  1. Not at all mate just being realistic, optimistic if anything. Glensmad said he expected Bens to score a similar amount to the 9 they got against Girvan and we're in the habit of losing 9, title challengers at home to the bottom team who haven't got a single point. I'm not a player but if you offered me 3-0 I'd bite your hand off, a respectable score and realistically as much as we can hope for. And for the record, the players have done anything but throw the towel in in any of their games this season. Their attitude has been brilliant and they've kept going even in the face of repeated pumpings, the problem is ability and experience at this level, not their attitude.
  2. Don't think that's going to happen this time, we were getting back on track before the Kilsyth game but had a few players out. With them back and one or two additions it won't be 9 this time. Still think we'll get beaten though, hoping to keep it down to 3 or 4
  3. Was heavy rain earlier so park will be doubtful for that, cold but not predicted to go much below zero so might not freeze. I'd guess 50/50 at best.
  4. Agree about leaviing the past behind and concentrating on the here and now, but to say the old thinking members should move on is ridiculous. The club needs volunteers on the committee to survive and no matter what their points of view are and whether anybody agrees with them, if it wasn't for the committee and their hard work there wouldn't be a club. The above applies to nearly all junior clubs by the way.
  5. With all due respect mate need to focus on the here and now, the past has gone and you need to see the situation for what it is now.
  6. Absolutely mate, agree 100% with that, it needs to be sustainable. We've seen some of the boys thrown into the first team this season due to neccessity more than anything else but if there's a pathway for them into the first team it should encourage them and hopefully produce more players. The prime example of course being Graham Gracie but it's a few years now since he broke through and I can't recall many if any others coming up through the ranks and establishing themselves like he has done, this has got to be the way forward.
  7. I bow to your superior knowledge of Thistle history mate, I only went to the games occasionally before the mid 90s and assume most of these finals took place then. However I think my point still stands, they were a long time ago in mostly minor competitions and mostly defeats. The run in the Premier League lasted three seasons or four at the most and ended when the money they had at the time ran out, resulting in a swift drop to the very bottom before promotion to the old Central First for umpteen years. It's a romantic notion that teams fear going to Larkhall, maybe once but not now and it looks unlikely it will ever be like that again.
  8. Not being funny mate but the proud history and achievements are pretty much lost in the mists of time already. I've been going on and off since the 70s and can only remember getting to two finals, the Dryburgh Cup at Shettleston which Thistle won and I think the Sectional Cup against Bellshill at Partick which they lost 3-0. I think there were one or two in between these but not many. The only minor successes in the last 20+ years were a spell in the inaugural Superleage Premier after going close to winning the final Central First Division, just losing out on the last day to Johnstone Burgh and a Scottish Cup quarter final defeat at home to Arthurlie. So junior supporters under the age of 50 probably see Thistle as a lower league side who haven't achieved much not as some big name with a reputation.
  9. Aye hopefully mate, Wishaw, Bellshill, even the Albert themselves have come back from being a lot worse off than Thistle are now. I remember going to see Albert in what was supposed to be their last ever game down on the park beside where the stadium used to be, The Venue took the team over and they played as a pub team for a couple of years and they built it from there.
  10. Hmmm no I didn't Anyway to all Kilsyth Rangers supporters, I am sorry for my mistake, your team is actually great. If you beat the bottom team who haven't won a single point 9-1 you must be great. The team incidentally that held you till half time and whose heads went down with the award of a penalty for an incident that was outside the box. But never mind that, it doesn't detract in any way from your greatness. Other great teams in the league include Glencairn and Whittletts who are if anything slightly greater having beaten us 9-0 and St Roch's who are only slightly less great at 9-2. Honourable mentions too to Cumbernauld (8-0 and 7-1) and Arthurlie (7-1), if they'd scored a couple more goals they could have risen to the great levels of Kilsyth. It's no wonder looking at these that we're bottom with all these great teams in the league.
  11. No disrespect ? We weren't that good and we were so bad ? Uve done a good job off disrespecting both team's in the one sentance , well done ! I didn't say you weren't all that good, different thing entirely. If a team scores 9 it's either because they have been outstanding or the other team have been terrible. In this case we were terrible and didn't defend, you didn't have to be all that great to win 9-1. There's nothing disrespectful about any of that, it's just my opinion of the game.
  12. I don't mean they stopped trying but mentally they seemed to have gone and knew they were beaten.
  13. Kilsyth had the better chances and missed a couple of sitters in the first half but as Benny Factor says we could have easily been 2-1 up at half time when our striker was one on one with the goalie, good save though. Never seen anything like the second half though, very disappointing when it looked like we had turned a corner. No disrespect but I didn't think Kilsyth were even all that great it was more that we were so bad.
  14. Michael has ability but needs to learn when to pass the ball or lump it up the park, for example when he's in his own box surrounded by three defenders don't try and dribble past them all. Today was embarrassing at times, worst of the season. They've always competed and tried hard till the end but today some of them looked like they had chucked it.
  15. What's your problem with Larkhall Thistle, you haven't got a team listed do you just go round trying to wind other supporters up? With a name like that it doesn't even sound like you're from the region it's an east coast name in my experience.
  16. Was Martin Mulhearn not a full back? I was very young and only have vague memories
  17. I knew somebody would come back with something like that, didn't know the score when they played each other but doesn't matter anyway it's only three points. Did check the table there though and even if by some chance Rossvale won their three games in hand they would still be two points behind. I'm just basing my opinion on what I've seen from the teams and I'd say Glencairn are by far the better team.
  18. I would keep a hold of the money if I was you based on what I saw yesterday, don't think Rossvale will be anywhere near the title. Holding on and time-wasting against 10 men Larkhall for a 1-0 doesn't strike me as champion material, Glencairn are miles better than them.
  19. I would go with the opinion of the supporters rather than the referee on this one, they were at the game and saw the condition of the pitch as much as he did. The guys posting here saying it was OK have probably been around the junior game for 40+ years, the referees are often wee boys straight out of referee school.
  20. The referee and linesmen have already been paid so no incentive for them to hang around getting freezing and wet, if they can get it called off some of them will.
  21. That's a bit rude What I meant was Arthurlie 1 Benburb 4 Cumbernauld 1 Whitletts 3 Dalry 0 Neilston 2 Darvel 4 St Rochs 0 Kello Rovers 1 Irvine Vics 5 Kilsyth 1 Rossvale 2 Larkhall Thistle 1 Girvan 1 Glencairn 3 Craigmark Burntonians 0
  22. My thoughts: Meaningless fixture Meaningless fixture Meaningless fixture Meaningless fixture Meaningless fixture Meaningless fixture Home win Meaningless fixture
  23. Ffs four draws and a win for Thistle so far? What's that based on, the law of averages? Would take it though.
