  1. He has enough savvy about him not to try that nonsense.
  2. Scot Arfield has been a great servant to the club and been a top pro. It would be fitting if he was to end his playing career where it started. If Falkirk sign him I hope it does not end in tears as it has for so many ex heroes returning shadows of their former selves and remembered for that rather than their days of glory. If he cannot do his trademark box to box anymore what role could he fill? Nice problem to have though.
  3. Same goes for Ross County and Roy MacGregor. The sponsorship he brings in with his MacGregor Supplies leverage goes when he does.
  4. It's another game off the list. Teams now know what we are good and poor at and are adapting their tactics accordingly. Hence the importance of freshening things up in the transfer window. On the out are players that won't get a game and football elsewhere is their best chance of getting a club next year. Very good chance that an offer for Morrison will be made and that will be some hard thinking for McGlynn. As for signing the first time in ages clubs and players will see Falkirk as a good fit for some loan deals. Going to be interesting.
  5. Plan B if we don't go up. Budget for a decline in support funding, sponsorship, advertizing. The reasoning is that a % of the funders give up and pressure on personal finances If it's too cautious then there are some funds for mid-season signings better that than the all too familiar cap in hand to the support with administration a certainty if it's not achieved. We have bumped that option far too often - never again. Hybrid Full-time / part-time squad with numbers to stay within budget Hard decisions regarding the youth setup It's the hard and unpalatable reality of not going up this season. Back the team and club and hopefully this is not a reality.
  6. So you don't think the stadium mentioned is daft - at least we are getting somewhere. So that leaves you with the position that Gildie did not influence the main stand design. It was well discussed in the process of the design of the new stadium that Goldie wanted a statement grandstand. The council were in the driving seat and what they wanted they got such as the parking which is a nice little earner creaming the fans for their cash every home game. They must have made a fortune from that and the club never see a coin.
  7. What is daft about about a Stadium with stands having Rows of 20-25 seats wrap round with boxes above the main stand with a capacity of 9,000 odd
  8. Final stand a simple 15 - 20 row stand and the simpler cheaper the better. Hardcore, concrete facing, seats and a roofing job done.
  9. Watching the Wimbledon v Ramsgate English Cup Game What a cracking wee stadium New Plough Lane is. Rows of 20-25 seats wrap round stand with boxes above the main stand with a capacity of 9,000 odd That was the type of stadium that should have been built at Falkirk instead of Goldies ego trip
  10. Top clubs use a hybrid grass/synthetic as it is and I can't see them accepting this. Most likely another example of the Daily Records passing relationship with factual reporting. Suspect there will be a notice period to go hybrid grass/synthetic to play in the top league at £2 - 3 million a pop every 4 -5 years. In other words, a back door closed shop.
  11. -7C at Aberdeen so it's only fair that FFC have an early inspection so that Cove and their fans can avoid a wasted journey. If it was the other way round we would expect the same courtisy
  12. McGlynn did the right thing. Get the result sorted early and leave the options for who goes off and on. Job done.
  13. Best side to kick off and get game won then ring the changes. Not ever the other way round, have seen so many Falkirk teams over the years come unstuck because of it.
  14. Every last coin was screwed out of the facility for years with minimum investment.
  15. Every player is for sale and will have their price. It's a matter of balancing any offer for a January transfer against his potential (avoiding injury) contribution to the league campaign. Due to his injury history if an offer is made it's going to be hard for the club to turn down.
  16. Can't and should not stand in the way of Morrison. Falkirk gave him a career lifeline after injury and he in the end delivered the goods so it worked out well for both parties. Case of if the offer is enough let him go if not let him see out the season
  17. Tam Young with Shirra and McLaughlin were the muscle in the side if anybody decided to mix it.
  18. Remember that the studs slipped just on impact. Was always the same. Left side foot hit hard 1 ft above the ground aimed at the side netting. Ball went in about 1 ft in from the post. every goalie knew where it was going but nobody saved them. Miller called it 'The Claw' what a left foot, what a footballing center back. Another moment was the injury time goal direct from a corner at Brockville to beat the Pars 3 - 2 Was at the Watson Street corner my usual stance 2nd along from the corner flag 2nd in. What a moment what a memory. Mega pish up in the Royal Bar after the game to celebrate
  19. So many great players, so many different styles, so many eras. But George Miller is my pick for the center half and would be my captain as well.
  20. Groupings with shareholder blocks should keep in mind. Any fresh share issue dilutes the % of the voting block already held unless the voting block buys them.
  21. I commented on a picture when the Brockville stand was built.
  22. How much is that worth on the market? Nothing as it's not marketable so it's worthless. The only customer would be the Council and they are too busy laughing at FFC replacing seating, pitches, floodlights and repairing the fabric of the stadium ie the roof at the clubs cost season after season. Would be interesting to see how much FFC has paid to the Council and on stadium upkeep since we moved. Bet we could have refurbished Brockville with the money. Anyway, it's academic - the club got screwed that's beyond doubt and we have gone over it often enough we would be going over old ground.
  23. How worse off do you want? Tenants of a stadium without brown coin of an asset in the place.
  24. It's a difficult one. But I think at the time if we knew how the club was going to get screwed and end up as mere tenants without a brown coin of an asset in the new stadium. We would have stayed put and muddled on.
