  1. Thought McGinn was very good first half but a bit quiet in second mainly because of all the defending we were doing after Squiddy went off. The Dundee fans said that he was great going forward but a bit weak in defending so maybe we'll see that attacking influence in games where we have the ball more.
  2. Shame for him as he needed games to get back to form. Will be interesting to see who the roasters of the forum choose as their new scapegoat.
  3. A few folk giving it the 'I'm not convinced' routine in various places. To be honest, I thought he did well. Every header he won and got to one of our players was one less time we gave possession straight back to Celtic from a punt.
  4. Think we should cut Sammon a bit of slack considering he had to play 90 minutes with a group of players he met about an hour before kick-off.
  5. He scored 11 goals in one season for a club at this level with Ian Vigurs in behind him. I reckon we should at least give him a chance. (If he even joins)
  6. McLaughlin can play up front but is best with a striker partner. Wouldn't be against seeing him play off Elliott up front on Tuesday to be honest.
  7. Got a feeling we might just get Storey. Blind hope but hope nonetheless. Trust Archie to get something better than Brian Graham in, either way.
  8. Was surprised that Lawless didn't take a penalty considering he scored two against Dunfermline.
  9. I thought Spittal did pretty well. Actually tried to make incisive runs and beat his man. Did plenty of running especially when asked to play in an unfamiliar wing back role. At the end of the day, he's essentially replaced Amoo in the squad and did just about as much in 90 minutes as Amoo did in the second half of last season.
  10. There were a number of problems from yesterday that meant we weren't up to it and to be honest I'm pretty excited sure they'll all be sorted by the league's beginning. Firstly, we were being beaten for every high ball that fell in the midfield. Even though I'm sure he tried his best, Edwards wasn't winning the headers and Bannigan won a few but not many. That meant that a lot of the times Cerny kicked clear, it came right back at the defence. That's not to worrying as usually we'Il have Barton and Osman in there which is a physically strong midfield pairing. Secondly, the centre midfield seemed to just dissolve. Ryan Edwards ran after every single ball as if he was playing the position he was playing last season which left gaps and I presume Bannigan was told to man-Mark a Livi player because he kept following his man into the defence which left a gaping hole between the attacking midfield and defence which was probably Livi most effective area. This will also hopefully be fixed with Abdul back as his positional awareness is probably his best asset in my opinion. Also, we had no cover when James Penrice and Christie Elliott went forward which again exposed our backline. Bannigan dropped in slightly but never really moved away from his man and the communication should have been much better so that cover was in place. Once again, Abdul's return should help this as he's the prime communicator and also tends to fill in the gaps in defence when needed. Unfortunately, another issue was Erskine. We can probably put it down to him just having a bad day but he was a bit off it after his goal went in. Before it he looked dangerous but after, he slowed our breaks down. His touch was poor, his passing was slack. The prime example of that was when Blair Spittal made an excellent run in behind his marker and Erskine played it in front of the defender. Finally, we had nothing in the bench. This is no one's fault and will probably be fixed through signings but to have five subs and not counting Scully, I doubt they had ten appearances between them. To ask any of those lads to come on and change the game would be ridiculous. Ideally, we'd get a striker or two in before the league starts. So, to summarise, Abdul Osman for Ballon D'Or.
  11. Sorry, didn't mean to sound natty. He played both the 0-0 draws if I recall correctly and didn't play at Dumbarton for the sake of rotation and for a rest.
  12. Cerny's been back for weeks. Keown and Osman are out for the Livi game.
  13. To be fair to the lads, in a hotel in Colchester there's not much else to do but watch pish T.V.
  14. Keown has only just joined up with the squad so is probably still going through the first steps of our pre-season regime. Osman is working with the fitness coaches, rehabbing an injury that he had at the end of the season. And the trialist is Josh Meekings obviously...
  15. Or a loan of some sort? Keown was on trail, so to speak, for a period before we announced the signing so could be a similar situation. He only has one year left on his contract, though, so could be a purchase. Just curious, where's this information come from?
  16. I reckon he'll go down south with the team and Archie will decide after those BCD games.
  17. Trialist looked decent. Quick for his size and willing to chase the ball. Couple of moments where Lawless and Erskine were playing off him which looked promising. Didn't get too many crosses in so would want to see us try that a wee bit more. He got involved more than Ade typically does, I thought.
