  1. Does anyone think we manage to keep any one out of Clark/McCart/Rooney beyond this season?
  2. See we're not signing the Israeli midfielder after all Unless he was something special we don't need another midfielder, any free agent signing needs to be a striker, preferrably one who understands that a run in behind the defence is allowed, maybe even they could understand that a ball being flicked on is a possibility rather than standing and watching it
  3. I usually thought we were well-drilled and looked good when we went into games as an underdog, but there were too many home games in particular against bottom six teams where we had no plan to break them down and would get hit on the counter for a suckerpunch time and time again. It did get better as time went on and towards the end we did play some nice stuff at times, but no surprise he's not capable of consistently setting teams up to dominate and win - it's not a situation he faced for the vast majority of his managerial career
  4. Dendonker seemed to grow into the game, but that attempt at a throw-in which he got away with in the second half was something else
  5. Not sure if it was "that" game, I do once remember Joe Gormley coming on against Hamilton in the second half, shat it when any kind of challenge came in, attempted a lot of backheel flicks and then promptly retired after the game
  6. My brain may be making this up, but I'm still convinced that Clive Smith played a whole game against Hearts and he actually played really well, tenacious in the tackle and put some good balls into the box
  7. Kerr not listed in the Wigan squad yet again If only bookies were taking bets on him being loaned to Hibs by the end of January
  8. We should just start pinning Preston and Wigan teamsheets up as a reminder to McCart, Rooney and Clark etc
  9. McCann on the bench again, Jason Kerr not even in the Wigan squad what a waste
  10. Still find it amazing that MK Dons were linked with McPake a few weeks ago, was the promotion in any way down to him at all? Or just good players bailing him out a lower level, because he looks massively out of his depth
  11. I get the levels are very different but the European sides showed how to exploit the defence, have a striker dropping deep and midfield runners with quick passing and we can't react quick enough Hopeful balls into the box will be dealt with all day long
  12. A few Wigan fans on Twitter saying he's looking panicky and not settled at all
  13. Seemingly Jason Kerr isn't having the best debut for Wigan...
  14. Interesting to say CD saying he had planned to go home at about 8PM on deadline day, so it's clear the McCann thing was a very late decision and there was no real plan to replace him
  15. There are some interesting names out there, I guess it's pretty unlikely that we unearth someone like a Macca who's going to go on to become the clubs greatest/most terrifying player Perhaps we can try and sell it as a stepping stone for someone like a Hal Robson-Kanu, Jerome Sinclair or Connor Wickham to get their career back on track, but it's pretty slim pickings when you consider they'll also need time to get fit and work permits will probably rule out any foreign signings
  16. It might even just be that it more comes down to bonuses, maybe 5-6k flat per week, bumped up to 10k if he plays and they win and a bit more if he scores etc, it's still a world away from what he would've been earning here. I'm sure he signed the new Saints contract when he was emerging but not an automatic starter, so if that was more than 1k a week it would be a surprise
  17. Probably not relevant but as I'm a deeply petty person, delighted to see that Gretna have gone full circle and sacked Rowan Alexander again. Wonder if Alan Main was there to pour a kettle over him again
  18. I know Zander has his ups and downs, but between he and Alan Mannus, it's been years since we've had to deal with someone like Graeme Smith, Enckelman, Kevin Cuthbert, Michael McGovern (it was only one game but it was spectacularly sh*te) where you fear something ridiculous happening every time the ball comes near the box. Replacing a solid, dependable keeper is never easy
  19. Obviously this isn't an exact science, but is it still generally accepted that if the selling club doesn't want full details announced or the dreaded "undisclosed fee" then it's because they aren't really that happy with what they got?
  20. I don't know what's worse, whoever wrote it or those that liked it. The thing about all of this is I don't think anybody is really furious over the simple fact that he was sold, that was always going to happen, it's the actual fee, the fact that he did have a contract until 2023 so this was the one deal we could actually stand our ground and negotiate properly with, while also then clearly not having a replacement lined up but still letting him go for less than the market value is just an awful piece of decision making and planning from someone who always loves to talk about how tough he is in business and his experience etc.
  21. The only benefit to selling him for such a rank rottenly low price is that 25% of the profit will pretty muchbe 25% of the next fee I guess
