Clyde FC; Season 2022-23
Brian Carrigan replied to the_bully_wee's topic in Scottish League 2 General Chatter
Kane Richie-Hosler is on the bench for Rangers today. Initially I thought it was quite surprising given how rubbish he was for us but then I remembered that even Kyle Bradley played for Rangers’ first team. -

Any updates on how it went? Couldn't make it and don't really trust the club to be too forthcoming with details. -

So, is anyone going along tonight? -

Yeah, I'm not sure performances last year at Stirling are anything to go by considering their various struggles so if it is announced we've signed him I'll be quite open minded. Unusually and suspiciously positive start to the days proceedings. -

Hopefully not. Apparently Kurtis Roberts is done so might as well get that announced today. -

Never realised Cunningham only has 7 goals in 57 games for us - 4 of which were across 2 games against East Fife last season. Not great stuff, but he's obviously a talented boy so hopefully he can stay fit and get a proper run of games together. -

You think? What do you make of his as a player? Looked lively against us but didn't think too much of him at Stenny before his ban. -

I was hoping that this would happen. Pointless keeping them about. McGrath never got a sniff and Andrew done absolutely nothing when he played. -

Bitter about him turning us down, but fine with David Goodwillie who couldn't peace out fast enough. Interesting. -

Ok, that's very nice indeed. Hopefully a sign that we're going to be getting things done early. -

Going by the gif on the Twitter, looks like it's Ray Grant coming back. -

I would also be very surprised if Niang came to us but one can dream! With regards to MacIver, I'd heard Cove and Montrose were sniffing about. He's another one I doubt we'd have any chance with but as has been reiterated many times on here, we have a salaried recruitment team who's job it is to identify targets and sell them the club (no that they seem to have ever done that job, ever). -

Nditi definitely, Ally Roy no. Less than 10 league goals in 3 seasons. Was rotten with Airdrie at this level a couple of seasons ago. We need a goalscorer to replace the obvious. We've had far too many shot-shy forwards in recent years. -

I would take Trouten in a heartbeat. Knows Parry and still a shout for this level even at 36. He’s exactly the type of experience that we need. -
From an outsider-with-a-soft-spot POV, I agree with this take. There seems to have been a lot of upheval at the club. If you compare the QP squad to Falkirk's (who shop exclusively for the cheapest and as a consequence, worst full time players) I think there is a good amount of quality in there. I watched the young QP side play against Clyde in the Glasgow Cup earlier in the season too and going by the performance, there are some talented youngsters coming through.

What was more interesting is that in the statement Ian McCall said that Mouhamed Sena Niang still has a year left but he wouldn't stand in his way if he wanted to move to get the games he requires. Our recruitment team should be on him straight away. -
What have they done to you? Such an outrageously visceral response

This has been rumoured for a while, and on the podcast for the past wee bit they've been talking about Slaney getting himself in shape to get a club, so signing as a player has probably been on the cards.

You’d think he’s probably away because it’s quite difficult logistically for him to travel up -

I'm actually not so sure, he'll want to stay full time so I think Queen's Park, QotS, Ayr or maybe Morton would be more likely. Kelty strike me as having too much forward momentum to be signing Falkirk cast-offs at this point, but maybe they'll go for it. I certainly don't see him as being an upgrade on what they have currently. If we're talking about signing Falkirk cast offs, Paul Dixon and (at a PUSH) Gary Miller would be the only two I'd be interested in but I'd be very surprised if they were interested in joining Clyde. Both could likely hang on for a full time deal at clubs like the aforementioned lot, and if they were to go part time there are much more attractive propositions than us. -

I thought perhaps an approach for oor Danny Lennon might be on the cards, given the bond potentially developed through the recent unsavoury events caused by our clubs. -

The thing is (and I said this last summer too and was practically laughed out of the park despite it being obvious) at this level you'd rather be challenging at the top of a league than fighting relegation. Those players will have been sold on Stirling's ambition to go up next year with Young having a full season. They're already settled and from what I know, Stirling has a good dressing room. They would likely be paid more by Stirling too. So you're really going to be asking players if they want to begin the season with a club looking to win League 2 (feasible now without the likes of a Cove or a Kelty) with boys they're pally with on decent money, or jump to a new dressing room most likely to join a relegation battle at a club that's essentially a laughing stock and derided by the entire country. We have a recruitment team whose job is to sell us as a club to potential targets, but we know from experience that they just don't do that. -

What a surprise that a man that uses Facebook to call out people on Pie and Bovril is an odd little hypocrite
