the past 20 months though) then a point against Ukraine will be fine. Even if they don’t beat NM then a win against Ukraine suits Italy in any case. Croatia on the other hand are in trouble. I fancy Wales to cobble together the results they need to qualify over them on head to head. Croatia v Estonia and Poland v one of the league B teams is likely imo
  14. It’s a long shot given their remaining opponents, but if we win our last two games and Spain drop any points then we are in pot 1. If we win our last two but Spain still win the group we are in pot 2. Any dropped points we probably fall to pot 3.
  15. Croatia are good but no one is going to be crying any tears if they miss out. Absolutely nonsense about it being “disastrous”. Italy on the other hand are absolute frauds these days. They have been for a number of years other than when they randomly found a run of form and won a tournament. I’d absolutely back the current Scotland team to beat them in a knockout match.
  16. They got out of a simple group with Turkey, Italy and Switzerland. Then needed extra time to beat Austria who we know from first hand experience are no great shakes. Then beat Belgium, a far more talented team than Italy who didn’t turn up at all. Spain completely outplayed them in the semi final and Italy managed to shitfest it to penalties and beat them in the shootout, then they beat a much better England team also in a shootout (mainly thanks to Southgate not stepping on their throat when they were 1-0 up and had them under the cosh)
  17. 1. Neil Sullivan 2. Christian Dailly 3. Stephen Crainey 4. Paul Lambert 5. David Weir 6. Gary Caldwell 7. Dougie Freedman 8. Dominic Matteo 9. Stevie Crawford 10. Colin Cameron 11. Neil McCann
  18. The Nordpak butter at Aldi is a near direct rip-off of Lurpak. Their tinned soups also taste very similar to Heinz.
  19. Was that Vogts first game where we were beaten 5-0? We have actually had one since then, but I won’t blame anyone for forgetting it. We lost 3-0 in Metz in June 2016, in a match which was a warm up for France for their home euros tournament. Olivier Giroud scored a double and his then Arsenal teammate Laurent Koscielny scored the other one. Scotland lined up Marshall; Martin, Greer, Hanley, Robertson; Snodgrass, McArthur, Maloney, D.Fletcher, Ritchie; S.Fletcher. Unused subs included seminal Scotland internationals like Danny Fox, Craig Bryson, Matt Phillips, Oliver Burke and Jack Hamilton. We also lost 1-0 to Italy in a match played in Malta (for some reason) during the same international window.
  20. Belgium for me should have won euro 2020 (or at least gotten to the final). They lost to the eventual winners Italy like you said, but that Italy team weren’t particularly good and only won the tournament because the two decent teams they played both folded like a pack of cards due to tactically inept managers Martinez and Southgate. To be honest the last two euros winners (and 3 of the last 5) shitfested their way through the tournament.
  21. Yep, Chairman Mao had this one spot on. Religion is poison.
  22. Whilst the leaders of the organisations might claim to hate each other, the sort of lone wolves that carry out these attacks on Western cities are generally just extremists who don’t really care about the nuances of which terrorist groups are allied to each other or not. There you go. It really didn’t take a genius to guess that they’re heavily linked.
